There are those who favor a silent blade; other, silver tongues, the embrace of night, or the sweetest kiss of poison. For each occasion, a suitable tool, and the black linkpearls are no different—a weapon to be wielded by those who belong to the shadows of the Eorzean underworld.

   ⸻     ABOUT US

      EBONGUARD is is a clandestine criminal network founded in Eorzea, centered around a collection of mysterious black linkpearls. Its members can be anyone and they can be anywhere, as it is not an organization in the strictest sense of the word.

       OOC, we are a lore-compliant crime-themed Discord/CWLS-based RP community. We are not an FC! Our focus is on character- and intrigue-driven RP, with an emphasis on the collaborative writing aspect of RP rather than tabletop-style campaigns. We operate in NA timezones and have an age requirement of 18+ due to the mature themes inherent in crime RP.

  ⸻     WHAT WE OFFER

     ⌞ FREEDOM & FLEXIBILITY: The only requirement to participate in Ebonguard’s RP is being lore-compliant and being chill; while there is an application for membership, this only influences whether your character has a black linkpearl and whether you are eligible to staff our public RP venue, the Cloak & Dagger. There are no activity requirements, you aren’t locked out of participation if you aren’t a member, and you don’t have to leave you current communities in order to participate.

      ⌞ STORY-BUILDING OPPORTUNITIES: The black linkpearls exist as a plot device to be used in others’ stories, and as such Ebonguard seeks to facilitate development both on the individual and group level through organic story-building opportunities through roleplay, discussion, solo writing, and more! Additionally, all plot arcs we run as a community are structured with player contributions in mind; no single DM dictates the course of the story, and character actions matter.

HOLIDAYS AT THE CLOAK & DAGGER

Due to when major (US) holidays fall this year, our schedule for November and December has seen some adjustments in order to accommodate the holiday season!

  • November 25 and December 23, the fourth Fridays of November and December respectively, we will be CLOSED.
  • December 2 and December 9, the first and second Fridays of December, we will be OPEN at our usual time!

Additionally, with the end of the year right around the corner, our yearly Heavensturn Celebration will be on December 30. 

For this special event, we will have a special (limited) menu to ring out the old year, and we are looking for IC bards and performers to utilize our stage and help make our last opening of the year a night to remember!

We will return to our regular schedule of second and fourth Fridays in January!

CASTING CALL : MODUS OPERANDI

THE LAW SAYS THERE ARE THREE ELEMENTS TO A CRIME⸻
Mens rea, or the “guilty mind,” which refers to the culprit’s intent of committing a crime;
Actus reus, or the criminal act itself, or the physical elements that constitute the crime; 
and causation between act and effect.

MODUS OPERANDI is a major collaborative plot arc centering around a heist being planned by the self-proclaimed leader of the Ebonguard and proprietor of the Cloak & Dagger, Crow.

The main body of the story will center around the heist and will be divided into two parts: “mens rea,” the planning phase, and “actus reus” which covers the heist itself. Along the way, side stories centering around different characters and concepts will open up for relevant characters to participate in.

We are seeking collaborators for the main body of the plot, which covers the heist itself. Ideal candidates are lore-compliant RP groups with a vested interest in a long-term campaign with multiple player character factions in play, who are situated in such a way that they would stand in opposition to the Ebonguard. Ideally, this would not be a one-sided arrangement, so if you are interested please be prepared to brainstorm and consider what you would want out of a plot like this!

Welcome to the Cloak & Dagger: a speakeasy situated on the edge of the Goblet’s crown jewel: the Brimming Heart. As the summer heat rises to its yearly crescendo, the proprietor has begun making arrangements to host a grand party from sundown until midnight—a celebration of the season, held underneath the stars that shine over the city.
The Moonfire Faire, for its rather explosive history, is synonymous with summer in Eorzea, coinciding with the hottest days of the season.
During, countless citizens of the realm come together in an effort to beat the heat at Eorzea’s various beaches and pools—one of which is none other than the crown jewel of the Goblet, the Brimming Heart. This year, the proprietor of a certain speakeasy has taken it upon himself to organize a large celebration during the faire as a showing of good-will to the city that nurtured his fleeting fancy into the successful business it is today.

The Cloak & Dagger is planning to throw a special event for the Moonfire Faire this year, making use of the Brimming Heart located just outside of the speakeasy.

We would love for this to be a collaborative venture drawing upon various aspects of the RP community, and as such we would love to work with other players, venues, and groups for catering and event management as well as hosting performances!
