As someone who hates and loves Howard Stark, lemme explain. We love this man:

A kind, loyal, loving man. The man who was willing to sacrifice himself because his invention went sideways.

We hate this man:

A cold, lying, cheat. Who neglected to give his child emotional support, love, or a second of his attention.

I have no idea wtf happened between point A and B. Tony deserved the Howard we see in Agent Carter. Not the shitface we see everywhere else. I personally like to pretend that they are two different people, but that’s wishful thinking.
