Gentle reminder for everyone in fandom…
A lot of artists do not commission their work. They use their talent, time, and energy to create beautiful pieces. And a lot of artists do not get the recognition they deserve.
With that being said, please stop being rude to artists. It is…concerning, for lack of a better word, for grown adults in this fandom to get pissed, offended, heated, whatever, because of an artist’s representation of a character, or a book scene, or to create a piece that hasn’t happened in canon.
Cassian and Mor with flower crowns planting daisies in a garden? Adorable.
Elain with a sword? Incredible.
Rhysand, Amren, and Nesta baking a cake? Amazing.
Feyre as a witch? Perfect.
Azriel as High King? Lovely.
It is not that deep. If you cannot find it in your heart to be kind to artists, then simply do not interact with their posts. Your unkind commentary is not wanted on artwork. It has no place being there in the first place. Free speech and all, yes, but some things just do not need to be said. And it’s best if people learn that now.
If you do not have anything kind to say to these creators, I beg you to just scroll by. Scream in your bedroom. Throw your pillow. Write angry words in your journal or something. Please stop spreading negativity on a creator’s work because you do not like it or agree with it. Too many artists have already left due to consistent harassment, and to see my friends who create lovely art be so incredibly discouraged is so disappointing. And as someone who would like to begin creating art…I am now incredibly hesitant to do so.
Please do better. Please learn internet etiquette. Please practice kindness. Please learn when to not speak. Please learn how to just use a block button.
Please stop harassing artists.
