*It’s been a long time since you wandered level one. So long, in fact, a whole new deadly basement has popped up! Or so the ominous red paint plastered along the doorframe and the surrounding area says. When did that get there?*

Try knocking. I’m sure there’s nothing wrong with that plan

[Storm hesitates, and looks over his shoulder. He knows better than to open mysterious doors in OSHA, but paperwork from his Sleeping Evil Relocation Programme has left him bored. He needs a good adventure.]

*The door swings open, and you see a strange, orange headed man with wings hammering in planks to the wall. The room he’s in is a wreck, with boxes flipped over, a massive ladder in the middle of the room leading to a light, and a punch of floor plans scrabbled on walls. How much of this did he do himself, and how much of this was already here?*

He notices you and stops hammering for a second.

…Did you read the signs? The big red ones telling you “don’t come in, danger!”

I'm illiterate.

[It's a joke, though it doesn't sound much like one.]

What are you up to, stranger?

*He puts down the hammer and walks over to you.*

Fixing the boards up from a…ok first, do you know there’s beasts down here? Second, do you know they don’t like each other that much and will get in giant fights for no reason beyond fun?

No, I've never been down here. [He tilts his head, eyes twinkling in either amusement or curiosity. Maybe both.]

What kind of beasts?

Ones that run, walk, crawl, invent a 4th way to move, fly, etc etc. A lot of them are venomous and have mixed views on being a good parent. And unfortunately, a lot of them like ripping boards off the walls to use in nests. Most importantly, almost all of them want us 2 dead. Nothing personal, they just don’t deal with smells well.

Well, on one hand, I'm not sure if I smell too great right now. On the other, I can't die, so I'm not too concerned about - what do you mean they have "mixed views on being a good parent" and "invent a 4th way to move"?

A strange figure with completely white hair and very pale skin is passing by, walking with the heavy use of a wooden staff. They look to be extremely elderly, ancient in fact. Their eyes are covered by a cloth wrapping.
Behind them flies what looks like a corvid-like animal, with feathers so black that she appears like a hole in reality itself, the silhouette broken up only by two glowing emerald-green dots where the eyes should be.

[He walks up to the figure, shaking slightly. His throat has a jagged, poorly-healed scar across it, where dried blood is caked. His face is pale and sunken in, and his hair is greasy and unkempt. He looks very lost.]

Hello, young one. You appear to be quite lost. Do you require some assistance with directions?

The bird squawks, somehow managing to sound condescending.

Now now, Nox, this is not the time for that.

...Young? [He squints and rubs his eyes.] Yeah. I think I need directions. W-Where... am I?

Once one has reached my age, everyone seems young. And you are currently in the building that serves as the main centre for the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, not too far from the largest public library on the premises. Where are you intending to go?

I don't know.

You must be very lost indeed then. Shall we just wander for a while until we find somewhere you'd like to stop?

...Alright.

Sage begins to walk besides him with no particular destination in mind.

May I ask for your name, my child?

I don't have one.

That is understandable. How would you prefer to be called, then?

I... I don't know.

Take your time, then. You don't need to come up with something like that right now if you're unsure. I have no desire to pressure you into making any choices.

...Thank you.

[He relaxes slightly, shoulders drooping but a nervous smile briefly crossing his face. He has a name- he thinks he does- but it's hard to remember.]

The two are approaching the Embroidery Department in their wanderings.

You are very welcome, my child. Have you been here for very long?

I don't know that either. Sorry.

You need not apologise for something which you cannot control.

[He nods and looks around.] Where are we?

We are currently walking past the Embroidery department, which is not necessarily a safe thing to venture into.

Noxardor squawks indignantly.

That is no way to speak about someone, Nox, and you know it, even if they do threaten to eat people.

Eh... What did it say?

Something insulting that is not worth repeating, as is often the case with this cheeky little friend of mine.

[He smiles.]

Strong opinion, I see.

Hello. The Immortal OSHA office is back in business. I need to finish cleaning up the mess whoever ran it previously left behind, but visitors are always welcome.

