Oh my do I try

@dizzyalyx / dizzyalyx.tumblr.com

Hello I'm Alyx I reblog mostly pretty or funny fantasy art and stuff like that. Anything that I enjoy! I've been drawing for about 9 years and I've made quite a lot of progress so far, and hopefully I'll make much more as time goes on! I like to be pretty chill and laid back so say hi if you like, I don't bite. (◕‿◕✿)

I did work some more on his backstory and changed some things. Instead of playing the game the entire day I took like 6 hours on this.. It has been a while since I drew, but I did really enjoy working on my OC! This is what I imagine he looks like. Gay Warlock Twink, kinda goth. <_<

Anyway I'm gonna make dinner first and then play the game again.

Backstory revisions happened because of the retcon they made with the dream visitor- Erik is still his dead bardfriend whose face was used, but I needed to add more fiber to Locke's backstory with another new character (I'll design the Undertaker and Erik at some point.)

Reminder: His name is pronounced as Lo-ki! not ''lock'' :D

The light armor is inspired by ingame items, but I like to take creative control because It's easier for me to draw my own stuff that way. The character creator is awesome but limited. Same goes for his hair, I couldn't really achieve that in the game. I imagine this outfit is what he settles in somewhere in the middle of act 2 after the party gets more experienced.

I'll be drawing more Baldur's gate stuff later :D Can't wait to draw my little interpretations of the playthrough.

Just some notes in case: I don't really use Wyll at all in my gameplay, I just can't seem to get the feeling for him, he keeps dying during my encounters while other characters manage fine.. Out of everyone he and Lae'zel are the least interesting. I ended up having to kill Lae'zel in my playthrough too. So if there's a lack of either in my future gameplay related drawings, that's why. Lae'zel was along for the story for a brief bit for me. I couldn't really get attached to those two. Gale, Astarion, Shadowheart, and Karlach are awesome! And because I'm a dumbass Halsin and Janeira ended up dying so I couldn't recruit them. (It's also overwhelming choosing who to bring, so less party members is better for me.)

Anyway feel free to drop asks about him in my ask box! I might draw answers. <3

There’s a protest going on against AI art over on artstation, so I feel like now is the time for me to make a statement on this issue!

I wholeheartedly support the ongoing protest against AI art. Why? Because my artwork is included in the datasets used to train these image generators without my consent. I get zero compensation for the use of my art, even though these image generators cost money to use, and are a commercial product.

Musicians are not being treated the same way. Stability has a music generator that only uses royalty free music in their dataset. Their words: “Because diffusion models are prone to memorization and overfitting, releasing a model trained on copyrighted data could potentially result in legal issues.” Why is the work of visual artists being treated differently?

Many have compared image generators to human artists seeking out inspiration. Those two are not the same. My art is literally being fed into these generators through the datasets, and spat back out of a program that has no inherent sense of what is respectful to artists. As long as my art is literally integrated into the system used to create the images, it is commercial use of my art without my consent.

Until there is an ethically sourced database that compensates artists for the use of their images, I am against AI art. I also think platforms should do everything they can to prevent scraping of their content for these databases.

Artists, speak out against this predatory practice! Our art should not be exploited without our consent, and we deserve to be compensated when our art is exploited for commercial use.
