Hi tumblr!  Long time no see... This year has been a rollercoaster in all aspects of my life, which is why I left for a long while.  I’m back, though, and I’ll be posting stuff I drew over the next few days. Thanks for sticking up around here, you’re all so very lovely <3

Here’s the first part of the brush set I mentioned earlier! (gumroad link, pay what you want or don’t pay anything, it was just the easiest website to put them on) There’s a tutorial that goes with the files, which are so far, the patterns and some of the textures I used on my backgrounds. I will update the gumroad file (so everyone who downloaded it can benefit from the update) once I’ve cleaned up my textured brushes that are not “stamp-like” and will give you that gouache-like texture.  Get the brushes or Watch the super quick tutorial on vimeo to know what you’ll be downloading (please don’t mind my accent or anything weird on the audio u_u)

Another set of backgrounds + some color concepts.

Color-wise, that film was the most challenging project I’ve had to work on so far : we had to have two very different universes that would work on their own, and not clash too much when on the same frame.  Plus, if Mary’s colors were too red, it just looked like a garden in autumn...

Hi everyone! I know it’s been a while, I went to Annecy for a week & our short film was finally shown. Our job was to create an opening short that would pay hommage to one of the female pioneers of animation : Mary Blair.

They were shown just before each screening at  Annecy Festival, with a different short every day. No pressure there :3

Thank you to all my amazing colleagues who did  a fantastic job on this :

mmmichiru (Michiru Baudet)

carrececile (Cécile Carre)

pimpmypegbar (Léni Marotte)

vivianevguimaraes (Viviane Guimarães) I worked mainly on backgrounds (design, color script, final painting as well as layouts) and compositing. Hope you like it! I’ll be posting a bunch of stuff related to this project for a while, bear with me :)

It seems that you guys like those backgrounds, so here’s the last one! Some parts don’t look finished, but they’re not in the final camera movement, so I didn’t bother (We only had 3 weeks and a half to make the film so it was a pretty rushed affair...) Layout by margoroquelaure

Another series of backgrounds from the short movie (see previous post). 1 : Layout by Nicolas Capitaine 2 : Animation by margoroquelaure, Compositing lucasdurkheim. This one is a real still from the movie! 3 : Layout by pimpmypegbar (Léni Marotte) Even though it was hard work, I loved working on those. I showed them (as part of a lecture on animation) to my dad’s students, who are electrician students, they laughed pretty hard at the last one, since, obviously, it’s a very... artistic rendition of the actual thing :)
