About Us

Hello, welcome! We’re a dedicated fic rec account for MDZS (TGCF and possibly other c-novels in the future). Our goal is to recommend fics that are faithful to the novel canon characterization. If a fic deviates from that, we’ll tag it properly. You can explore our Tags page to explore the tags. You can visit our About Us page to get the deets about our blog. (Tag and About Us page links only work on the desktop website!) Here’s a brief look at what our blog will look like:

  • Fic Recs - Every Monday.
  • Author Spotlight - Highlighting an author we like every other Friday. (currently on hold)
  • Exploring Tropes - We’ll declare a trope (like time travel) on 1st of every month. We’ll publish a master post with all the fics focusing on the trope on the 30th. Fic submissions by the 25th of each month. You can submit recs or write a fic in the trope and submit them.
  • Ask and You Shall Receive - Asks for fic recs accepted between Monday and Saturday every week. Asks will be answered on Monday and Wednesday unless we manage to get it all done by Monday.
  • Feature Me - We will feature your work in this post. Submissions are accepted throughout the month. Masterposts are published on the 1st and 15th of every month. Three fics or authors per post.

Please send fic recs through Submit a Rec and fic rec requests through Asks. Please read our About Us page before submitting a rec. It will be very helpful to you and to us!

Summary:

Wei Wuxian stared openly at the man sitting across from him, unable to look away from the strange picture he made.
He wore common clothes and had his hair up in a simple bun, his expression was contained, but soft as he looked at the baby held in his lap. Though nothing about the way he presented himself was outwardly remarkable, his mannerisms gave him a distinguished air. There was a gracefulness to him, the type that hid strength behind it.
And he was beautiful. Even missing his usual mourning white and forehead ribbon there was no way Wei Wuxian would have mistaken him for anyone else.
Still, the Lan Wangji with him right now might as well be a different person from the one he knew. He was still as stoic and silent as ever, but there was a warmth in him that he’d never seen before.

Or: Wei Wuxian’s life takes a turn for the unexpected when he’s approached by Lan Wangji on his way back from a night hunt.

I did some art for @t98-ao3's fic for @pocketfulofrecs MXTX Epic Journeys Big Bang! It was a lot of fun working on these and T98's worldbuilding is super engaging! Really gave me some good arting fuel.

My two illustrations for the lovely MDZS fic Carry Me Anew written by @ashayatreldai for @pocketfulofrecs's MXTX Epic Journeys Big Bang Event 2022. Ashaya's prose is to die for—gorgeous writing through and through. I included snippets of the fic related to the art below!

In softest air, a stutter Steers the heart away from the bane Leaves the lasting sorrow and carries me anew In the aftermath of what happened in the Guanyin Temple, Lan Xichen entered seclusion. Little did he know that playing through the Collection of Turmoil damaged his Core. To find the solution, Lan Wangji and Wei Wuxian undertake an epic journey to Lan An's temple - there to resolve an ancient dispute between the descendants of Baoshan Sanren and Lan An, to discover the cure for the Lan Clan Leader's trouble, and answers of hope for their own developing relationship and for Lan Xichen's own future. A story about love which waits centuries to be reunited with a beloved.

MXTX Epic Journeys Big Bang

Hello hello!

We are late, but we are here!

We will begin posting all the wonderful art and fic made for this event! The writers and artists have worked really hard, and deserve all the love on their creations.

We will be posting a collab every other day. Here on our blog, we will only be doing reblogs until the ending of posting.

Once all the fic+art have been posted, we will make a full post with all the works.

Ju’s thoughts - LWJ weaves a red silk robe for WWX, just so he can take/rip if off of him. It's gorgeous! This is the kind of smut that is just so tender and full of love! Beautiful!!!!!!

Nie Mingjue’s spirit lingers after his death. He sees everything, all the while unable to interfere or make his presence known in any way, less than a specter of a soul that had once been. It is its own kind torture.
Right until Guanyin Temple, where everything comes to light, and Wei Wuxian finally puts his spirit to rest, finally leaving him to sleep forevermore.
Or so Mingjue had assumed.

Ju’s thoughts - After NMJ dies, he lingers on, and sees everything that happens after he dies. This fic is very introspective on NMJ’s thoughts and feelings, and one of the things I liked the most is that he doesn’t shy away from his part on the bad things that happened, or the things he could have done to help out. Both time-travel and WWX’s adoption by NMJ are just a little scene at the end (and we’re all hoping the author might want to write more chapters for this oneshot).

It's the 1st of June. Can you believe half the year is gone?

Anyways, a new month means we have a new trope for you to experiment with! This time, it is-----

OPPOSITES!

So, what do we mean by opposites? We mean we flip something in the canon story and make it opposite. Want examples? How about-

  • LanWWX and Jiang disciple LWJ?
  • GhostKingXL and Heavenly Official HC?
  • LWJ chases and WWX silently falls in love?

You have free reign. You can flip anything in canon and try to make it make sense. You can even write 'bottomji!' Just try to keep it in character as much as you can because that's the challenging part of this trope!

There are no sign-ups needed for this. We give you a trope to focus on for a month, you write on the trope, we make a masterpost linking all of your fics and add them to our Exploring Tropes Ao3 collection. Tag us on Tumblr/Twitter whenever you publish something based on the trope so that we know what to add to our Masterlist.

All we request is that you follow our blog's theme and keep the characterizations as close to novel canon as possible!

The event is simple-

1. We announce the trope on the first of every month.

2. You create as much or as little content as you like. There is no minimum word count or anything required.

3. There's no need to sign up or even join our Discord for this (though we do encourage you to)

4. You can publish your work anytime during the month but tag us at Pocketful AND add the fic to our collection.

5. If you want to be featured on our Masterpost, please publish your content before 27th of June. It is best if you submit them to our Ao3 collection because it can be difficult to track Tumblr tags and sometimes we can miss things.

6. You can submit your work to our collection at any time, even we move on to the next month's trope. The idea is to have all trope fics in one place.

7. This time we aren't going to make a post of fic recs, only the content written.
