Well, either way, the battle was over. Still, he didn’t expect to be so suddenly jumped when they were not too far from town. Maybe he should have, though. At least it didn’t seem lok they had taken too much damage. “Off beat…? I suppose that is one way to describe it…” He shook his head. “You’re right, though, we should get into the town as soon as possible.” The scholar walked forward, but soon paused for a bit.

“Ah, I forgot to mention. I plan to pay for both of our rooms at the inn.” Ah, maybe he should have said that a bit sooner? Oh well, hopefully she didn’t mind. The scholar was then quick to actually get into the town, and looked behind himself, to make sure that Cadence was with him.

“Off beat…? I suppose that is one way to describe it… You’re right, though, we should get into the town as soon as possible.”  Cadence adjusted her weight, making sure her pack wouldn’t affect her shoulder any more than it already was. She felt her body ease off and the beat disappear and so did her bouncing, leaving her standing there as she turned to Cyrus. “Ah, I forgot to mention. I plan to pay for both of our rooms at the inn.”  “Oh! I might be able to pay, but…” Cadence gave a sheepish grin, “Well, thanks. I’m sure sure if they take gold or diamonds for currency, or uh…” She pulled a rupee out of her pocket, “Or these.”

Cyrus raised an eyebrow when she pulled out the rupee.  “I…Don’y believe I’ve seen a gem like that in any of the books I’ve read…Would it be wrong of me to assume that’s the currency of this ‘Hyrule’ place you spoke of?” He had so many questions to ask her. But, he would save them for when they were well rested.

“As for diamonds and gold…I would imagine those would sell for a high value.”  He muttered quietly, then opened up the inn door once they got there. He talked to the inn keeper, and paid for the rooms.

“I…Don’t believe I’ve seen a gem like that in any of the books I’ve read…Would it be wrong of me to assume that’s the currency of this ‘Hyrule’ place you spoke of?” “Yeah, this is their currently. It LOOKS expensive but I guess it’s common where they live. Almost everything drops it,” Cadence explained. She wasn’t sure how she felt about breaking pots and stuff to get them. Weren’t those also valuable? “As for diamonds and gold…I would imagine those would sell for a high value.”   “Well, we can worry about that tomorrow,” Cadence nodded, following Cyrus in and getting the number for her room to relax for the night. At least, as much as she could without worrying about how she was going to get home. There was just too much to worry about.

I can’t say I’ve heard of Hyrule before, but it’s amazing you were able to help with something so serious!” “Yeah, my luck has it where I get myself involved in some pretty big messes,” Cadence laughed it off. It seemed here it was easy to do the same thing, so it made her wonder if this world needed extra help as well. “Crypts? No, nothing like that is around here. There are cave systems within Yogurt Yard, but I’m pretty sure there aren’t crypts in them.”  “Well that answers my question,” Cadence hummed to herself thoughtfully. Though the silence passed by, Luna managed to nail a good question. “This might sound a bit out there, but do you live on Shiv-I mean, do you live on Earth?” “Earth? Yeah… are you saying this is another planet entirely?” Cadence looked up at the sky, her mind reeling. Other times and other places, and now off planet? That was such a weird concept for her! How DOES one get to another planet, anyway?

With Cadence’s help, Luna was able to climb up to her shoulders with relative ease. Honestly, she felt like she must look pretty silly doing it, but she tried not to dwell on it. With both her bruised and uninjured wing tucked behind her, so as to not block Cadence’s view, she pointed her in the direction of her home.

Luna chuckled. “I’d say the same for myself, except they aren’t really the ‘grand adventure’ kind.” She’d seen so many new and bizarre things once she moved to Popstar that she doubted much could truly surprise her at this point.

It was no surprise to either of them, it seemed, that Cadence was nowhere near her home. Luna couldn’t help but wonder what her home must be like if crypts were an identifying feature. Maybe she lived near some old ruins? 

Ah, her intentions with that question were pretty see-through, weren’t they? Luna sighed, deciding to leave out that she was likely very far in the future as well unless the Earth she lived on was frozen over, too. “Y-yes, I know that must be a shock. This planet is called Popstar.”

“We don’t have very many humans here, so I guessed you were from off planet pretty early on.” ‘Not very many’ was a bit of a white lie. Luna had heard that exactly one human lived on Popstar and as far as most people knew, there weren’t any left. But she wasn’t going to tell her that. “Most people are about my size.”

