06/08/2020 - Ahhh here it is!  A long awaited updated.  I’m always so busy, but with summer starting and some much needed vacation days on the horizon, I’m updating everything.  If Only & TTS will be coming along shortly. :)

Chapter 7

It didn’t take long for Riley to jump into action when Liam agreed to her offer to see the Statue of Liberty.  She started to text furiously on her phone, and when she wasn’t getting a response quick enough, she resorted to actually calling up the friends she knew would still be up at that hour.  After all, she lived in the city that never slept, and a good chunk of her friends were in line with that mentality.  At first it seemed like she wouldn’t have any luck making her plan happen, but eventually one of her friends pulled through.  Matt Dennison had owed her a favor from ages ago.  She had never expected to actually stake a claim on said favor, but here she was at some god awful hour staring at the boy that had stolen (and ultimately broken) her heart eight years ago, and all she wanted to do was make his dream come true.  So, desperate times called for desperate measures and she had absolutely no qualms about waking Matt up from his beauty sleep.

Papa Bear and Maxwell sat on the floor of the Beaumont estate playing and reading with Bartie and Lucie while Bertrand and Brielle sat on the sofa. Brielle had her long legs tucked under her as she leaned her head against Bertrands chest. He was smiling as he watched Lucie slap at the book in front of her while Papa Bear explained the pictures, giving her the names of each animal in French and English.

Just then the doorbell rang and Maxwell jumped up, "I'll get it." He wandered back a moment later with Alexandria, Liam, Drake and Pam. Drake knelt down to Bartie, "Hey little man!" He gave him a high five and then a tickle. "You ready to carry that ring down the aisle next week?" Bartie grinned nodding. "Daddy got my suit!" He beamed. "Awesome! Your gonna be the best ring bearer ever!" Drake stood, smiling at his fiance. 

"He better be cute" Alexandria added. "He needs to take the focus off of me." She huffed. "Oh stop, you'll be beautiful." Pam assured. "Besides, the designer said she can take your bridesmaid's dress out...again" Alexandria narrowed her eyes as they all laughed.

"Your eight months pregnant love, you're beautiful and glowing" Liam kissed her hand lovingly as he guided her over to a chair.

"So have you heard if Savannah is coming to the wedding?" Drake shook his head. "She's not coming." He shrugged, as Pam rubbed his back. "Neither will my mom. They both said it would be better not to see the little guy and make things confusing since Savannah signed over custody." 

Maxwell frowned. "I'm sorry Drake." Drake waved him off. "It was her choice to leave, Max. She didn't want to be an adult and fend for herself, so she went running back to Texas. Her and my mom deserve each other, far as I'm concerned." 

"How is the new job, Maxwell?" Liam questioned, changing the subject. Maxwell smiled brightly. "It's awesome!" He bounced excitedly. "It's only part time, but the club is right down the street from our apartment. They said I'm the best Deejay they've had. And Drake and Pam watch Bartie when I work since they're close by, so it works out perfect." 

Drake grinned, "We love having the little dude. Bartie needs Uncle Drake time." He ruffled his hair as Bartie swatted him away.

"So you like living on your own?" Alexandria questioned. Maxwell nodded. "It's what I needed. Bertrand and Brielle offered to let me stay, but it just didn't feel right." He shrugged, sharing a knowing look with Papa Dumont. "I'm just grateful I had the support and help to get out on my own." Papa winked, before going back to reading with Lucie.

Just then there was a knock at the door. "Oh, that's my other bridesmaid." Pam jumped up rushing toward the door. "You haven't met her yet, Maxwell. She's a commoner, like me. But you'll be walking down the aisle with her."

Maxwell nodded absentmindedly, as Pam opened the door, excitedly greeting a petite brunette. She walked into the room, grinning. "Maxwell, this is my friend, Erin." Maxwell's eyes widened, his heart fluttering in his chest as he reached his hand out to greet her. 

"Hi Erin...I'm Max."
