Starship UI: Download

It’s here! It’s all finally here! After an entire year in development and facing several obstacles along the way, Starship UI has finally arrived! Now your eyes are finally free from bright white while simming at night!

More images can be found in this flickr gallery featuring 25 screenshots of Starship UI across the game.

Please note that as this uses Clean UI as a base, it will require all expansion packs and Mansion & Garden stuff to work as intended.

Features:

  • completely overhauled modern dark mode ui based on clean ui
  • several design changes to fit the ui appropriately
  • six new aesthetic loading screens
  • a matching dark mode widescreen bodyshop
  • custom dark cursors
  • integrated improvements such as clean ui lines by @ethanmcgregor

Bodyshop:

There is also a matching “Starship UI” dark mode bodyshop, based on Widescreen Bodyshop by SmugTomato on MTS.

Installation Process:

To keep it simple, the installation process is almost the same as Clean UI’s.

As a dark mode user myself, I will definitely try it out once I feel like playing this game again!

The Sims2RPC Rebrand + Update

Update timeee

Under the cut, I’ll be going over the changes and additions that I’ve made in the latest update.

Me right now. Did I just read high quality lot imposters? The last thing that we needed for a more modern Sims 2? Is this real life?

I don’t know how you did that, but this is simply amazing. Also the whole tool with its enhancements makes it all so much easier. Thank you so much!

Starship UI: PUBLIC BETA!  (Sims 2 Dark Mode)

Surprise!

To celebrate my first big project New Pleasantview turning a year old today, and getting close to 1,000 followers (thank you so much!) I’m releasing the public beta of Starship UI for everyone!

Starship UI was revealed in October last year and now it’s finally here for all simmers to test and play with!

I finally got it into a playable, functioning state a few weeks ago, and have been polishing it ever since.

Features:

  • Fully overhauled modern user interface based on @greatcheesecakepersona‘s Clean UI mod
  • “Bubble” design for the UI, based on feedback
  • Easier on the eyes, especially at night
  • White text for maximum readability
  • 6 new loading screens (coming soon)
  • Dark cursors (coming soon)

I am also announcing TWO new color variants of the UI, which I’ve been secretly working on for months: a vibrant, saturated pink, and a calming, soothing green, labeled “Pink Friday” and “Dreams” respectively. (Subject to change.)

The installation process is purposefully VERY easy:

There are multiple packages in the download zip file.
Each package is catered to a specific resolution (1600x900, 1920x1080)
Pick the package that best suits your monitor.
Place it in your downloads folder.
Place any extras (cursors, loading screens) in your games folder!

To report bugs, please go to this ModTheSims thread I made about Starship UI specifically. Forums tend to be much more helpful in tracking these kinds of bugs and sharing information, so I went that route.

Please enjoy testing and playing Starship UI! Thank you <3 - Red

Hey simmers, if you ever needed Clean UI in other colors than white, check out the Starship UI that @simstate created in record time! Thank you for your hard and dedicated work on this!

My first CC of 2021! Happy new year 💖

These are my addons to @greatcheesecakepersona’s Clean UI to help it feel more modern and cohesive.

There are a few changes.

  1. There’s a new D shape for the control area, reminiscent of TS4 & even TS3 and TS1 which didn’t have a perfectly circular UI like TS2 does.
  2. The thick border for important wants has been reduced to just a small triangle and a thin border.
  3. An oversight in neighborhood view where the zoom circle was slightly off-center has been fixed.
  4. [Optional] In a separate package is modified straight lines based on @ethanmcgregor’s connected lines. I recommend that you use either those or the included ones, but anything other than the included ones will have an overlap with the UI. (It doesn’t look terrible if it overlaps, just cleaner with my new ones.)

This requires Clean UI to be installed, both packages should load after it. It goes in the Downloads folder.

https://simfil.es/2250841/ & alternates coming soon!

Oh, what a great day to open tumblr! Look at these addons for Clean UI! I’m really glad some simmers are continuing my work and make more options available. I’ll add it to the recommended CC right now!

neighbourhood tulip fields

so here is something i’ve wanted for a *very* long time. i started these before the new year and since i’m big dumb, it has taken 2 weeks for me to get this right. but at long last! tulip fields! these are in bloom spring-autumn (their colours don’t change) and become a dirty old field for winter.

obviously this wouldn’t have been possible without @greatcheesecakepersona! As these are obviously their awesome seasonal fields. You will need the original fields (or at least the texture file for them) for these to work as I wasn’t sure if it was ok to put some of the textures into my own file. but you really should have the originals anyway because they’re the best.

they aren’t perfect, look a little weird up close, and might be a bit freakishly tall for tulips… but they come in both the 1x1 and 2x2 tile sizes, colours are as follows: red, orange, yellow, green, light blue, dark blue, purple, pink.

i have some other fields planned out now that i’ve defeated the dragon that is simPE / stopped making dumb baby mistakes.

any issues, please let me know! Its my first hood deco venture.

credits: greatcheesecakepersona and also criquette-was-here (the grass in the fields is from their rural charm terrain!)

