LESS THAN TWO HOURS AGO: four cornell students have been suspended (and at least the one reporting was evicted, unknown about the others) for their involvement with their campus's gaza solidarity encampment. during a school year centering freedom of expression no less!

an update on our cornell comrades, sadly it only gets more infuriating. an associate professor at cornell has reported 2/4 students suspended are international students who are now without visas. this is fucking cruel, cornell knew exactly what they were doing when they picked off these students for suspension.

Last night was so bad for me bc why did my flatmate telling me she was going to measure her alcohol lead me into a deranged rant about how touching someone's knee while drunk and looking into their eyes and saying they don't mind is not platonic and fuck the creators for telling us we were crazy what the fuck we were not crazy you can't just put in an airport scene paralleling the lovers in casablanca and then tell us we're crazy for reading into it

Columbia is unhousing students of color after suspending them:

while we’re here, everything is connected. these ivy league “academic” institutions will always side with empire because they were solely created in the interest of empire.

the Columbia University arrests are worse than they seem. They're arresting protesting students for trespassing. It goes without saying students cannot meaningfully "trespass" in the common areas of a university they attend. So Columbia University has suspended all student protestors from their institution, in the process revoking their access to housing, their belonging, and most crucially damaging their academic futures. We are witnessing full scale silencing and removal of anyone of conscience from the next generation of academia.

beyond that the columbia common is literally an open space during the day; the gates are open and it's possible to pass through it like you'd pass through a regular block. even after my student ID expired i was still able to walk through the commons bc ID is not requested until you enter an actual building. it's quite common to see parents, toddlers, and such who are clearly not enrolled just hanging out. so not only were the students not trespassing at a SCHOOL THEY PAY FOR, there was also not a precedent for non-students to be disallowed from the grass and walkways.

there's a lot of fic where ed and stede are at the inn for a couple weeks, maybe a month or two, and then one day ed's just like "hey stede did you know after you left izzy told me he wished he'd let the english kill me? actually he was emotionally abusive to me for years, it was really fucked up," and he tells the whole story and how he felt about it and it's very cathartic, i love that shit, don't get me wrong here.

but personally i tend to think that's assuming an ed who's too quick to get to the point of recognizing what was fucked up about his relationship with izzy. at the end of the season he understands that izzy hurt him, but he hasn't really internalized yet that he didn't deserve to be treated that way by someone who was supposed to be on his side, let alone that the fact that he eventually retaliated with violence doesn't change that; he thinks izzy was a dick but also that it's kind of his own fault for being unlovable enough to inspire that kind of treatment from people, he doesn't really understand that he could have expected better from people who claimed to care about him. when izzy apologizes for treating ed terribly for years ed's only response is to claim he should be the one apologizing. his own guilt about how he treated izzy is going to make it impossible for him to see anything wrong with how izzy treated him for a long while.

it's going to be a long healing process as he gets used to what an actual positive relationship with someone who treats him like a person is like, and that's sad and sweet. but also kind of funny because you know who absolutely does not have any sort of complicated emotions like that getting in the way of understanding the situation between ed and izzy? stede doesn't.

inevitably once they're living together stede and ed are going to start talking about their respective backstories before meeting each other. and izzy will naturally feature in a lot of ed's stories. and one day ed is going to be talking about a raid from years ago and casually mention how he did something izzy didn't approve of and izzy said something insanely horrible that poked him right in the trauma on purpose and then he'll notice stede staring at him in horror and ask what's wrong. and stede will very cautiously be like "well edward of course we both miss izzy very much. but. have you considered that he could have not talked to you like that," and ed will be like "oh, well, that's just izzy, you know how he was, he didn't really mean it like that. anyway as i was saying we had all this loot," and meanwhile poor stede just has to act like he's paying attention to the rest of this conversation while trying as hard as he can to incinerate izzy's coffin with his mind

in college i had more than one friend who had a really toxic parent and kind of knew it but wasn't at the point of being ready to cut them out of their life or anything yet. so one moment they'd be telling a story about what was obviously textbook emotional abuse and manipulation, and then the next they're just talking about their evil parent as if this is a normal parent-child relationship, and i'm just sitting here thinking, ok, this is an important relationship in my friend's life and i must remember that i do not have access to all of it and there may be good parts i don't know about, but wow i secretly hate your mom. i can only imagine after a while at the inn stede's relationship with izzy's memory is going to end up a lot like that

and in at least one case i eventually met the parent and they were actually really nice and seemed to genuinely like me which just kind of made it worse, and i imagine stede's going to feel that way about the brief period where he and izzy were sorta kinda almost on the verge of becoming friends. like, that just means he knows izzy was perfectly capable of doing better, and chose to treat ed that way instead

For Boop-Badges Collectors

Rough estimate: It's possible to reach 1000 boops in less than 2 hours (took me 1:30h), if you got some people to spam it to.

If you are a blog where people can spam boop's to, reblog this.

I know multiple people have probably brought this up before but it makes me a little insane that Ed’s hair is down when he’s sitting on Stede’s bed in ep 6 and I need to know who did that. Was it him? Or did Stede undo his hair? Was it gentle and tender? Did he run his fingers though Ed’s hair before going to close the curtains???? I NEED TO KNOW
