“I didn’t have any choice. You love your children. When everyone else was seeing the last moments of his [Dylan Klebold] life as vicious and evil and sadistic, I was thinking, that’s my poor kid, he was in this horrible situation, he dishonoured himself. I don’t know any other way to respond to him than with love.”

It doesn’t change anything. Klebold smiles bleakly. “Love is not enough.”

- Sue Klebold

My heart genuinely breaks for this poor woman.

Those who knew Phoenix Coldon, 23, described her as compassionate and strong-willed. When she was 12-years-old, she competed - and won awards at - a national fencing competition in Iowa. When her competitors found out her age, they couldn’t quite believe how talented she was. Phoenix and her family lived in the suburbs of North Saint Louis County in Spanish Lake and Phoenix attended the University of Missouri. She was well read, deeply religious and longed to fit in wherever she went, according to her parents.

At around 3pm on the 18th of December, 2011, Phoenix got into her vehicle and drove away from her home. She was scheduled to come back in a few hours but when she didn’t return, her concreted parents reported her missing. However, an officer told them that Phoenix was an adult and didn’t need to alert her parents if she was going somewhere for an extended period. Her parents then contacted local media in the hopes they they would run the story and get the word out that their daughter was missing. Initially, they were advised that news stations had to adhere to local law enforcement policies and procedures and refused to run the story unless the police requested their help. Eventually, Fox 2 News ran the story.

Two weeks later, Phoenix’s abandoned car was discovered at the corner of 9th and Saint Clair in East Saint Louis. The door was open and her car keys were still in the ignition with the engine running. Since Phoenix vanished, her parents have discovered that she had been staying in her apartment with a boyfriend until she moved back home the year before her disappearance. The boyfriend still lives in the area but hasn’t been in contact with Phoenix’s family. However, St. Louis County Detective Robert Vogel said that he isn’t a suspect. Her parents have wondered whether the boyfriend got her involved with unsavoury people.

To this day, Phoenix Coldon still remains missing. Her family have been disappointed by what they believe to be a lack of effort by police and local media. They have paid a private investigator thousands of dollars to follow leads. Their home has fallen into foreclosure as they have used their mortgage money to fund their own search efforts. “The media wouldn’t give us the time of day, but if Phoenix looked like Natalee Holloway, we wouldn’t have had this problem,” said her mother.

If you have any information about the disappearance of Phoenix Coldon, please call 314-615-6606.

A photograph allegedly leaked from Erie, PA police department appears to show a disproportionately large handprint on a missing students dorm room window.

19 year old Elizabeth Hetzler disappeared from her dorm in Edinboro University of Pennsylvania on the night of February 12th, 2007. Her room was located on the third floor of the building, the door was locked, and there was no ledge outside her window. Her roommate awoke in the morning, having heard nothing unusual overnight and simply assumed that Elizabeth had left to go to class early. The roommate later told investigators that when she noticed the handprint, she screamed and knew immediately that “everything Elizabeth had been talking about was true. It was real.”

The previous evening, Elizabeth had remarked to her friends that she’d had a strange experience walking back to her dorm from a late night dance rehearsal. As she made her way across campus, she gradually got the uneasy feeling that someone was watching and following her. “She seemed so relieved to be back in her room again,” her roommate said.

No trace if Elizabeth has yet been found, and investigators have called it the most baffling missing person case of their careers. Since the above image has been circulating the internet for nearly two years, it is difficult to say for certain if it is genuine, although it matches what students and investigators have described (note its size in relation to the coffee pot in the foreground). Remarked Detective Stephen Broze, “You’d think our suspect would be pretty easy to spot. He must stick out in a crowd with eleven-inch fingers.”

Cecil Hotel (LA)

(Currently called Stay on Main, formerly known as Hotel Cecil and Cecil Hotel)

To say this hotel has had a checkered history would be an understatement. This hotel has been home to so much evil that if any hotel in the US is haunted, its gotta be this one.

Here are a few things that have happened in this hotel:

Home to serial killer Jack Unterweger

In 1962, Pauline Otton, 27, threw herself to her death from a ninth-floor window after arguing with her husband. She landed on pedestrian George Gianinni, 65, on the street below, killing him instantly. She was just one of numerous guests who ended their lives while staying at the run-down hotel.

This place has a gruesome history and people who visit the place have reported hauntings throughout its history.

On 18 April, 1943, four boys (Robert Hart, Thomas Willetts, Bob Farmer and Fred Payne) from Stourbridge were poaching in Hagley Woods near to Wychbury Hill when they came across a large Wych Hazel, a tree often confused by local residents with a Wych Elm.Believing this a good place to hunt birds’ nests, Farmer attempted to climb the tree to investigate. As he was climbing, he glanced down into the hollow trunk and discovered a skull, believing it to be that of an animal. However, after seeing human hair and teeth, he realized that he was holding a human skull. As they were on the land illegally, Farmer put the skull back and all four boys returned home without mentioning their discovery to anybody.

On returning home the youngest of the boys, Tommy Willetts, felt uneasy about what he had witnessed and decided to report the find to his parents. When police checked the trunk of the tree they found an almost complete human skeleton, a shoe, a gold wedding ring, and some fragments of clothing. After further investigation, a severed hand was found buried in the ground near to the tree.

The body was sent for forensic examination by Prof. James Webster. He quickly established that the skeleton was female and had been dead for at least 18 months, placing her time of death around October 1941. He found taffeta in her mouth, suggesting that she had died from asphyxiation. From the measurement of the trunk he also deduced that she must have been placed there “still warm” after the killing as she could not have fit once rigor mortis had taken hold. Since the woman’s killing was in the midst of World War II, identification was seriously hampered. Police could tell from items found with the body what the woman had looked like but with so many people being reported missing during the war, and people regularly moving, the records were too vast for a proper identification to take place. The current location of her skeleton is unknown. In 1944 the first graffiti message related to the mystery appeared on a wall in Upper Dean Street, Birmingham, reading Who put Bella down the Wych Elm - Hagley Wood

The Summerwind mansion, located in Wisconsin, is supposedly one of the most haunted places in the state. Rumor had it that it was haunted before anyone even lived in it. Numerous strange occurrences have been reported there, including a hidden crawl space that contained a human skull. Throughout numerous abandonments and attempts at renovations, the mansion was finally struck by lightning in the 1980s and burned down. The remains of the mansion are often sought out by those curious about the paranormal and the legends surrounding the house.

Pangboche Hand

Also known as the Yeti hand, it was kept as an artifact in a Buddhist monastery in Pangboche, Nepal. It was first photographed in 1957 during an “Abominable Snowman” trek. The monks firmly believed the hand belonged to a Yeti and considered it to be sacred and so they refused to have it tested.

It was finally examined by William Charles Osman Hill(1960), who claimed it was hominid and possibly Neanderthal. In 1991 it was featured on the NBC show “Unsolved Mysteries” in which they verified that the DNA was “near human” but not human.

After the show, the hand was stolen and never seen again.

Placenta Teddy Bear

On exhibition at the “Doing it for the Kids” showcase, this teddy bear was made using human placenta. A crafty alternative for those who don’t want to eat the placenta, but instead want to make a toy out of it and scar their kids for life.
