Another casual inclusion of incest in the world of Game of Thrones. Justification for shipping a family relation was not usually something Sam had to look for, since when was incest ever okay-- But somehow, someway, those bastard writers found a way to give her an inner conflict she never thought she’d have.

Shivering, she turned off her laptop and shook her head. No sense in thinking about it. It was just fiction. It was more fun to focus on the dragons and the dead soldiers anyway--White walkers? That’s what they were called, right? Sam sometimes got confused between the shows she watched. Obviously, there was more good TV than she had the time to watch, and being in Korea made it even harder to keep up.

It was time to leave her small apartment anyway. Sam slipped on her sneakers and grabbed her keys, leaning down to kiss Mameul’s, her pet dalmatian, head goodbye before heading out. It was cool outside, thankfully. Summer might be her favorite season, but she couldn’t stand sweating. Heat in Korea could be pretty bad, but she didn’t have to worry about it today. In the corner of her eye, she saw a merchant selling rice cakes and other Korean type street food. She didn’t know the names of them all, but she’d learn. What better way to educate herself than to eat her way through the country?

Without putting on her shoes, Sam stepped out onto the white sand. She wasn’t sure what beach she was on, or where Daeyoung transported her to. One minute she was home, the next... How could this happen? Could he really be telling the truth?

The dogs flew past her, running towards the seashore. She almost wanted to stop Mameul, tell her it was some sort of trap. This couldn’t be real. But she was feeling it. The sand was there, she could smell the salty ocean. She looked back at Daeyoung, and for a second, she forgot they were arguing at all.

“Can you get your wheelchair onto the sand? Or do you have more...” Sam stopped herself. Was she really going to say it out loud? It would make it real. It would signify ‘Yeah. I believe you.’

His tattoos were somehow... Moving? Was he having an allergic reaction? her nose scrunched up, furrowing her eyebrows in thought. “If this is true... Do something magical right now.” She looked at Mameul try to squeeze around Chongal’s large head to get to the water--The bowl wasn’t large enough for the both of them. Sam Got up to fill up a regular bowl with water as well, putting it down for the puppy to drink out of.

Sam placed her cell phone on the other side of the room, knowing there couldn’t possibly be any wires or tricks in her house. “I want you to levitate my phone up--And bring it to me.”

“I’m glad to hear that.” She couldn’t help but smile when she saw Chongal all over him. It was cute that they bonded so quickly. It was hard to believe that they just met each other not too long ago.

Sam got up to put some water in the doggy bowl, offering it to either dog to drink if they’d like. She scratched at the back of her neck, looking over at the boy. There was no sense in beating around the bush.

“So... You said you were a wizard. Like. A real life wizard. Was that a practical joke?” There was no sense in lying to her now. No one would lie about that for so long, and she was curious to hear his explanation.

"I needed some, yeah.” She nodded slowly but stepped aside anyway. This was probably going against her better judgment, but she wanted things back to normal. They were going to talk it out, and she really did believe in his apology. She blushed a little, realizing how truly puny her apartment was in comparison to his. It was a little embarrassing for him to be here now more than before since she knew where he lived.

She went to go sit back on her bed, crossing her legs as she looked towards him. "So.. We’ve needed to talk, huh. How have you been? Please... Be honest this time.”

Sam slowly stood up. She wasn’t one to play hard to get, but she didn’t want him to think she was overly eager. “Just one second!” She ran her hand through her hair, fixing it up in the mirror. Lightly putting on some lipgloss, she rubbed her lips together and looked down at the Doberman. She let him follow her to the door.

She looked down at the clearly apologetic looking man, crossing her arms as she leaned against the doorframe. Sam wasn’t sure if she should let him come inside, she doubted he’d ask her to.

“So... You missed me, huh?”

txt: This is only step one you know

txt: did you miss me?”

She bit her upper lip as she sent that message. She wondered what he would say. There were quite a few times that Sam tried to illicit a response from him--He’d always pretend he never heard her, or give her an indirect response. She looked outside the window, finally seeing him roll towards her apartment. Was she ready to be alone with him? She definitely needed to talk to him about building trust again.

