Ellie, 28, she/her, really likes video games and visual novels. Pretty much just a fandom blog.

Incredibly funny that Byleth’s Dark Emblem is Nemesis, who they only fight on one route, instead of like, Solon or Thales, who I believe you fight on all routes or is at the very least an enemy on all routes

It's because it's supposed to be all final bosses, and considering the other options would be Rhea or Edelgard I'm assuming IS went with the safe option that wouldn't stir up that particular debate. It would be pretty funny if 3H was the only exception though.

I saw a low effort “this game > this other game” post on Twitter saying FE Engage is apparently infinitely better than Shin Megami Tensei V, which actually got me thinking about how I had pretty similar experiences with both games lol (at least broadly speaking).

I mean, seriously. Divisive games within their respective franchises, lauded for their gameplay and lambasted for their story and writing that I ended up really loving. To me, these are both games that exemplify the concept of good gameplay carrying a mediocre story, and yet they’re both very controversial games because they don’t have amazing stories.

Idk maybe that just says more about me and my taste than anything lol

Hard agree. I haven't finished Engage yet because I got it somewhat late, but I've been thinking about how it really feels like SMTV which I also love. The gameplay really carries both and just make them into fun games.

SMTV definitely looks better (especially the environments) and Engage have a more interesting and fun cast. I don't really care that they are lacking in story, because there are other entries in the series that does that better but they are just more fun to actually play than their predecessors.

Okay Nekromanteia is definitely one of the worst Big Finish releases and generally sucks on every level, but...

I still find it funny that it (presumably accidentally) confirmed the Doctor is non-binary back in 2003.

Basically Peri and Erimem lose the Doctor, as you do, and this guy offers to scan the planet for any male lifeforms and can't find the Doctor. It's supposed to be because the Doctor is "dead" but the next episode reveals that event was undone so The Doctor was very much around on the planet at the time so the only explanation is that Five just doesn't register as male.
