So I just saw A Star is Born

And honestly right now, I canā€™t even explain what Iā€™m feeling. The tragic foreshadowing in the movie messed me up to a point you canā€™t even begin to believe. I knew it was going to be a great movie, but I didnā€™t realize how deep it went. It showed a struggle with addiction and depression and proved that no matter how good you have it, depression still finds a way to tear you apart. It showed the struggles of fame and the pressure for artists to change who they are so people will like them better. It showed insecurity. It showed anger, anger so deeply rooted in the past. It showed a broken childhood that created a broken man. It showed a broken woman, given up. It showed how desperately they tried to mend each other. It showed love, and not the sappy romance where everything is fine and good. It showed dirty love, angry love, fighting and screaming at each other but still so very much in love. It showed real, true love. Iā€™m still in awe right now of this movie and Iā€™m still trying to process these emotions. The soundtrack was incredible, and it being performed live gave this movie more meaning. It gave Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper a chance to show emotion in the song, to sing what they were feeling as they were feeling it. Iā€™m telling you, this movie is going down in history. I have never seen a film so deep, so inspiring, so beautiful, and so tragic before. Lady Gaga fan or not, this movie is an absolute must-see

Serena Williams standing up for herself while referee accuses her of cheating. She had been docked points for coaching that didnā€™t happen.

This is soā€¦.so much deeper than whatā€™s on the surface.

This umpire basically accused her of cheating! And penalized her for his accusations. This is touchy for Serena being that they have been conspiring against her for the longest with the whole drug testing. Sheā€™s had it with them opposing her with no merit or basis! SHE HAS NEVER CHEATED which has been proven time after time with those negative results. and to accuse her of that during this game is why she is extremely and rightfully emotional! The pain and humiliation in her voice says it all. It really hurt her for him to accuse her of that so publicly too. He announced it during the match on the mic to everyone and now thatā€™s like a stain on this moment forever. Thatā€™s why sheā€™s demanding he apologize to her and say it over the loudspeaker. To set the record straight that she didnā€™t do what he alleged.

Honestly she has faced the most her entire career and her mental fortitude to endure it and still be dominant is a miracle. ALWAYS A QUEEN

(this match was painful & angering to watch)

Whatā€™s even more annoying is that later on in the game, she got even more frustrated (both due to this and the fact that her and her opponent were playing INCREDIBLY GOOD GAMES!) and smashed her racket, and was docked points. When she called the umpire a thief, he decided to make a power play and cost her a whole game.

Not only did he try to steal this moment from Serena, he also cast a shadow over what shouldā€™ve been an AMAZING victory for 20 year old Naomi Osaka, a Haitian-Japanese player whoā€™s the first Japanese Player to win a Grand Slam tournament.

This umpire literally cast a huge stain over this moment for both of these women, all because a black woman spoke to him in a tone he didnā€™t like. Never in tennis has there been such a severe penalization for something like being called a ā€œthiefā€ when thereā€™s a well-documented history of male tennis players saying much worse.
