I’ve had some pretty wild depression the past couple years. I’m finally starting to work through it - with art. This is the first piece I’ve made for myself in around ten years, and… yeah.

I am doing better, not in any harm’s way (please don’t worry, mom). I just needed to get it out. Thanks for reading, I know it’s long.

Hey all - thanks for the support. It was scary as shit putting this online. I haven’t really looked at the comments much because, well, "never look at the comments” -- but I wanted to issue a clarification: 

The "Jason is a wolf in sheep's clothing" article in the dream sequence is totally fictional. None of my exes ever wrote anything like that. It's just a recurring nightmare I've been having since early 2016. I had thought I'd made that clear in the art and dialog but some folk got confused. The conglomeration of exes represented on the page are kind and wonderful and would never do anything like that. I sincerely apologize, I had thought that was clear in the art/dialog, but I don’t think I did enough there.

I updated the art on the website to clarify it, and I’ll see if I can do so on Tumblr too. Regardless, here’s the updated page:

None of my exes ever wrote anything like that, especially the conglomeration represented on page here. They’re kind and wonderful human beings and I am absolutely mortified I didn’t make that clearer to begin with. I’ve since edited the art to clarify that. Sincerest apologies, it wasn’t something any of my beta readers flagged and it wasn’t something that crossed my mind.

Hey y’all! Here’s another weird history/myth video lesson.

This one is about peculiar deaths in history. I’ll probably do another video on the subject, as I don’t want for subject matter.

Hey all! Long time. Weird time. How you been? Healthy/hearty/happy, I hope.

I’ve been keeping away from pretty much all RP-related stuff for over a year due to basically having a mental health breakdown (doing much better now!) -- but at the request of some friends, started just doing pretty informal hangouts where I tell weird history stories. I thought I’d share.

Keep in mind: these aren’t RP. This is me joking around with friends. The production value is low, I’m not providing citations or content warnings (at least so far), and I am almost certainly not going to check the comments. But it’s weird times and I’ve had fun doing these and I thought I’d share. I hope that it’s helpful.

Funmilayo Ransome-Kuti, a Nigerian teacher and activist who dethroned a king and inspired feminist activism across all of Africa, died on this day in 1978. She was often called “The Mother of Africa” and “The Lioness of Lisabi.” If I was in charge of teaching a history class, I’d put her in the same standing as Martin Luther King, Jr. or Gandhi.

I mean i know Pixies are said to reward consideration and punish neglect on the part of larger humans but still weird choice, and will we be seeing a Colt Pixie, a type of Pixie which takes the form of a scruffy, pale horse or pony to lead travellers and other livestock astray (similar to a Will-o'-the-wisp), and is often associated with Puck.

Honestly it’s not really about pixies per se – it’s just that “Pixie Legal” had a good ring to it. The main character even says it’s not technically correct, but it works better for marketing purposes. The book features a wide variety of cases with supernatural creatures from around the world. I’m not even sure there’s a case specifically featuring pixies in the current draft.

The overarching plot, as it stands, centers on the main character skyrocketing to fame when he makes an ironclad contract that gets three as-intended wishes from a very pissed-off djinni. His success proves short-lived, however, when his client gives said wishes to their spoiled daughter for her 10th birthday, and she proceeds to essentially destroy the fabric of reality with them.

I have like three chapters entirely devoted to just how he works out the contract. It’s deeply nerdy and involves a lot of obscure creatures of myth and folklore, but it’s a lot of fun.

Wild West abortion doctor and “Queen of the Bolsheviks” Marie Equi was born on this day in 1872. She is the only known lesbian to have been incarcerated in San Quentin for sedition. She had an affair with Margaret Sanger, mother of Planned Parenthood and pioneering figure of birth control. She threatened to stab cops with poisoned hatpins. She horse whipped a dude in the face once for disrespecting her girlfriend, and made the New York Times because of it.

Wildly difficult and extremely strong-minded, she was a terror to the political establishment and, unfortunately, to many of her loved ones. There’s evidence that she engaged in abusive and unfaithful behavior with her partners several times throughout her life.

He lived as a man, he died as a man, and people robbing his grave for their voyeuristic pleasure so they can make him a "feminist" icon actively harms the trans community. Hi -- first off, apologies for not reading the article more thoroughly from that lens, it was posted in haste as I had about five minutes of time walking from my day job to my car. I hear you and I apologize. I’ve deleted the post.

Secondly, I’ll reply with a rejoinder: have you considered writing to me as if I am a human being? If you’ve been following my blog for any period of time, you know that I deeply care about this sort of thing. It would have meant the world to have you approach me with, “Hey, that article came off to me as transphobic, and here’s why. It upset me that you post it. I ask that you please be more thoughtful going forward.” instead of flaming me. I understand you’re upset, and why that is. Your feelings are valid. I’m sorry to have put something in your feed that made you upset, and I hope you can accept that I’m deeply sorry. 

But please understand that I’m human. I’m going to have slip-ups like this. 

Getting messages like this really hurts. I'm constantly behind on checking my email or opening my Tumblr inbox because every single time, every single day, there’s something like this waiting for me. It’s absolutely the most major factor in me shutting down this project and moving on to do something else. Hard to run a business when you start having major anxiety over just checking email.

Again, apologies. I hope that today is a better day for you.
