Preparing for my Cambridge exam has been hard work and doing that while participating in another internship/summer course has left me completely exhausted. But it's almost over!! Tomorrow's the big day! 🌟

desk explosion anyone? I’ve started on my results- properly analysing them, not just preliminary sorting- and i do work like that so much better on paper… i’m justifying the paper use by telling myself it’s my thesis (plus i’ll probably print my various drafts on the back of it so…)

today (i readjusted my plans for this week slightly) analyse queries 1 - 4 (almost finished 1 yesterday, thankfully) keep calm edits if i can’t concentrate groceries

First day after the long weekend, and I am struggling to get started. I desperately want to hand in another chapter, and I have the conclusion to write and edit everything that I have written so far … Please keep your fingers crossed for me, I’ll be doing my very best.

454 | I’ve been such a good student so far this term and I’m honestly just waiting for that to come crumbling down. Stacking all of my classes on two days cut down on my on-campus procrastinating time (I truly spend so much time just shooting the shit with friends in the commons), which has meant a ton more free time. So even if I procrastinate homework for two days, I still have two days to finish it. Maybe I will keep up my good study habits? Ugh, I hope so.

i’ve spent the last few days slowly reading and planning in my spare time. yesterday i started this book, ‘challenging fictions’, in which vicki mahaffey discusses the importance of reading difficult or obscure modernist texts. describing the limitations of traditional narrative structure, mahaffey articulates that modernist literature, on the other hand, ‘is designed not to be “read,” as we usually understand the term, but to be performed, in the etymological sense of “perform” as “to finish making”’. all of these ideas around the use of chaos and the idea of “bustling” and “busy” texts fits well with what i’m currently researching, and it’s given me some new inspiration.

[190521] woot! i managed to upload again! i’ve been researching like crazy for my huge final project, which is paying off because my group will get to the meat of the assignment, filming a PSA, this weekend! i have the first assignment, a presentation in french, tomorrow so, eek, let’s hope i can be competent for eight minutes. i have a few exams to take over the next few weeks as well, so it’s as crazy as ever, but at least the end is near! (about two more weeks, but who’s counting?). aslo, fun but sad fact, my wrist is currently in a brace because studying too much gave me carpal tunnel, and all my friends are teasing me endlessly lol

currently listening to: happy ending by seventeen

⭐ a script for starting a presentation ⭐

“First, I’d like to thank [university / conference / host] for having me, and thank you all for attending my talk. Today I’m presenting work I performed on [general topic] with my collaborators at [university/universities]. To begin, let’s talk about [slide 1 topic].”

I love classic rainy England. Haven’t been focusing much on writing the last few days but I have collected 2 of 3 interviews for my dissertation research. I also had a second interview with a job back home and have been focused on that. I only have about 6 weeks left here, which is nearly unfathomable.

In addition to all this work I’ve also binge watched all 3 seasons of Wynonna Earp and just finished catching up on Killing Eve season 2. The earth is melting but at least it’s the golden age of television.

hello.. random life update but i was lucky enough to score a web design coop this summer! it was totally unexpected - i’d been looking around at online job boards in the middle of finals season in the hopes of finding something i’d be qualified for after my first year, and eventually i happened to come across a posting that favoured my skillset. i decided to shoot my shot and miraculously i got it. prior to all of this, i’d been debating switching my major entirely because (long story short) i couldn’t stand my design classes this year. however, being granted this opportunity has restored my love for something i’d nearly forgotten i’ve enjoyed for so long.
