You (general) know why people get chased by these guys? Because the difference between geese and most other animals is that geese don't think you're hot shit for being human, and people treat them poorly first, expecting submission for no reason other than "I'm bigger and can bully you because I'm human." And that's actually kind of awful. People expect geese to give them respect when they've given the goose none.
I've been hissed at before, but never chased. Never bit or hit or scratched. In fact most of my MANY interactions with Canada geese (because they're all over here, I have pics of me as a 3yo hand feeding wild Canada geese, it's not hard to be kind to them, a literal 3yo can do it) are quite friendly! Because I go into interactions with respect. I don't make loud noises,I don't move directly toward them, I don't EVER raise my arms (which is goose for "hey come fight me" not, as most people think, a way to make yourself big and scary- that's horses, you're thinking of horses). I speak softly, I don't approach their nests, and if I have to walk near them, I walk at a steady (not slow or fast) pace without hesitation at an angle and speak gently about how I see them and they're very good geese. They can see me, I'm obviously not coming for them, I'm not trying to sneak up on them, I'm not looking to interact. 99.99999% of geese will hiss, as a warning, but will ultimately leave you alone if you leave them alone. They might follow you to escort you out of their immediate territory (like a nest zone). But they can't chase you if you don't run.
If you think geese are mean, it's because you've been lied to, or you've probably been a real Asshole to them. As the creature with the bigger brain and capacity to learn from your behaviors in abstract ways, consider adjusting how you act first, and seeing if it helps your perception of geese as anything other than literally just a bird.
