Queens Blood Izzy: Madam Nightshade

So I had to Headcanon that Izzy disguises herself under the alias of Madam Nightshade to go into Wall-Market and play Queens Blood for fun. It's a hobby that she's found to enjoy if not spook people a little in the meantime as well. She's quite good at it and makes for a fun challenge.

The Ghost of the Damned

"I glance into the mirror and realize I have become all I sought to tear apart. I may punch the glass until it shatters, but the reflection will remain."

You rot with the need for something more than what you have. The ghost is built up of the feeling of stagnation. You find it staring at the ceiling with sleep-blurred vision; this is the third night you have met its eyes in the early hours of the morning.

You tear yourself apart looking for comfort, for validation, for acceptance. But it never feels quite enough. You ruin everything you touch, despite every attempt to be more than what you have always been. You would sculpt yourself as something perfect for those around you, but you are no artist.

When Albert Camus wrote, “Be silent, heart; there is no hope!” when Lucille Clifton wrote, “Maybe I should’ve wanted less. maybe i should’ve ignored the bowl in me, begging to be filled.” when Taylor swift said, “I’m still on that tightrope, i’m still trying everything to get you looking at me.”

"Well, being related to him counts as a problem." Lucas couldn't help but joke- although, it wasn't fully a joke. Almost all his problems stemmed off of being related to Hojo in some way or another, whether he acknowledged it or not.

"Program the salvation code?" Now Lucas was both confused and intrigued. "What do you mean by that? What kind of code are you programing?" Salvation could mean a lot of things, to a lot of people. Coming from someone in the labs, he was extremely skeptical this code would be helpful to anyone.

"If being related to him is a problem you certainly didn't run far enough to get away." She notes, watching him curiously. If she had to guess it's almost as if he wanted to stay close. She grins as he questions her code and settles into a nearby chair. "It's exactly what it sounds like." She says with a chuckle.

"I can't go giving away all my secrets to a stranger, especially ones that I haven't quite finished yet." She'd been working on it for some time. A way to transfer consciousness into data, and back into bodies again. She believed it could be done, that a mind could be preserved. Immortality. Her eyes glaze as she stares off into the distance, reveling in the thought for just a moment.

"Anyhow." She clears her throat. "You are also a Turk and I really don't share much with them. In fact, I don't like a Turk snooping around the labs at all." She clarifies slowly. He could try to fool her with that almost innocent attitude but one could never be too careful around here. "Doesn't a Turk have better things to be doing that stirring trouble for the Professor?" She asks with a raised brow.

Lucas moves to bite but he's going to get quite the shock if he manages to land the hit. The moment she glimpses him turn sparks of electricity start to dance along her arms, playing amongst the silver bands upon them. She stands there smirking still pinching the single strand between her thumb and finger.

He has no idea just how fiery that temper could be, but she tries to keep the claws hidden. He didn't tear off into the hallway as expected. Did it make it any better that she was the one 'scientist' who didn't wear a white coat? However, that garter of syringes never helped much with the intimidation factor. She laughs to herself as he explains his predicament.

"So, You told him to 'do what you must'? Oh, you foolish boy.." She glides her fingers back through her silky strands and turns to face him. "You didn't stop to think for one moment that he'll use that desperation to his advantage? Do you truly think he cares about helping you?" She raises a brow. "You would have been better off coming to me." She walks over to the table, mulling over her thoughts.

"Do I have details.." She laughs. "I have more than you could ever imagine. I knew this was a bad idea from the very start." She kicks a chair out with her foot and takes a seat in it, poising one leg over the other. "That creature that recently escaped, what they call Jenova and assume to be an Ancient, the Professor knew it wasn't an Ancient from the start. He hid that information and used its cells in various experiments."

She watches Roche carefully as she speaks. "That thing cultivates madness unlike anything I've ever seen before and he is victim to that very madness that threatens us all. If it isn't already too late. Sure he was never good, but he is not the same Professor now. He is fixated upon one thing only, Jenova and its Reunion." Her eyes narrow.

"As for the degradation issue..." She frowns slightly. "That is an issue I've been trying to solve for quite some time. Sure, Jenova's cells can grant immortality and perfect balance." She pauses. "On the rare occasion that you happen to be a perfect fit for them. If they don't kill you first or make you lose control of your own mind." She sighs. "I can count on one hand the amount of people with those cells who are still around to tell the tale." She turns her gaze back to him.

"Regardless, whatever he has planned for you? I believe you will no longer be you."

SILENCE , at first . roche says nothing , lips pressed tight in a frown before he sighs and looks away . those aren't the words he needed to hear , not right now . something terrible ... of which calamity does she speak of ? the one that has consumed his entire life as SOLDIER ? his own death ? which one is it now ? for once , even the riddler does not care for riddles . this must be what cloud must have felt like , talking to him ⸻ nothing was ever clear with roche . but there was a rhyme and reason for it , or so he thought ...

