I'm very late to this game because I'm on tumblr every 6 months when a new book is released, but I listened to a few of these and yours was by far my favorite & I listened to the entire thing. And no, I don't think your accent is too thick. I'm from New Jersey and was expecting a lot more tang. Plus, I'm a Sam, too! 😘

I was pondering the Greek ideals of love. Agape, of course, the highest love, the love that Gods feel. Then eros, romantic love; and philia, the love of friends; and storge, the love of family.

Lady Midnight, Cassandra Clare

i still don’t comprehend “higher love.” how can it be love, if it’s not the one we feel?

Avatar
sammyreno

@imacrappuchino I love my husband more than life itself, but when I became a mom, it became an entirely different kind of love I've never felt before. That's "higher love" to me. The love that Gods feel is the same love a parent feels for their child. I'd tear the world apart for my husband, but I'd burn every galaxy down for my kids. I can live and thrive without my husband. He doesn't complete me and I don't complete him. My kids, though, I don't know if I could find a reason to breathe without them.

It’s why we love art so much. Paintings, music, poetry, journals filled to the brim with drawings and sharp words - they explain our feelings. They put into words what we can’t say out loud. They show us we’re not the only ones who feel lost at times, who struggle, who find joy in creativity. Please don’t ever give up on your art. Don’t let anyone convince you it’s not worth it. You don’t know whose day you could light up by showing what they’ve been longing to say but never knew how to.

Azriel and Elain

The way Azriel reacts to Elain makes me think Elain is his mate. SJ said the fae could have more than one mate back when we were all asking about Aelin and Rowan. So what if she said that knowing she was going to write a character that had more than one mate. What if because of the way she was made the Cauldron crossed some kind of metaphysical line and she ended up being a match for both Lucien AND Azriel! @fuckyeahazriel @propshophannah @sparkleywonderful @crochanblackbeak @paperbacktrash @readinglikewildfire

This actually came to my mind.  Espically at that one part when he looks at Elain and then winnows away without saying anything to anyone.  I don’t think I would mind a story like that, that addressed the prospect of having two mates.  Maybe it could have something to do with the fact that the cauldron screwed up, like it gave too much of it power to nesta and now to males think elain is there mate, but elain only has one.

Actually, I noticed Elain didn’t seem that interested in Lucien, and I understand that was becasue she still loved Graysen and maybe the mate bond hadn’t yet falling into place between the two of them, but what if Elain is Luciens mate and Elain is Azriel’s mate, but Elain only has one (between the two of them) and it hasn’t fallen into place yet.  So what I mean is, Elain can be someones mate but they might not be hers in return

Also, the fact that Nesta "stole" from the Cauldron, but Elain was "given" something - maybe since her choices as a human were robbed from her, she was given choices between mates. In the beginning of the book when she says something about no one ever seeing her, Azriel steps up to the plate and begins to see her (and he wasn't even there for that convo about no one seeing her). I wasn't keen on the idea of Lucien and Elain. I like Az and Elain from that very first meeting at the family's human estate, but then when Lucien stood up for her in Hybern, I said "eh, maybe?" But I'm just getting to Part 3 of ACOWAR of my second reading, and every time I see Azriel's name, I think more and more of him and Elain. Just my two cents.

G - grossest memory - The hours before childbirth. I adopted my son, had six miscarriages and was told I'd never carry full term. When I got pregnant with my daughter, I was on bedrest the entire 9 months, disgustingly sick for 8 of them, and as grateful as I am for my little miracle and as much as I love that little girl for the blessing she is, I had an awful pregnancy and would never, ever do it again. I don't even fully trust people who say they enjoy being pregnant. The hours before she came, 🤢🤢, gross. Hellooo!! I've been reading everything on ur tumblr about acowar and I was wondering how many stars did you did give it or how would you rate it */10?

Um, I gave it a 2/5 on Goodreads. Which would translate to a 4/10. Not my favorite book of hers by a long shot.

Have you posted why you only gave it 2/5? Or could you please link me to your Goodreads so that I could read your explanation there? I don't disagree with you. It's not my favorite book of hers at all, but I'd still give it a 3/5. I wasn't even a fan of ACOTAR, and read it only because of my love for the TOG series. I don't think I would have finished that book if it wasn't for Rhys (the only interesting character in the book). ACOMAF, I read out of pure curiosity and it was probably my favorite or second favorite book of hers to date. Sticking with the author and her series, I had to read ACOWAR to find out what happened and was generally unenthused throughout - not because of any specific event or plot point, but just the feel of the story. I am on my second, slower reading to take it all in and actually digest the words and scenes, so I may end up agreeing with you that it's only a 2/5 instead a 3/5.

ACOWAR : TOG

Spoilers Warning! Do NOT read if you are not finished ACOWAR! Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm on my second, slower read of ACOWAR and this is when I read to digest what I've already sped past in my impatience to find out what happened, and came across this scene with the Carver: “The Carver traced three overlapping, interlocked circles in the dirt. “You have met my sister—my twin. The Weaver, as you now call her. I knew her as Stryga. She, and our older brother, Koschei. How they delighted in this world when we fell into it. How those ancient Fae feared and worshipped them. Had I been braver, I might have bided my time—waited for their power to fade, for that long-ago Fae warrior to trick Stryga into diminishing her power and becoming confined to the Middle. Koschei, too—confined and bound by his little lake on the continent. All before Prythian, before the land was carved up and any High Lord was crowned.” Cassian and I waited, not daring to interrupt. “Clever, that Fae warrior. Her bloodline is long gone now—though a trace still runs through some human line.” He smiled, perhaps a bit sadly. “No one remembers her name. But I do. She would have been my salvation, had I not made my choice long before she walked this earth." “I waited and waited and waited, picking apart the story he laid out like crumbs of bread. “She could not kill them in the end—they were too strong. They could only be contained.” Three overlapping, interlocked circles - isn't that the Eye of Elena?! The two in the middle and the one on the outside. Elena was a Fae warrior, and her bloodline is now only left in humans - Dorian and Aelin. She couldn't kill them and they could only be contained - LIKE IN THE EYE OF ELENA!!!!! Maybe I'm reaching, but my mind is blown until someone tells me otherwise.

so, do you think its pretty likely that the following series will follow on from acowar then? I know a lot of people have theorised that it would follow the Miriam/Drakon story or even with entirely different characters in a completely different court, but tbh sjm seems way too invested in the acomaf characaters - especially nessian (she mentions them in like, every single interview she does) and from what ive gathered the ending is really ambiguous and prominent ships not yet established!

Yeah, I think it will follow where ACOWAR ended. They still have to contact the queens (Nesta wants to kill them), they need to work on a peace treaty, and stop any Fae that are hostile to humans from crossing into the human lands and enslaving or harming humans.

Theories/What I think we will get a spinoff that will entail:

Can we all take a minute to worship @propshophannah?! Every time I see a post of hers, I fall a little more in love. I want to see ALL of this, and I want to see it in third person from everyone's perspective like we do in TOG series, since SJM said recently how difficult it was to speak in first person all of the time.

High Lord Lucien

“I’d say that sounds more High-Lord-like than the life of an idle, unwanted son.” A long, steely look. “Did you think it was mere hatred that prompted my brothers to do their best to break and kill me?” Feyre figures it out. Lucien's brothers know, too. Does Helion know? We need answers!
