How fitting that it was one of the last things she saw before she died, the taste of him still on her lips. The years she spent between the third grade and the twelfth suddenly felt wasted. All that time that could’ve been spent kissing Kent McFuller, wasted. Because the next time she kissed him, it felt like a century had been leading up to it, and as she broke apart, pressing her forehead to his, she knew that if she had the choice, she’d wait as long as she had to for another one.

Kent didn’t know why the hell he kept coming back here when even just standing where he stood when he saw her lying there makes him feel like he’s going to crumble to the ground with pain. But, like clockwork, he’d hop on his bike and go riding around. Maybe he wouldn’t go so often if it hadn’t happened in his own backyard, at his own party, where he could look out the window and still see her crumpled form lying unmoving in the middle of the road.

When Lucas’ familiar blue truck pulled up, Maya slowly and reluctantly climbed into the front seat. For a moment, she was silent. All that could be heard was the sound of some country song quietly playing on Lucas’ radio. “You didn’t have to come pick me up.”

Lucas shrugged, pleasantly, without the slightest hint of irritation in his eyes. “Yes, I did.”

“I wouldn’t have called if I knew you were at work, you know, I didn’t -”

“Maya, relax, it’s my lunch break.” Lucas cut her off.

“Well, that’s worse because now you can’t eat.”

“Alright, you wanna pick something up?”

“That’s not the point.”

“Maya, can you get it into your head that I want to do stupid things like this for you? I’m your husband. It’s my job.”

Maya started to argue, but conceded, and relaxed. She couldn’t help the grin that word brought to her face. “God, ‘husband,’ I love the sound of that.”

“Well, that’s good,” Lucas said, grabbing her hand, “because you’re stuck with me. Now… Wendy’s or Taco Bell?”

Maya raised her eyebrows at him, but she looked down anyway. And sitting smack dab on her ring finger… Oh, god. Oh, god. “Tell me it’s not…” She turned around, whipping her hair behind her and ran to the table to find a - marriage certificate.

“I thought it was a one-night stand… and now we’re married… Lucas, what do we do?”

Lucas shrugged, looking not nearly as affected as he should have been. “What do you mean ‘what do we do?’ We’re married.”

“We are not married!”

“It says right here that-”

“That is not what I mean! We can get a divorce, though, right? Or a - what’s it called - an annulment?”

“Well, yeah, I guess - I mean, do you want to?”

“Of course!” Maya put her hands on her hips, eyes widening. “Do you not want to?”

He scratched the back of his head. “Well, I mean… Of course not. No, definitely divorce.”

“I’m gonna go - Remind me to never get drunk, under any circumstances, ever again.” She took off the ring, laid it down on the table with a small clatter, and before Lucas could respond, she was out the door.

He took the ring, held it in his hand and then quietly walked over to his dresser and set it down in the first drawer. He smiled, only slightly. Better save it, he thought. Maybe we’ll actually need it someday.

Maya stood directly opposite Riley, pointedly not sitting on the bay window. She had her arms crossed over her chest and she was staring Riley down. Unfortunately, Riley was way too good at this game.

“No, I’m definitely mad.”

“I feel like you’re not, though.”

“Riley, I’m pretty sure,” Maya said, and then - she couldn’t help it - she smirked. She thought she’d won. Before Maya could do anything else, though, Riley was across the room and on top of Maya tickling her.

“Riley, quit it!”

“If you’re mad, why are you laughing? Huh?”

“Because you’re tickling me! Now, stop, Riley, we’re supposed to be grown up!”

“Are we? Because right now, I’m tickling you and you’re letting me.”

“Riley, quit it or I’ll bite.”

“You wouldn’t be laughing if you were mad, which means I win and you’re not mad, so - Ow!” Riley rolled off of Maya, grabbing her finger. “You bit me!”

It started at a party, like most of Sirius’ stories did. He remembered seeing him, sitting there on the couch, huddled up next to the armrest like he was trying to take up the least amount of space possible.

Come to think of it, Sirius had never seen him during the daytime. Almost like he was - oh, what was the word - nocturnal. But better still, the tight ass was reading. The Clash was playing, everyone was dancing, there was a keg in the other room and this git was engrossed in a dusty old book. I was almost disgusting to watch. “Oi! Book boy!” Sirius shouted across the room, taking the last swig of his beer, then crossing the distance between him and the couch. “What the hell, mate?”

1. Post Break Up Kiss - The kiss that catches both of you off guard, but says I miss you, I’m sorry and please love me again all at once without any words being spoken.

2. Early Morning Kiss - A kiss that’s a wake up call, its barely even lips touching, more like they're kissing your chin because they’re so tired in the early morning haze.

3. Hesitant Kiss - The type of kiss where their lips touch a brush against each other’s a few times, breath fanning across each other’s faces as one waits for the other to make a move.

4. In The Moment Kiss - Maybe it’s in the middle of an argument or you just looked to damn beautiful not to kiss, but their lips were hot against yours and it felt too good to stop.

5. Can’t Let Go Yet Kiss - The type of goodbye kiss when you keep leaving quick pecks on each other’s lips, but end up pulling each other back for more, which could go on for hours if one of you don’t finally pull away.

6. Empty Kiss - When one of you don’t kiss back, just the stoic feeling of their lips on yours, it’s empty, like no one even cares anymore.

7. Unbreakable Kiss - The type of kiss that really shouldn’t be happening, it’s a mistake, but you just can’t find yourself able to pull away.

8. Breathtaking Kiss - It’s the kiss that you can’t do anything for a few seconds after, you keep your eyes closed with mouth agape of you try to let your mind process what happened.

9. Distracting Kiss - When you are competing, maybe playing video games or something so you press kisses anywhere available; arms, nose, knees, ears, knuckles, temple, just anywhere to distract them.

10. Quick, Goodbye Kiss - It’s the almost late for work kisses when their lips just peck yours, like an unfinished goodbye.
