Hey, thanks a lot for this message! I’m glad you’re enjoying the podcast -- I know we had a lot of fun making it. 

So I have a deep read on Johnny and Daken’s relationship here that should clear some stuff up for you. The nature of the relationship is vague in canon, but Marjorie Liu, years after the stories were written, tweeted this:

So for me personally DakenJohnny is in a weird canon grey area where it happened, but Marvel is under very little pressure to acknowledge Johnny’s romantic or sexual interest in men.

That being said, I also have a history on the subtext of Johnny Storm and said romantic or sexual interest in men here.

I’d be up for a Johnny Cartoon Discussion episode if Yuuhy was, but unless some World’s Greatest Heroes-watching goes down it’ll be another “Traincat Talks Nonstop” episode ala the Lyja Times, so you could also just ask me @traincat because I would LOVE to do a list if only so I can find and use that gif of Johnny getting hit in the face by a cabbage.

If you do ask me (please ask me, don’t make me do this unprompted now that you’ve put the idea out there) it might take me a while to get to it, though -- I’m very behind on asks right now. (But definitely ask me so I can do it eventually.)

There’s two reasons I pronounce it the way I do! 1) Val’s name was originally supposed to be Meghan Valerie Richards (or Valerie Meghan Richards, I’m not looking at the comic with the death certificate right now), so I pronounce Valeria like Valerie but with an ‘a’. 2) I grew up around Hungarian grandparents and I have a bad habit of pronouncing things the way they would (emphasizing syllables is haaaard) so Valeria pronounced like “Valerian” sounds wrong to me.  I don’t actually know if it’s right, it’s just how I say it! I’m just stubborn and can’t change.

You’ll notice that I say it Va-LER-ia, except that I’m highly susceptible to suggestion and have probably said Valer-EE-a by accident as well. See also our different pronunciations of Attilan in whichever that episode was.

In conclusion, trust us on nothing, except Daken, which is dah-ken because it’s Japanese, and Namor, which is NAY-mor according to cartoons.

So I've been thinking I'd really like to see this podcast continue into just "what did the ff do this month?" if and when it comes back >

Anon, I honestly don’t know how to handle, emotionally, covering a comic in which Johnny will, in each issue, almost definitely not only appear but also have lines that are important and possibly even a character arc!! But it is lovely to know that people will still want to listen to us haphazardly recap comics even if it’s not in a “we read(/skimmed) Uncanny Avengers so you don’t have to” way. Thank you.

In the meantime, we have plenty of wild speculations about the FF’s return in the next two episodes. 💙