❛ something bad has already happened , ❜ he responds , crossing his arms over his chest as he turns his gaze toward her ⸻ serious , for once . he appears a flame extinguished now , too weakened by his woes . ❛ something bad is always looming . you'll have to be a little more specific . ❜

she speaks of madness with such ease and it gives him pause , however . he knows of madness . fighting during the genesis war felt akin to insanity , and no longer recognizing the man he once aspired to be like left him wondering ... how did that gilded dream turn monstrous so quickly ? did it turn at all ? was it always that way , showing its true face only in that moment ? had it all been a warning ?

why are you meeting with the professor ? she asks , and roche looks at her with wide eyes at first , wondering where the inquiry came from at all . but then ... roche chuckles , if not out of surprise . shouldn't she be the first to know ? since when does hojo keep secrets from his faithful pet ? and perhaps there is a bite to his words when he answers , his expression eclipsed by that telltale darkness that always seems to cling to his mako gaze . don't be fooled . it is more rain than raging fire .

❛ my ... hojo keeping secrets from you , my dear ? i can't say i expected that . and in any case , why should you care , hm ? ❜ he inquires in a purr . ❛ you ... all of you ⸻ you've kept your terrible secrets . maybe even relished them . ❜

Her lips press into a thin line, fingers curl against the palm of her hand. How dare anyone else utter the words 'my dear' to her. How dare he question what she should or should not know. She may have went along with every little thing the Professor did back in the day but this was no longer him and she would not feed into the Jenova madness. She didn't want the man dead of course, but she could no longer watch everything around her unravel. <BR><BR>

What he was pushing for would only end them all.

"He doesn't tell me about things that he thinks I might interfere in." She says with narrowed eyes. Which usually meant it involved Jenova cells. "And if I don't know then no one else knows, trust me." She bared a hint of her teeth at his purr, fighting to control the rage so that her powers didn't accidentally reveal themselves. The flickering lights were already a reaction to her stress. The last thing she needed was them breaking or worse.

"You know what?" She twirls a hand into the air. "Why do I care, indeed?" She says while turning away from him. "Go and take whatever he offered you then. You don't know how terrible these secrets can be until you become one of them." Her voice sings with the amusement of it. "Run along and by the time you regret it, it will already be too late." She says with a slow grin.

"Why should I care.."

Her arms fold across her chest as she stares at the wall before her. She could forget so many other things about this place, and push every last secret deeper into her core so that she didn't have to look at it, didn't have to face it. It wouldn't be hard to forget him too.

BBC’s Sherlock —  The Great Game  {Sentence Starters}

  • “I’ve disappointed you.”
  • “Oh, the wall had it coming.“
  • “Everyone says you’re the best.“
  • “So, you take it out on the wall?”
  • “Don’t make people into heroes.”
  • “And you find that easy, do you?“
  • “Didn’t mean it as a compliment.“
  • “Without you, I’ll get hung for this.“
  • “All that matters to me is the work!“
  • “I don’t like getting my hands dirty.“
  • “Oh, f… It’s a head. A severed head!“
  • “Why not? I thought you’d be flattered.”
  • “Oh God, that again! It’s not important!“
  • “What if I was to shoot you now? Right now?“
  • “There are lives at stake! Actual human lives!”
  • “You’ve come the closest. Now, you’re in my way.“
  • “Oh, did I really make such a fleeting impression?“
  • “Just… just so I know, do you care about that at all?”
  • “Oh, you meant ‘spectacularly ignorant’ in a nice way!”
  • “So, take this as a friendly warning, my dear: back off.“
  • “Or better still, stop inflicting your opinions on the world!“
  • “Where else am I supposed to put it? You don’t mind, do you?“
  • “Heroes don’t exist, and if they did… I wouldn’t be one of them.”
  • “I mean, I’m gonna kill you anyway, someday. I don’t want to rush it, though.“
  • “You ripping my clothes off in a darkened swimming pool… People might talk.“
  • “I would try to convince you, but everything I have to say has already crossed your mind.“
  • “Ordinary people fill their heads with all kinds of rubbish, and that makes it hard to get at the stuff that matters! Do you see?”

Once he steps into the room she casts a glance into the hall then seals the door shut. What did she want to talk about? She laughs quietly to herself at the question. "Don't you feel it?" She asks. "That something terrible is going to happen?" She turns from the door and paces back in his direction. "Has already happened." She corrects. "But there will be more. Oh, you can trust me on that." She melodically trills.

How much did Soldiers like him truly know about Jenova? Most likely nothing. "Something has escaped. And this something isn't just your normal everyday monster. No." She shakes her head and then pauses to look directly into his eyes with a piercing stare. "It is the source of all madness." She whispers.

No one was listening to her, no one realized the implications. Not yet. No one in ShinRa seemed to care at least and she needed someone too. It was driving her just as crazy evidently. She had picked the one person she presumed to take nothing seriously at all. Roche. But he was in danger too and she didn't want to lose all familiar faces around her. She had already lost the most important one.

She sighs and calms herself, trying to reign in her erratic tone. She takes her phone out, scrolling to a screen with a list of meetings and tasks. "Why are you meeting with the Professor?" She asks. "What is this appointment you have?" She taps her nail upon the box on her screen. "It isn't time for your Mako injections yet, and why with him..." Her brow furrows as she mulls the question over in her own mind.

She knew Hojo focused on naught but one thing lately, and that Roche was just as minuscule to him as any other Soldier that passed through these walls. "What has he offered you?" She sets her phone face down on the table and looks up at him.
