It’s ok to be disabled and happy. Being disabled does not mean you have to constantly suffer.
A lot of folks keep adding to this post that you’re ‘allowed to miserable too!’ and yes, of course you’re allowed to feel whatever you feel about your life as a disabled person.
Please let me make a post specially about disabled joy, ok? It’s important.
Sharing this version again. Because, yet again, people think they’re very cute and funny to say ‘oh just in disabled people are allowed to feel emotions’ like this isn’t about a specific systematic problem that many disabled people, like myself, face and it’s not actually funny or cute to be a flippant little shit about it because you happen to be one of the lucky few who haven’t experienced it.

I don’t ship Val & Andy because I honestly get more of a quasi-parental vibe from them (fyi, DJenks: THAT’S what it looks like when you write Con in a mentoring role ugh)
but I have to admit the comedic potential is unparalleled.

I just want Izzy to feel safe with someone. I want him to be held, to be loved, to be appreciated. I want someone to tell him he makes them happy. I want him to be chosen, just him, specifically him, just like he is, again and again and again. I want him to have what he’s given so freely for years. I want someone to see him, see all the places where he’s torn off pieces of himself for someone else’s sake and fill them up with little pieces of their own.
