When spreading the news of their breakup: "Soon they'll go home to their husbands. Smug 'cause they know they can trust him" (How Did It End?)

He'd become a "cheating husband" and the other man who is vying for her is asking her to move to Florida (Fortnight) and then the mention of "and your cheating husband dissappeared" (Florida!!!)

i was immediately drawn to the lyric about being left at the house by the heath and i’ve spent the last few days trying to work out why. i realized as someone who has lived in several different places i’m very well aquatinted with moving somewhere new and feeling like you’re always just a lil out of place. and i know it was her decision, but i can only imagine how difficult it must’ve been to move away from everyone and everything familiar; trying to fit into an existing friend group with their own inside jokes and traditions and different points of reference. and then you get left all on your own coz your partner thinks you’re a fucking liability. it’s not a surprise it broke her

We were so incredibly on point that day when we discussed that their relationship came to a massive turning point in 2021 and never recovered. Taylor overstayed the entirety of 2022 and has a lot of regret that she did. Perhaps if she hadn’t stayed hoping a cure would come through, she wouldn't have exited the relationship in the fashion she did and the entire manic episode could've been avoided? Making an entire album focussed on Joe would be like going after a dead man/beating a dead horse. She shares that he neglected her, resented her, preferred spending time with other women, and basically left her devoid of any love and affection - she’s explicit about these problems/his behaviour, but none of this is a focus of any one song or songs directed at him. Their intimacy was catalysed by arguments which was mostly caused by her fighting for the relationship, trying to keep it (and him) alive.

She's clearly cognizant of his mental health which so adds an extra layer to this. She even expresses her uncertainty with how it ultimately ended - because these were all issues in the relationship while still ongoing: cheating happened and they remained together; he neglected her and they remained together; he resented her and her success and they remained together. It was the totality of all of this that of course meant it had to end. But because it all was accepted until it wasn’t, it’s confusing even to her how it finally did (How Did it End).

So the story of them can be found throughout the album for the listener to pick up and it's by using a much shorter but also incredibly painful relationship as a vessel. This might just be the biggest feat she's ever accomplished as a songwriter and I applaud her for succeeding so wonderfully.

Here I am with a new chapter... hope you like it. We are almost at the end. :)

Rowan was running late and he hated it. He had been out on a firehouse visit and the inspection had lasted longer than he wanted and now he was rushing towards the bookshop, excitement bubbling through him. Aelin had a doctor’s appointment and they were hoping to finally discover the gender of the baby. They had tried at the previous visit but their child had decided to be cheeky and not reveal themselves. Before leaving the firehouse he had texted Aelin to let her know he was on his way. And while he was giddy at experiencing all that he had missed during Aelin’s first pregnancy  Maya had become fascinated by the idea of having a sibling and she had been also inquisitive about her growing belly so Rowan had done some research to find a suitable book to explain to a toddler what was happening. It was followed by a lot of interesting evening with some really challenging questions. 

CUUUTE, I love that Rowan is getting to experience the things he couldn't at first, finally having the chance to be as fussy as he wants to with his girl 🤣🤣

i love the…. almost horror aspects of this album. all the references to ghosts and death…. and sonically, the unexpected shrieking in WAOLOM and the banging and screaming during “old habits die screaming” and even the way the tension subtly builds across the sixteen tracks and by the end you’re so stressed and shaken it’s like! losing your sense of self and feeling like you’ve become a monster is horror. and i’m sooooo glad she leaned into it

levitating down the street!!! being abducted by aliens and then spit back out!!! feeling like she was being watched and hunted!!!!! this shit is fucking SCARY!!!!!!!!! because losing yourself is SCARY. it IS a horror story.