Daeyoung was nowhere in sight. It was weird, she didn’t know how someone on a wheelchair can knock, leave this, and escape so quickly--It didn’t make a lot of sense to her. She allowed the dog to come into the apartment. If Dae wanted him back, he should come and get him. Sam pulled the basket of things into her apartment, feeling conflicted as to whether or not to accept them. But, they were her puppy, and she was sort of relieved he gave her things she couldn’t provide for her.

Sam laid on her stomach, looking out the window as she stared to check for the boy. He must be around the neighborhood somewhere. She opened the letter and slowly began to read it. An hour passed, she was still contemplating on the words in the letter. Should she talk to him? Her hand went to grab her phone, writing texts, then deleting them, then writing them again. Finally, she started to press send.

txt: you know I’m not going to object to you buying me things anymore

txt: don’t regret spending your money on me

She hoped her words came off as playful. She wasn’t sure if she totally forgave him, but she did miss him.

Hearing a knock on the door, she jumped up a little. Sam didn’t know anyone  in Korea, so she wasn’t expecting anyone to knock on her door. Maybe it was the landlord. Was it time for her rent? Her mom usually was the one that dealt with that-- She picked up her pepper spray just in case, carefully opening the door. “Who is iiit--” Blinking twice, her eyes went straight to the dog, panting in front of her. “Changol? What are you doing here?”

Her eyes went down to the basket on the floor. She couldn’t help but pout as she leaned down. It was all stuff for Mameul, all the things she couldn’t afford. She picked up the letter that she saw, then stood up to look around. “Where’s your owner, hmm?”

A week or so passed after the incident. Sam mostly stayed home on her bed, going on for the occasional walk to get Mameul healthy. She didn’t want to punish her dog for things that happened between her and Dae. Sometimes when she went for a walk, she thought she saw someone on a wheelchair. But the image disappeared as soon as it came.

She was still in denial, about everything. The idea that magic could exist was almost… Too exciting. If it ended up being a lie too, she would be crushed. It was like having a childhood fantasy come to life only to be told it was all a trick of the eye. Imagine the things she could do with magic. Maybe she could go back in time, learn who her father was, stop him from leaving. Maybe she could potion up a cure for her motion sickness and go on all the roller coasters she wanted to—

…The two scenarios were vastly different in importance, but the idea that magic could open up doors for her that she never thought possible…

But, she wasn’t an idiot. A kid’s dream of waving a wand and shit was just that. A dream. Dae didn’t seem to even need a wand. It made sense if it was fake and all. She looked down at her feet as she laid in bed. Korea was so exciting for a moment there. Now, it was back to the boring reality that she was here alone, and all her friends were back home in Boston.

Sometimes, she’d catch herself staring at her phone, hoping to see if he texted her or something. She was always disappointed when there wasn’t anything—Even though she shouldn’t be. For a moment, it felt good to have that nervousness, the playfulness of liking someone. Even if he didn’t return her feelings, which, it seemed like he didn’t, she got to be as close to him as she wanted to. And that was honestly good enough for her at the time.

Although they were friends for a short amount of time, now it felt like she was missing something. A piece to the puzzle of her life, and she couldn’t find it. She could learn to live without it, probably. She just wasn’t sure she wanted to.

“This bitching--” She gaped at him, crossing her arms as she looked at him. Fuck man, was she going through the motions with him. First she was sad, then she was scared--Now she was getting pissed off. Being ‘untruthful’ was an understatement, and it seemed like to her, that he didn’t know exactly what he was doing. “Let me break it down for you.”

“So, I come to your house. I get drunk, I sleep over. You tell me you like me, you confirm in the morning, we eat together. Your puffball freaks me out, causing me to fall over, and instead of helping me up, you laugh at me. I tell you that thing is not a hamster, because I dunno, I have more than two brain cells, and you treat me like I’m an idiot. So then I go, huh. Maybe he actually doesn’t really like me.”

Now that she’s on a rant, she felt like she couldn’t stop. Before when she was convinced that he was a psycho, she wanted to placate him so he wouldn’t kill her. Sam wasn’t comfortable in this environment, but she had a feeling he wouldn’t do anything to hurt her. “Because, well, I dunno. If a guy likes a girl, he wouldn’t just laugh at her and make her feel dumb. He wouldn’t just ignore her questions and expect her to move on. Then he wouldn’t lock her in the house because she got upset and make her actually fear for her life.”

