Because once you read TBOSAS, you realize it’s literally EVERYTHING. Katniss’s name. Her mockingjay pin. Her singing. Where she’s from. Her falling for a blond boy. Her entire existence is torture for him. We don’t know if Lucy Gray lived or died, but she sure as hell lived on in Snow’s memory. She haunted him until the day he died.
