THE SIMS GROVE

@thesimgrove / thesimgrove.tumblr.com

My real name is Tanya. I'm obsessed with Sims 3 and Outlander. On here you're going to find my interior and exterior design shots, legacies, my CCs for download, Outlander and whatever comes to mind at the time. Occasionally, I post NSFW stuff but they are tagged.

TSM Female Nightgowns

Someone asked about this last year, and also I had a story-scene in mind. The male version is here. These two are currently not available for teen and elder. These being medieval and from TSM, they have a slight potato-sack feeling to them and I suspect it will increase on teens.

They’re feet- and shoe compatible, and enabled for pregnancy. Not Vaild for Random by default, but you can easily enable this yourself.

All About Style - Fixed and Updated Outfits

Here are several historical clothing items from All About Style (site closed down), which were no longer showing in game. I reassembled all of them in TSRW, added normal-maps and a second lowpoly mesh. To some I also made minor improvements like adding a fourth channel, or making details optional in a second preset. Some of the adult female clothing is also sporadically maternity-enabled, without adjusted animations though.

Download: Dropbox | SimFileshare

Left to right, top to bottom:

  • af Puffy Sleeves
  • af Puffy Sleeves 2
  • af Victorian Blouse (2 presets)
  • af ¾ Blouse Lace
  • af Victorian Jacket (tucks under the skirt now. I only fixed this last minute)
  • af Victorian Skirt (3 presets. Also found in this set. Mine has edited channels in the 3rd preset)
  • af 20s Outerwear Coat (4 presets with CaSt-able fur and/or striped skirt. Only two shown here)
  • ef Victorian Blouse 2
  • tf Puffy Sleeves (2 presets)
  • cu Top with Collar (+ Belt) (Two separate packages, in order to give both a normal-map of their own)
  • ef Bloomers
  • tf Victorian Full Skirt (2 presets. The second one is plain, without the drapery)
  • tf Bloomers
  • tf Shoes Victorian
  • cf nightgown
  • cm Short Pants

Everything else by All About Style can be downloaded here and here. A preview-index is on my to-do list, but you’ll see that this is no small task…

Updated with a SFS link. Also the Dropbox folder moved one step down in the folder structure, so if you click the link in an older version of this post, you have to navigate to “Fixed and Updated”.

Ok, just a few things:

  • Apparently I haven’t downloaded every piece of medieval CC known to man, which makes me very happy.
  • Also, HELLO, I am going back to my medieval save because I’m in AWE over how much effort went into this world, this is crazy.
  • This is what The Sims Medieval should have been.

Installing stubborn .sims3packs

This is probably common knowledge by now but either my GoogleFu is failing or I just couldn’t find it 😅 Either way, I came across this annoying error while trying to install some older .sims3packs from TSR (admittedly, they’re from way back in 2010, but they’re too pretty to pass up!):

$Name.sims3pack: Installation failed: Please make sure your game has the latest Software Updates and try again. Done!

(As a sidenote, that “Done!” has big “Task failed successfully” energy.)

If you come across this and you know it’s not your game’s fault (I’m patched to 1.63), simply:

  1. open up the .sims3pack in TSRW;
  2. go to Edit \ Project Contents;
  3. go to Export \ To .package.

Do NOT export it as a .sims3pack! I’ve found that my game couldn’t see the file, and simply selecting it in the Launcher crashed it.

I haven’t found any issue with the stuff (fences) I exported like this—the game can read them properly, and Process Monitor doesn’t freak out like when I tried converting them via the Multi Installer and was getting access times in the millions from 5-6 files.

Oh, and make sure you either select and remove it from the Launcher, or go to the Downloads folder in My Documents and delete it from there.

^ that is the bad copy created by the first attempted install.

To Play Sims 4 or Not to Play Sims 4

I have been away for quite a LONG time for many of reason. One of the most important is my very old computer would no longer run Sims 3 very well even a completely vanilla version. So now I have a new computer and I’m working from home because of this pandemic and bored out of my mind and miss The Sims. My son suggested since I’m starting over with Sims I should bite the bullet and play Sims 4 instead. He’s been playing the Xbox version and loves it. I have the Sims 4 base game and tried playing it once and immediately uninstalled it. The whole idea of something new and having to start from scratch with packs and their costs turned me off. Now I’m curious again. Please tell me your thoughts on Sims 4? And what packs are worth getting.

Fallingwater

I tried to make the iconic Fallingwater house by Frank Lloyd Wright. It’s not perfect but it looks close enough. It’s a 64x64 lot (sorry) and it is unfurnished. I hope you like and enjoy it!

If you want to see more “iconic” houses just let me know.

I managed to get a gazebo in the water for the Rookery :D

Also, just to let you all know, I have gone hog wild with the plants in this house. It’s ridiculous, truly. But I can just say that since a nature fairy lives here that’s why it’s surrounded by so much plant life. So obviously, for story purposes, I’m obligated to landscape.
