What would you call your style of art and what inspired it?
I don’t really have a name for it. It’s got abstract, geometric, minimalist, and psychedelic influences sprinkled throughout, but I’m not really sure what to call it. I’m open to suggestions.
That said, the style I have now is a culmination of over 15 years of experimenting with all types of art and design. And it didn’t actually start to emerge as a style until 4-5 years ago. I honestly wasn’t trying to create my own style, I was just trying to create things that I wanted to see. I’d sit down, put some music on, and create. Every day.
Inspiration is an interesting topic. I think an artist’s life experiences and interests come together to inspire their work. I’ve always been interested in design, architecture, music, and psychedelics. And over time, all of those things have inspired me in different ways I think.
But for me, I don’t see or hear something and think, “Hey, this inspires me to create something like this or that.” It’s much more on a subconscious level. When I’m actually creating art, it’s almost as if I’m not even thinking about it. The ideas are kind of just flowing through me from somewhere else. Is that coming from the experiences and images I’ve stored in my subconscious? Or the collective consciousness? I still haven’t quite figured that out. I’ll let you know if I do.