Oh wow, look at these great looking fields! Thank you so much and I’m very excited to see more!

Now I really need to add a section to the fields’ downloads post for CC.

I can’t believe it myself, but I’m happy to say that Feverfew is now available! It would be crazy to put all the information directly here, so I’ve made a dedicated page accessible directly from my simblr top menu.

— The train is departing. Don’t forget your ticket!

Yeees it's here! Congratulations!

“Where are the loading screens stored?”-mystery solved!

During and after the development of Clean UI, I got so many questions on whether the animated parts of the ingame loading screens can be changed to fit to modern resolutions or Clean UI’s style. What I’ve always told was that the loading screens are hidden somewhere in the games files where we can’t find them.

But thanks to @redandvidya‘s Starship UI mod, we accidentally found the origin of them! For testing purposes, he deleted the whole base game ui.package only to find out that the animated part of the loading screen (see image) was gone. After further exploration we can now say that the animated loading screens are represented by the base game ui.packages’s uiScripts with the group ID 499DB772.

For the Ultimate Collection, the path to the ui.package is “The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection\Double Deluxe\Base\TSData\Res\UI\ui.package”.

An uiScript file normally describes the structure of an UI area, so it includes different kind of elements (texts, images, scrollbars...) that appear at certain positions. But in this case, if we look at the content of these uiScripts, we can see that they are actually RIFF-Files with just the uiScript extension. RIFF is being used to store multimedia data into a file.

I opened an uiScript (or RIFF file) in the program Riffpad to see if can parse it some way. What I saw were some values in the header and lots of “frme” entries, which I assume are frames. That fits perfectly to an animated sequence, also if we take the file size into account.

Sadly, that’s where the journey ends for now. I couldn’t a way to parse the content in some form. I’m not sure if this is even possible or if there is some kind of encryption.

Anyways, I just wanted to let you know that the loading screens are out there in reachable distance! But for now, we can’t do much with them. Maybe someone is up to this task?

Basic Linden Trees Redux + Default replacements

It’s finally here! Completely remastered set of linden trees.

There are 2 (two) download links. Choose only one!

Features:

  • Better mesh. Trees look less lowpoly and more fluffy keeping polycount at low.
  • Appearance/texture size. This is the main feature of the redux. In the original set, every tree had a 2048x1024 texture making the whole set weight about 23Mb, compressorized. Obviously, it was filling up the game memory quite hard. In this redux, the size of the whole set of six trees is 4,5Mb! And that is uncompressorized. Does it still looks good on closeups or near lots? Yes. The quality is the same. I’ve just used completely different technique making over all the trees, to achieve this result.
  • Sub.. substitutat.. substitutability! Yes, the new trees override the old ones, so you don’t have to replace all the trees manually. Just delete the old files from your ‘Downloads’ folder and put the new ones there.

Default replacements

As you may know, @lowedeus did an amazing job providing a set of DRs for maxis Oak trees, trees row and clumps of trees, replacing them with lindens. This redux comes with all these default replacements option already and it works the same as the old one replacing Maxis’ oaks, row of trees and two clumps of trees.

How to use

First, backup your neighborhoods. Just in case you accidentally load your game right after removing old trees from ‘Downloads’  folder without putting the new ones in. Because once it happens, all the trees in your neighborhood will be gone forever once the hood is loaded.

Please scroll further down for alternative ‘Default Replacement only’ Install Option.

Remove these old files from your ‘Downloads’ folder:

  • crqtt_basic_linden_tree_01a.package
  • crqtt_basic_linden_tree_02a.package
  • crqtt_basic_linden_tree_03a.package
  • crqtt_basic_linden_tree_04a.package
  • crqtt_basic_linden_tree_05a.package
  • crqtt_basic_linden_tree_06a.package

Put these new files in:

  • crqtt_basic_linden_tree_01a_RDX.package
  • crqtt_basic_linden_tree_02a_RDX.package
  • crqtt_basic_linden_tree_03a_RDX.package
  • crqtt_basic_linden_tree_04a_RDX.package
  • crqtt_basic_linden_tree_05a_RDX.package
  • crqtt_basic_linden_tree_06a_RDX.package

There. You’re done! If you’re using @lowedeus defaults, you have to remove these files from your ‘Downloads’ folder:

  • DEFAULT_lowedeus-CriquetteForest.package
  • DEFAULT_lowedeus-CriquetteRow.package
  • DEFAULT_lowedeus-CriquetteTrees.package

And then put these files in:

  • DEFAULT_MaxisOaks2CrqttLinden.package
  • DEFAULT_MaxisOaks2CrqttLindenForest.package
  • DEFAULT_MaxisOaks2CrqttLindenRow.package

Important:

the shadow fix you had to have in your ‘downloads’ folder in order to use Linden Trees DR must be also removed from your ‘Downloads’ folder, you don’t need it now.

