I do not have energy to do a week-long ‘ask Lyra’ event in honor of her birthday this time around, BUT—

It’ll start from noon of the 29th of January: I am going to reblogging art others have drawn of her AND written work I have done where Lyra is the main subject matter.

People are still free to send hellos and birthday wishes through the ask box, but bear in mind I may not get responses done in time due to a number of things going on for me IRL.

Coffee with the Countess but modern au bc I really didn’t know where to go with the sketch I was organising my files and I found a sketch I left since mid December. I truly believe that I couldn’t have executed it how I wanted it over a month ago, so I’m kinda happy with how this turned out.

Day XVII: Studying (Chandra)

“Lyra?” Nadia steps out from behind her divider, tying the sash of her robe off into a pretty knot. “Lyra, are you here?”

No answer … that’s odd.

Nadia’s eyebrows furrow. She goes toward the bed they shared. Seeing that it was empty, she turns around, surveying the bedroom.

“My love, are you in here?”

Silence.

Immediately, Nadia gets dressed. She calls for Portia, telling her hurriedly to “Grab a few other palace staff to come and help me find her!”

Before leaving her quarters, the Prakran princess opened the door of her Contemplation Tower, asking for Chandra to join the search as well. The pearlescent owl screeches in the affirmative, taking off toward an open window at the top of the spire.

Once Nadia leaves her room, Portia rushes to keep pace with her. “We’ll find her, milady!” she reassures, handing the Countess a lamp.

When everyone is gathered, Nadia lists the places where Lyra could be: The Palace Library, the gardens, etc. Last ditch attempt would be either be her shop in Center City, or her uncle’s home in the Temple District. Directions given, the group breaks off into small search parties, calling for the future Consort to the Countess.

As Nadia calls out Lyra’s name into the night, her mind goes back to what happened earlier on in the evening.

The dinner with the Ambassador of Venterre was a disaster. Lyra had accidentally insulted the woman, which Nadia had to quickly tamp down lest Venterre withdraw their trade agreements with Vesuvia.

Day I: Asra—Dreams [That We Speak Of]

After about a year of getting to know one other, these two opened up to each other. One topic often spoken about was about their dreams.

“I dream I’m falling, a lot,” she said once.

“A lot of the time I’m floating!” he replied, laughing softly as she shook her head.

Other times, they spoke of what they wanted in life.

“A librarian?”

“Mhm!” she nodded.

“That means you’d go bright and early to even get there on time,” Asra pointed out.

“I go bright and early to the Heart District to get to classes as is,” she reminded.

That dream would go down the drain within a few months. Asra wanted to hex the bullies that caused her to leave, but Lyra barely convinced him not to.

After that, Lyra dug in her heels and decided to help out at her uncle Bảo’s and aunt Walterine’s respective shops more often. That eventually led to Lyra asking Asra to move into her aunt’s shop with her, so that Walt, James, and Neha could move in with her uncle proper.

Once Asra’s properly moved in, this allowed him to work with Lyra more and more. To be with her more and more …

To say the least, that was the beginning of one of his many dreams coming true with her.
