"Maybe You are a vampire, and with damaged wings, You sleep, locked in a stone coffin. Dreaming of the heaven You could never go back to"

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!

I found and old sketch of Elzie that I drew several years ago and never finished, and decided it would be a great idea to turn it into a small pixel art animation for this Halloween.

Elzie is a character I created for Vampire's Bit, a small project I worked on for a Game Jam a long time ago.

Once again I limited myself to using only 16 colors, and all of them come from PICO-8's color palettes (both its main palette and the second hidden one).

I did a couple of funny Halloween themed commissions for Vtuber Dee the Sphinx.

Small Dee as a batDee hiding inside a pumpkin, Dee as a vampire, and a Jack-o'-lantern with Dee's face carved on it.

I feel super honored and lucky to get a chance to work with Dee, since she's a very talented content creator that I admire a lot. Not only a very fun streamer, but also an amazing singer! You can't miss the chance to check her!!

Happy Friday The 13th!!!

Here's a sample of the sprite work I did for VanillaBeast: Retro Knock Out!

Mason Gorehees, our parody of Jason, sporting a color palette based on how Jason looked on Friday The 13th for NES. I love working with very limited palettes, specially NES/FAMICOM inspired ones, so Mason was one the characters I enjoyed working on the most!

Are you brave enough to defeat Mason? Get the game and find out!

Last week I participated in MYline media's 1-BIT JAM. The theme of the JAM was Light and Dark, and of course, 1-Bit graphics.

I decided to make a very minimalistic fighting game which I developed in 6 days

I love fighting games a lot, but sometimes I feel they can get overcomplicated as time goes by, so I started wondering how much you could simplify one, while still making it interesting and fun to play. This JAM gave me the opportunity to create something from that idea, and also the opportunity to work with 1-Bit pixel art for the first time, something that was way more complicated than expected, but that I ended enjoying a lot.

By the end of the JAM my game was rated by other participants and ranked in the 101th place (out of 571 entries) as its Overall score, and in 10th place in the Art Category. As you can imagine I'm extremely proud and happy with these results!

While I'm still not sure if I'll make a full game out of this small prototype, the huge amount of positive rates and feedback I have received really tempts me to give it a try eventually. I definitely plan to go back to this project at some point, at least to to fix some bugs, and balance the difficulty a little bit better, so it's closer to what I wanted it to be.

Meanwhile you can play the current version of the game here:

As always any kind of comment and feedback is highly appreciated!

The wait is over, VanillaBeast: Retro Knock-Out! the other big project I have been working on for a long time is finally out!

Think Leisure Suit Larry meeting Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!. Whether you're a hardcore boxing fan, a retro gamer, or a casual gamer looking for a fun (and funny) fast-paced boxing game full of 80's and 90's parody fighters, This is the game for you!

I was the lead pixel artist for this game so you will get see a lot of my animationssprites and backgrounds here, some of them that I'll slowly post and talk more about here. The most ambitious project I've worked in so far, as you can imagine by how big the sprites are, how many boxers you get to fight in this game, and how detailed each background is too, but as someone that loves the original Punch Out! I couldn't miss this chance!

The game is OUT NOW on Steam, and will also be available on Atari VCS soon.

So don't forget to check it!!

Gravity Circuit, one of the big projects I have been working for a while is finally OUT!!

A flashy action packed 2D platformer in the spirit of console classics. Follow Kai, a lone operative war hero who harnesses the mysterious powers of the Gravity Circuit, on an adventure in a futuristic world inhabited by sentient robots.

I did several background pixel art pieces for this game (some of which you can see in these screenshots and on the launch trailer trailer) that I'll slowly post and talk more about here.

I'm extremely proud to have been part of this project and to get a chance to work together with a team full of amazing and super talented people.

The game is OUT NOW on PC (Windows/Linux/macOS)Nintendo SwitchPlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 So don't forget to check it!!

For future updates, you can follow the game's development on Twitter or the community Discord!

More Castlevania today!! Paradoxigent (@lightspiritdev) commissioned me to do the cover art for a new reorchestration of Castlevania II: Belmont's Revenge's music. This time was Praying Hands, the theme for the Cloud Castle. Looking through the little referecens there is for the castles, the in-game graphics, and the artwork made for the American and European releases of the game, made me realize how futuristic, and even alien, this castle looks... I wish we could get more info on it, and about this very underrated game in general, as it made me incredibly curious. Again, for extra fun, this piece follows Game Boy Color's technical limitations closely, and while it would be very tricky to show that many tiles on screen on a real system, is not impossible either.

Some of my recent pixel art work for VanillaBeast: Retro Knock Out!

This is one of my favorite pieces I've made for this project, and also one of the most detailed ones I've worked on so far.

After receiving lots of positive feedback on our last demo we are launching a Kickstarter to help get Retro Knock Out! ported to consoles.

Check the Kickstarter page to learn more about the game itself, the people working on it and all the amazing rewards Vanilla Gaming Company has prepared for its backers, some of them featuring more artwork I made for the project. Many rewards are limited in quantity so stop by and grab them while they're available.

Every bit of help is greatly appreciated! And even if you're unable to pledge, share it out with anyone that could be interested!

Had the luck to work again on a commission for Virtual YouTuber Kumamori Freya. This time is a small animation, that she's currently using as the End Card for her streams. The animation uses a custom 16 color palette, heavily inspired by PICO-8's, but using softer colors to fit the mood of the scene better. Don't forget to check Freya's content too! Her streams are always fun and she is an incredibly good singer!