Default Replacement Only alternative install

Please note, that the only difference between this option from the previous one is that it only saves you from having maxis AND custom trees in your ‘Flora hood deco menu at the same time (i.e. same 6 trees twice) in case of using the default replacements. There will be only Maxis’ Oaks replaced by lindens.

First, remove these files from your ‘Downloads’ folder:

  • DEFAULT_lowedeus-CriquetteForest.package
  • DEFAULT_lowedeus-CriquetteRow.package
  • DEFAULT_lowedeus-CriquetteTrees.package

Then, put these files in:

  • crqtt_DROnly_basic_linden_tree_01a_RDX.package
  • crqtt_DROnly_basic_linden_tree_02a_RDX.package
  • crqtt_DROnly_basic_linden_tree_03a_RDX.package
  • crqtt_DROnly_basic_linden_tree_04a_RDX.package
  • crqtt_DROnly_basic_linden_tree_05a_RDX.package
  • crqtt_DROnly_basic_linden_tree_06a_RDX.package
  • DEFAULT_MaxisOaks2CrqttLinden.package
  • DEFAULT_MaxisOaks2CrqttLindenForest.package
  • DEFAULT_MaxisOaks2CrqttLindenRow.package

Enjoy!

Signal boost! Look for a new shiny redux version of linden trees from Criquette - stand-alone, and default! So, my default replacement for maxis oaks has kinda outdated

STUDIO GHIBLI Loading Screens and Splash Music  by @knowledgeaspiration & @falkii

So this is a thing that literally nobody asked for! A little while ago I saw these awesome ghibli TS4 loading screen replacements by @minataphy, and it struck me that it would definitely be *fun* to try something like that for TS2 also falkii likes ghibli that’d be even more fun! AND THEN, @falkii mentioned that she could do the splash files (which I’m grateful for because you wouldn’t believe how bad I am at following tutorials)

I’ve made 11 loading screens!!! - obviously you don’t have to have them all, pick whichever you want, though TheLoadingRandomiser by greatcheesecakepersona (as well as CleanUI) is highly recommended, since the randomiser will allow you to have multiple screens and splash musics in game! They are various stills / wallpapers from different ghibli films.

The logo is from greatcheesecakepersona’s own loading screen replacements, and the katakana for ‘Ultimate Collection’, and ‘The Sims’ are up there too (I hope at least) - these are inspired by the Japanese menu for M&G.

I should mention that these were put together with 1920 x 1080 displays in mind and more specifically windowed fullscreen, I don’t know what anything bigger looks like with these, if you have a larger display there will be a blurry border (hence why the previews look a lil wacky)

@falkii put together 4 splash musics from Howl’s Moving Castle, Ponyo, Kiki’s Delivery Service and Porco Rosso, either pick one and replace the splash file in your latest EP or use the loading randomiser to have more than one. There is a readme file in the archive but I’ll post it below the cut too.

Enough talking and as always, if I’ve goofed - let me know! You can either go ahead and download all of them at once (which is kind of a big download if like me your internet is not great), the splash files only, or pick and choose screens from the SFS folder for smaller, kinder downloads!

ALL IN ONE (Screens & Music) @ SimFileShare [125.4MB]

credits: greatcheesecakepersona & adinc-sims for their useful templates!  studio ghibli, of course. falkii for putting together the splash music files

Thank you tumblr for putting this in my orbit!

[Finally working perfectly!]

I always thought the hobby info in the Freetime EP was very small, especially the font. Now I have been able to change that.

New bigger panel for HOBBIES for @greatcheesecakepersona #CleanUI.

New options:

  • next/previous
  • expand/collapse.

Happy simming!

Look at this! Even though I’m done with Clean UI, the first mods that further enhance the User Interface are out now! Check out @ethanmcgregor‘s tumblr for more!

In the Clean UI download post, I added a new section for Clean UI CC. So exciting!

DOWNLOAD: Clean UI DIY Kit

Do you want do make a modification to the user interface on the basis of Clean UI? Then the Clean UI DIY Kit is for you! You have an easy access to all images and uiScripts and there are a lot of helpful resources that will make the whole process faster!

Features:

- All images (edited and untouched, all Maxis originals) in .png format, some of them sorted - All uiScript files (edited and untouched, all Maxis originals), some of them sorted - XML import files for the images and uiScripts - Script that fetches only the required XML files for a more lightweight package - “ImageParser”: Extracts all images from an uiScript file - All cursors in .png format - Photoshop templates for most images & for all cursors - Photoshop actions - Photoshop library - New logo in original size - Loading screen template - Various tutorials, ex. for recoloring the UI or finding the right files - Original Clean UI packages (v1.4) included

Since you have access to the extracted Maxis UI files, you can also alter the original interface. The DIY Kit was created with Clean UI in mind however and I highly recommend that you use that as a basis.

I’m excited what you’ll do with the UI! If you want to publish your modification of Clean UI, feel free to do so, but please credit me and the authors of the included mods if you altered them as well.