Her eyebrows furrowed, taking a gulp before continuing. “You’re not entitled to anything from me because of your past. You’re living the life now--You have a family, you have money, and clearly being in a chair doesn’t bother you so... Why are you trying to get me to feel sorry for you?”

Sam looked over at the door. She didn’t fully understand what he was talking about, and how could getting out lead her home, but maybe that’s where she needed to go. Get in bed, have a long nice cry, then forget this all happened. It was hard to do that, with everything that went on between them. This wasn’t a normal kind of fight, he wasn’t a normal kind of person. Losing the guy that she knew that morning, the guy she knew the day before, it’d break her heart. But it seemed like that guy didn’t exist, and she didn’t know who she was sitting with now.

“Are you really getting mad again? Your cycle of crying and anger is really tiring.” She rubbed her face and slowly stood up, walking towards the door. She looked over her shoulder at him once more before she left. “You know, I really did like you back.”

“I get where you’re coming from.” And she really did. But there were rational ways to handle a situation, and his actions went beyond rationality. God Forbid she actually did insult his parents. What would he have done to her then? The way he spoke, his actions. He was trying to guilt her into forgiving him, make it all go away. “But I don’t know what the adopting you has got to with your anger problems. Not everyone in the world is going to like your parents. Are you going to hunt them all down and kill them?”

Sam sucked in her cheeks, taking a deep breath as she furrowed her eyebrows. It showed pictures of puffballs, much like Poof. Honestly, the pictures were adorable. And normally, she would’ve been overjoyed to look at them. She couldn’t read the writing, but she stared at the images anyway, hoping to understand what Poof was and what Daeyoung was trying to convey.

This was about the 5th time that he mentioned that he was a wizard. It was strange. She didn’t know whether to laugh or have him checked out for a mental disability. However, too much went on that she didn’t have an explanation for, and she was finding it harder and harder to just simply dismiss his claims. She didn’t convey to him her lack of belief--She wasn’t sure he’d fess up to lying, and she wanted to know where he was going with this regardless. With money, rich people could do impossible things. This could be any kind of magic movie art that he was trying to trick her with.

“I’m having... A really hard time focusing on what you’re saying.” Sam leaned down to sit on the floor. That day was filled with nothing but a roller coaster of emotions, and she couldn’t handle this on top of it too. Sam loved magic. She loved the idea of it, the fantasy, and normally, if she wasn’t so upset, she’d eat all this shit up, real or not. But right now, she was upset. What’s worse is that she had no one to turn to. She couldn’t go to her mom about this, she’d force her to go back home. Dae was the only true friend she made in Korea so far, and it turned out he wasn’t a true friend at all.

Was he talking to her? She furrowed her eyebrows, still trying to get her bearings. Slowly, but surely, the nausea went away, and she could see the library for what it was. There was some kind of unicorn situation going on in the center, and there was a lot of special effects happening around her. She wasn’t sure what Daeyoung was doing. Somehow, he was on the floor, playing with a book. It didn’t make any sense to her. Why would he bring her here—And how did he do that, for that matter—And why he didn’t seem to know she was here or something.

The fact that Mameul didn’t attend to her worried her on two levels. A) She was no where near the dog. B) The dog didn’t know her own name well enough yet to respond. She supposed she didn’t have many answers to questions, and only more questions came flooding in when she finally paid some attention o what he was doing. His apology was abrupt, and she wasn’t sure if it was genuine. He spoke of two worlds—She assumed that of the rich and that of the… Not so rich. “You’re going to… Teleport me?”

Is that what he did? Is that how she got here? Teleportation? Someone recently asked her what was her favorite superpower. Maybe this was Daeyoung’s crazy way of trying to impress her. Maybe he just had too fiery of a temper. Could she handle that? Wasn’t he dangerous?

Sam gulped down when she heard him sniff. She looked down at her shoes, leaning against a table as she tried to think out her next course of action. She was probably being naive all over again, but the storm seemed to have passed. Her phone wasn’t even on her anymore, so any shot of calling the police was gone now. Whatever this place was, whatever he was trying to convey to her, she was curious about it.

Curiosity killed the cat. Was she that dumb?

“Do you lose your temper a lot?”
