HIII, new kid in F1blr here. I, uh, I watched DtS and the last six races and I've been binge watching old interviews and getting to know all the tea sooooo why so many people dislike Ocon? I mean, he was so sweet in DtS and he has those bambi eyes, why do people dislike him? :( I'm sorry if this is random, but it's hard to keep up with the f1 blogs in here when it comes to this kind of stuff. I know he has beef with Gasly, but what else did he do for people to openly dislike him? :(
Hey ho! I have been inactive for very long on f1blr and rarely come back, but I'm happy to answer with what I know.
I think people mostly dislike him bc in the 2018 season he was crashing a lot and causing a bit of trouble for drivers who were way higher up in the points so he kinda got this "troublesome guy" image if you know what I mean, for example he once crashed with Verstappen when he was the race leader and Esteban was behind a whole lap, that move especially made a lot of people dislike him (and I agree that that was a stupid and unnecessary move but hating the whole guy for that? dunno) He didn't have a seat for 2019 and I think that had to do a lot with his actions like that in 2018. He sometimes still has sort of "aggressive" moves, which does not sit well with everyone, but he has certainly improved in my opinion.
I don't really know much about the personal dramas nowadays tbh so I can't comment on his beef with Gasly or anyone else, I don't really follow news like that
But I think Esteban is a very talented driver, he and his family fought a lot for him to be able to race so I truly respect that and I think he is a great guy (although I don't know him personally so ofc I have no idea about his irl personality), I've been his fan since the beginnings and I still support him to this day, but it is always important to recognize when your fav makes a mistake I think
