This is my fan translation of Kairi Seidouitusei Shougai no Chiguhagu na Hibi by Tokin! I love this manga so much. It’s a wonderful autobiography about DID and a representation with a tone we don’t usually get in English. Tokin-sensei gave me permission to translate the prologue and share it with an English audience because I know so many people would want to read it! I am not going to translate the entire text, but I do really really want to encourage people to submit it in this month’s Seven Seas interest survey!! Please help support Tokin-sensei’s wonderful work!

It’s an insane series. It started with a joke comic ‘what if scooby doo had a gun’ and developed into a sprawling sci-fi action series with epic fights. The last one I read (current that I know of right now) is a fight between Dexter from Dexter’s lab, fighting Foghorn Leghorn from looney toons.

I’ve read most of this comic and it’s really creative and neat! Super well-drawn too.

there’s a guy on instagram who has a really cute dog that, unfortunately, won’t stop eating human shit when they walk trails.

he’s taken him to the vet. he’s tried training. he’s done it all. nothing works: the dog just loves to eat shit.

the only solution has been to muzzle the dog, but then the owner realized it made people wary of aggression, so he made him an explanatory vest

unfortunately, if sense were leather, a lot of people wouldn’t be able to saddle a bug, so folks are accusing him of being abusive or medically negligent or fucking something

it is with a heavy heart that i must inform you that people do, indeed, just shit next to trails or dump their portables there. it sucks.

the kicker is he was being asked if his work was coming from the approach of man vs. nature aka “THE ENVIRONMENT STRIKES BACK” but no. his literal words were along the lines of “sharks are not very scary if you are never in the water so i had to make them scarier, and now they have legs.”

Junji Ito has the best fucking take on horror, which is ‘wouldn’t that be weird’ and then he draws it into the most terrifying thing possible.

One of his strangest stories is about a cursed type of honey that, when ingested, is guaranteed to be the best thing you’ve ever tasted. But, if you consume it, you have a 25% of being flattened like a pancake by a giant tree demon. Characters eat it, get addicted, and that addiction forces them to risk it over and over again until they eventually get turned into a gory puddle by this ghost tree thing. 

It’s a weird story, but the funny part is that Ito wrote it because he thought it would suck to be a mosquito.

So Dr. Nefarious Tropy, usually shortened to N. Tropy as a pun on the word entropy, is a villain from the Crash Bandicoot franchise, first introduced in Crash Bandicoot 3. His defining characteristic is having invented time travel technology. His title is "the master of time." He's blue for some reason.

In Crash Bandicoot 4 (the 21st game in the franchise), he teams up with a female version of himself from another dimension. The two N. Tropies are very clearly into eachother and it's a bit uncomfortable.