“I’d say the same for myself, except they aren’t really the ‘grand adventure’ kind.” Cadence could argue that statement. Her adventure was pretty traumatizing for her. Considering she got her heart stolen, and then she had to fight her dad, and then what happened in Hyrule. She was ready for a long vacation with a lot of sleep. “Y-yes, I know that must be a shock. This planet is called Popstar.” “Popstar... does it have a lot of upbeat music?” Cadence couldn’t help but ask. Keeping humor felt like the best thing to do in this situation as she walked with Luna, and wrapped her head around all of this. “We don’t have very many humans here, so I guessed you were from off planet pretty early on... Most people are about my size.” “I’m guessing this place is just for small creatures. Fortunately there seemed to be a bit of a tandem with the birds as they pulled back and Cadence took a moment to breathe as she kept herself on the beat. Cyrus stepped in to throw in a spell as he launched it at the birds. Finally Cadence slipped in again, Cyrus leaving her an opening to strike down one of the birds.  “I’m getting the hang of this!” Cadence commented as she bounced back. They needed to nip this fight in the bud though, as Cadence spun the knife and waited for another opportunity to strike the other two birds. “I won’t have to worry about spell tomes, I guess. You take it easy, though, I got this,” Cadence had to joke in the middle of the fight.

Cyrus held onto his staff, and shook, the staff in more of a defensive position. The sooner they could finish this battle, the better. Though Cyrus thought that Cadence shouldn’t joke in the middle of a fight. The birds had quickly noticed that the schol was exhausted, though, and changed their focus to Cyrus. 

A bird’s arrow hit his staff, while another bird tried to fly into him. Though, the scholar hit the bird with his staff as hard as he could. It wouldn’t do much, but it was at least something. He didn’t want to take it easy. Though, he might have to, as he didn’t have enough energy to cast another spell.

The joke died out as the birds started to aim at Cyrus. She was much more energetic and wasn’t the one who had just recovered from injury. She leaped in front of him as the birds came in close, her dagger out as she struck one of them and killed it, but the other managed to reach in to strike down at her with its arrow attack.  “Gah!” She grunted, hoping that Cyrus would be ready for a counter attack. She clutched her shoulder where some blood welted up from the strike, applying pressure to try and curb the bleeding. “Alright, this is getting annoying,” She leapt out of the way, hoping that the magician would be able to finish the other off. This was taking too long and she could only dance for so long too…

Cyrus slammed his staff down of the bird, and the bird fell down onto the ground, dead. The scholar then looked at Cadence with concern.

“My apologies, miss Cadence. Were it not for the long day I had, the battle would have been over sooner.” He picked up the small amount of money that the birds had dropped after their defeat. “Ah, are you alright? There should be an inn in town…”

He sighed. Well, his luck could have always been worse. He walked a bit ahead. He would be able to pay for 2 separate rooms, of course.

“Whew...” Was all Cadence said as she wiped the sweat off of her brow. The birds were all gone. What were those creatures? She really had no idea, but either way they were gone now. Threat neutralized! She could feel the music within her die down. “My apologies, miss Cadence. Were it not for the long day I had, the battle would have been over sooner.”  “Nah, I seem to be off-beat today as well,” Cadence held her shoulder again from the pain. “Ah, are you alright? There should be an inn in town…” The thought of an inn relieved her and she nodded, not really thinking about prices yet. Would they accept diamonds? She still had some in her pack, but... ah well. “I’ll be fine once I rest. Same with you. Let’s get to town quick!”

Hmm, that wasn’t a lot to work with. Luna brought a nub to where a chin would be in thought. “It sounds like you’re from another world. That, uh, happens a lot more around here than you’d expect.” She added, trying to lighten the mood a little.

“What’s your home called? We’re in Green Greens right now, does that ring any bells?” She might as well start small. Springing on Cadence the idea that she was not just in another world, but also a planet she’d never heard of was best approached carefully.

“Ah, you don’t have to! I’m perfectly fine with walking back. It’s not all that far.” “Ah, but I insist,” Cadence urged. Well... even if there was a decline, Cadence would be happy to walk with her, but for now they had a few problems to take care of. For one, Cadence needed to know where she was...  “It sounds like you’re from another world. That, uh, happens a lot more around here than you’d expect.” “That makes more sense... recently I’ve been in the habit of being dropped off in completely different worlds,” She sighed, “I wonder why I would be dropped off here, though...? Last time I was assisting Hyrule in defeating a great evil.” That didn’t pose well for whatever was going on here.

“What’s your home called? We’re in Green Greens right now, does that ring any bells?” Cadence was almost tempted to say she had rung a few bells that also was her dad, but she decided against it. “Well it’s definitely not Green Greens. I’ve never seen it on a map. ... There aren’t any crypts nearby are there?” Silly question, but it would answer the obvious.
