honestly I expect all my theories to be wrong. i was so wrong after ch1 lol. the only thing I've ever called was Kris getting hit by a toy car

honestly ive kind of just like decided the question of 'the knight' is the wrong one. kris is now officially in canon taking the role of a knight as soon as ch3; it's likely at least one of the other lightners who know the trick will do similar (like noelle may well take a turn in the hospital for example), and if the knowledge is out there generally more than one person could have it. i think kris opened bare minimum 2 fountains, but even if those are the only ones they open that makes them the knight. the knight is a role worn by whoever cuts the darkness from the earth.

everyone has a reason. every lightner has the will. the town all cries out at once.

!!! i very much agree that i honestly think itll be st up as a wild goose chase of figuring out who “the” knight is, and realizing that . everyone ends up being a knight at some point. like berdly almost was, kris is, alvin is going to be, etc

…i do still think there being a single Roaring Knight who *knows* spreading info of dark worlds will cause the roaring , is plausible.

see, i tend to separate those roles in my head; i think the one spreading the info first/who got it started may be a darkner or something stranger (gaster is my first guess) and unable to form fountains on their own. the knight isnt a role in chess or royalty or whatever that holds full command, it's someone who serves under another figure and acts as their tool.

my general reasoning for kris opening the first few fountains we see is we know Something weird happened to them in the bunker, and i think that's where they could have gotten the info. that doesnt mean they were aware of the roaring, but they would have been the catalyst-knight who started things. gaster wouldnt be a 'knight' but would be the one w the roaring info.

yea it does, i generally agree with most of whatcha said. im tired tho as its midnight. i may edit this tomorrow with more kris and knight thoughts. for sure agree on bunker stuff tho and yea separating the roles makes sense.

i think the main thing that i now ultimately feel cannot be proven one way or another is if kris made the card kingdom fountain. like. all the evidence *towards* it feels like it can easily be spun *against* it like yeah we know something weird happened to them in the bunker and that its probably dark world related, but they seem kinda uneasy about the dark world of the closet existing... but that could be because they're like "hold up i didnt do THAT one" but also, i dunno, what motivation would they necessarily have to make it? in terms of the roles of dark-world-info-spreader and Knight, yeah i agree they've gotta be separate, dunno what i was on yesterday tbh like, theres gotta be someone who *cant do anything* because theyre like *stuck somewhere* trying to *get things to happen in a particular way that benefits them* so all in all i suppose i just believe the conclusion is as per usual "yeah gasters up to some shit, but we cant really confidently say much about whats been going on so far"

my main thoughts on motivation are some combo of the following:

-a belief there is some way to escape the soul/whatever was influencing them pre-player

-hunting for dess

whether they were told by gaster one or both of those things were possible w the dark worlds, or if they just decided it themselves, im not sure. (my firmly fanficcy take was that he told them something along the lines of "use this when your world becomes too much to bear" and they ran with it). they're nervous around it still at first because it feels heavy and weighty and important; they've maybe only gotten glimpses of like the closet lands and such, they don't rly know what to expect. they have not anticipated lancer.

now ofc they've developed new additional motives in that they're making friends and so on. but I also think them having some overriding cause that they Have to make fountains for makes snowgrave make more sense to me; the balance changes from "I have to do this and also I want to take my friend and mom" to "I have to do this and I want people there who can stop me if it goes wrong", but they have to do it either way

this is all firmly Wild Guessing at the moment but I think they have means and opportunity and potential motive for the first two fountains (or one of the two??? kris only forming closet OR only forming card kingdom would be really funny lmao).

my current problem is i have a really solid* (*incoherent and music based only) case for kris opening the classroom fountain but not the librarby but also. my main evidence for ppl perceiving the knight as krislike is queen showing their hand. so like.

i can make a full case for kris getting to the librarby in advance, wanting to get out of castle town asap bc theyre worried noelle and berdly fell in, queen seeing the knight as them, etc. however. the music.

if ch3 doesnt have dont forget in the area themes its going to be a mixed blessing and curse (freed from having to come up w an alternate for ch2, but losing my evidence for ch1)
