He pulled back somewhat reluctantly. Selfishly, all Matthias wanted to do was kiss her, and keep kissing her, until they were both dizzy. But this was important to her, so he’d put that on the backburner. For now. “Let’s start with something simple. . Like lighting a candle.” He looked around the room until he found one, then stood up and walked over to retrieve it.
Image

She watched him go get the candle, slowly settling herself into the bed, before she sat up and sat crossed legged, watching her boyfriend with soft, curious eyes. “How does it work?” She asked after a moment. “Just.. Close my eyes and concentrate on lighting it?”

The second she agreed he found himself walking around to the passenger side of her car, getting in and sliding on his seat belt. His gaze going between her and the window beside him. Nerves he knew would turn up eventually beginning to rise the closer they got to their destination.
A hard swallow followed her action once the car was parked, top row of teeth chewing down on his bottom lip. “Me too.” He muttered, voice barely a whisper. His fingers gently cupping at her chin as he slowly lifted her head, eyes finding hers before closing the gap between them in a soft kiss.

For someone who had only had his first kiss that same day, Troy definitely knew what he was doing. Not too sloppy, not too wet, not too dry. His lips were soft as they molded in perfect sync with her own. Stealing the breath from her lungs and making her heart stutter inside her chest. Maybe he wasn’t as good as she praised him up to be, maybe jthe affect he had on her was fully because of the emotion she had for him.

Her body easily, effortlessly, glided over into his lap as their kiss continued, her hands coming up to slowly caress and hold his cheeks.

He doesn’t want to talk about that any more than he does Cheryl’s recent traumas. He doesn’t want to face the fact that his dad is putting himself right back in the spotlight, and Archie’s only been managing to screw things up with him on every level.
But it’s better for her if they talk about it. “Yeah. He loves this town, always has. This is something that he’s wanted since he was a kid.” Even before this election was in the cards, Archie knew that. His dad never thought that he could be mayor–he doesn’t have a college education, he runs a construction business, he’s obviously non-white. It had never seemed possible. Now, after Mayor McCoy, it is. He wants to be proud of his dad for going for this, but it just isn’t happening, because all he can feel is worry. He runs a hand through his hair with a sigh; Cheryl didn’t sign up for him to unload his feelings on her, so he needs to stop the train of thought before he says any of it out loud.

She had only met Archie’s father a handful of times. But in the time that she had spent around him, she’d noticed that if there was anyone left in the world that was truly good, it was him. Archie had been a good man too, and she was certain that it was fully because of how Fred had raised him. Archie had been a lucky one. Out of all the people they associated with.. He got the good parents. “Well, your fathers an amazing man.” She said softly, curving her lips upwards slightly. “The Andrews men seem to always have everyone elses best intentions in mind. Personally, I think he would make an amazing mayor. You can tell him as such too. If I still held any sway over my mother, or care for her, I would urge her to vote for him. But.. He can count on Nana Rose’s.”

Her mother would be someone she would refuse to interact with. But her grandmothers.. Well, she could still help her, convince her to vote.

“Whatever you want,” he breathed. He looked at her softly, her eyes full of adoration. He really would do anything for this girl. All she had to do was ask. The idea probably should have terrified him, but it didn’t.

Her eyes softened, watching him with sweet smile in place. “Well, my lovely boy. what’s the first lesson to magic?” Her voice was sweet whenever she regarded him, she found. He was too soft and too perfect for her to be anything but loving towards him.

The walk to her car, the hand holding, it all happened so fast. His head trying to keep up with the fact he was about to head somewhere private with none other than Cheryl Blossom. How he managed to get himself into the situation of falling for the girl he didn’t know, but the thought of being able to spend time with her caused a feeling he wasn’t use to. A flutter in his stomach that never left while with her.
His head nodded slowly at her words, the faint smile still very much present. “Sweetwater river?”

“Sounds perfect.” She hummed, grinning at the boy. She easily moved to glide into her car, sliding her seatbelt on and starting it up, waiting for him to join her before she was quickly speeding off towards the road to sweetwater river.

Her eyes drifted over to him after they had arrived, shutting her car off and leaning over to lightly kiss along his jaw. “I think this is much better than the school parking lot.”

He wants to ask her how she’s doing, but he doesn’t know how to actually say it without it sounding fake. He can’t even begin to understand what she’s been through; Veronica told him what it had been like there, but Cheryl had actually lived it. In the end, he decides not to say anything, instead just sitting down next to her with a smile. Showing solidarity by just being with her feels more real than fake platitudes and reassurances. At least it feels like he’s actually doing something to help her this way.

Cheryl Blossom had become a walking tragedy. The whole world knew of the terrible things that had happened to her in her short lifespan. They knew of the trauma she endured, and while the news was still new, she knew it was beginning to go around that she had spent time locked up for her sexuality. Of course her mother would claim differently, but it seemed.. Odd that they would talk to her about her ‘delinquent’ activities had she been sent there for any other reason. Toni and Veronica had been a couple of godsent friends, saving her from such heartache. She may not have been totally insane, but locked up inside that hellish place, she had begun to lose herself. She had never cried so much in her life. So when Archie Andrews took a seat next to her and gave her that little boyish smile that he was known for, yet, somehow made it softer, she knew what it was about. Unable to force her lips all the way into a smile, thinking about where she had spent her time to recently, she decided approaching him would make more sense than just sitting in silence: cCheryl had enough silence in her life.

“So.. I heard your dad’s running for Mayor.”

Matthias smiled softly. “You already know I’ll do whatever you want. If you want to learn magic, I’ll teach you.” He cupped the back of her neck and gently guided her forward so he could rest his forehead against hers.
Image

Her eyes slid shut as their foreheads rested together, sighing sweetly. “You’re amazing, Matthias.” Her voice was as sweet as syrup, hand moving to lightly tangle her fingers in his hair. “I want to learn.”

Her mind was spinning a little. “The fire fighters never found a reason as to why the house caught on fire.” She said after a moment of silence vibrating between them. “I… I remember pouring stuff over the house and dropping the candles into it. But they would’ve been able to tell that.” Her eyes went to him again. “I think I might’ve used magic.”
Image

“You were angry. . You were in pain. Yeah, I could see that sparking latent magic.” He could also understand how her magic wouldn’t manifest itself until now, given the oppressive environment she grew up in. “I could teach you, if you want.”

A little smile spread on her lips as he let her think it was a possibility. Not having someone shoot down her every idea felt nice. "Well, if anyone could teach me magic, it would be you." She murmured, leaning to kiss him lightly. "Id like to see if... if I have any."

“Let’s see. . Healing magic is typically associated with water, for its cleansing properties, and the earth– a lot of flowers and herbs can be used to speed up healing on their own, when you add magic they become even more potent. Fire and air are usually associated with protection, offense or defense. Fire magic in generally tends to be violent…” Matthias shrugged. “But you can also sort of. . mix and match, depending on what spell you use. The more practice you have using magic, the more you realize it’s more about instinct than anything else.”
Image

“I like the sound of magic.” She admitted to him, rubbing her thumb against his knuckles softly. “If it’s true, and I do have magic, is it a possibility that I’ve used it before without really.. Realizing? Or remembering?”

Image

“Sure, I guess so. . When I was a kid, I used magic accidentally all the time, especially when I got really emotional. As for not remembering– Maybe, if you were in denial about it. You said yourself that you didn’t believe any of this for years. It’s possible you could use it, then convince yourself something else happened. Something more ‘logical’,” he said, putting airquotes around the word logical.
