Inking my man Bolverk for @bannersaga . His inks are coming out a lot looser and heavier than the trio design. I think in part its due to the different stylistic intents. They’re more Dream Evil/Hammerfall, Bolverk is more Dimmu Borgir/Amon Amarth. I should have waited to post my reaction to The Last Jedi later. I should have given it time to process. It’s REALLY good. Not your typical Star Wars film and that’s a good thing. Luke has some of the best character work he’s ever had.
One of my friends commented this on Facebook: “ I think Luke’s characterization and choices in the third act are some of the most authentically Luke Skywalker things they could have done. People who wanted some super jedi Luke (and if what he does isn’t super jedi I don’t know WHAT is) are forgetting that this is the same man who defeated the galaxy’s greatest evil by throwing his lightsaber away, not picking it up. Luke has always been a terrible fighter, but he’s great at saving people. Rian Johnson absolutely got it. And he brings Luke to a place where he gets it too. Even in his self loathing he’s so mature. His history lesson about the Jedi was AWESOME. Right out the door he’s pulling down the idolized pillars of Star Wars myth. His acts in the finale are like him placing a cornerstone for the future. He’s stripped the jedi order to the dirt it was built on and his last act is to show everyone what the jedi should REALLY be about, to build on THAT. “
