most sources make transplanting sound incredibly difficult, but transplanting young seedlings from areas with sparse dirt, like a driveway or roadside, is actually incredibly easy and can get you some great stuff. Once I worked out the method, i've had a very high survival rate

We seem to have forgotten the old sustainability slogan I was taught as a kid in the 90s, which is ‘reduce, reuse, recycle’. And that’s the preferential order. We should be reducing first, then reusing what we can, and recycling should be a distant third option.

But capitalism can only make money from the ‘recycling’ part.

Companies like coke used to do exactly that, collect used glass bottles and wash them to be reused. Then it became cheaper to use virgin plastic, so they switched to that. This obviously generated a monumental amount of waste, which the public rightfully blamed on the company producing it, so coke and many other companies came together to form Keep America Beautiful to shift that blame onto consumers themselves and promote the racket that is plastic recycling (which has never worked and never will)

Just another example of how the idea of taking personal responsibility for climate change and the environment has always been a scam perpetrated by the systems that are knowingly creating the problem themselves