[K]: Oh. You Are Back. Are You Pretending Not To Remember You Were The One Last In That Office, Or Did You Finally Recieve Repercussions For Your Actions?

What?

Sorry. I-I don't know what you mean.

[K]: So We Are Doing This, Hm? For Your Sake, I Hope You Have Experienced Some Sort Of Memory Or Information Loss, Because I Am Not In The Mood To Be Played With Right Now.

Do You Remember Me, Immortal?

No. I don't. People keep assuming I do, but I'm real fucking sorry to disappoint.

[K]: ...Hm. As Pissed Off As I Am At Your Previous Actions, I Cannot Hold Them Against You If You Do Not Even Remember Them. So I Suppose You Technically Get A Second Chance Here. I Reccomend Not Screwing This One Up By Allowing Horrible Things To Happen To People Who Thought You Were Their Friend.

I Am Not In The Right Mood To Be Nice About This. Which. Is Not A You Thing. I Have Had A Really, Really Shit Few Weeks. Not Helping My Ability To Not Be Pissy As Hell. But. Regardless. I Will Give You The Benefit Of The Doubt. Since, You Know, Something Something Memories Making Us Who We Are. If You Do Not Remember Your Past Actions Then Judging You For Them Is. Fucked Up.

So. Slate Wiped Clean. Complete Reset.

Hello, I Am The Janitor. They And It Pronouns. Who Are You?

...Storm. Any. It's good to meet you...

Good To Meet You Too. Um. Are You Able To Find Your Way Around OSHA? I Figure You Should Probably Find Out How To Get To The Cafeteria And Clinic If You Do Not Already Know, For Uh, Convenience Reasons

Yeah. Uh. Mike came and... visited.

I. See. Fair Enough Then. Um. Clinic! Clinic Good. Are You Familiar With The Clinic?

No. I probably should make a visit.

Probably A Good Idea. Uh. Medical Checkups Are Always Important.

I Could. Show You Where It Is. At Some Point?

If you wouldn't mind.

I Would Be Fine With That. I Am Usually Free, So... Whenever You Have Time, Let Me Know

I do have a lot of free time on my hands.

Fair. Uh. Might Be A Good Idea To Have A Check Up When I Show You Where The Clinic Is. I Do Not Think Amnesia Usually Happens Without Any Other Side Effects. You May Have Some Form Of Injuries, So. Probably Best To Double Check That

Oh, yes, I've been experiencing a lot of side effects.

Oh Shit, That Is Not Good - Um, Are You Free Now? I Am Starting To Get Concerned That You May Have Developed Amnesia Through Either Some Kind Of Magical Or Mundane Tampering - Most Likely Chemically, I Think - Or Straight Up Blunt Force Trauma. Either Way, Your Brain May Have Recieved Some Damage, And. Like. I Cannot Just Stand By And Not Make Sure You Get This Checked Out

Like, It May Be Fine? But I Would Rather Be Safe Than Sorry. Amnesia Generally Indicates Some Form Of Distress Or Injury To The Brain, And Like... Depending On The Side Effects, You May Have Physical Damage To The Brain Or Possibly Your Nervous System? That Or A Chemical Imbalance. There Are Multiple Causes Of Amnesia Even If We Do Not Include Outside Harm, Which... I Think May Be A Possibility Here

Are You In Your Office Right Now? I Am Heading Over. Like. Call Me Overly Cautious But I Think You Should Get This Checked Out Right Now, Before You Develop Any Symptoms That Could Seriously Harm You

Oh I definitely have some kind of damage. Anyways, yes, I'm there. I'll wait patiently.

Alright, I Will Be There Soon.

*True to their word, Kishar knocks on the door only one or two minutes later; they must have hurried*

Storm? I Am Here. I Do Not Know The Extent Of Your Symptoms, Are You Okay To Walk, Or Would You Prefer I Carry You To The Clinic?

*Their original hostility is completely gone by now, replaced by genuine concern. It might be a little worrying that the Janitor can switch from hating someone to worrying about their health so quickly... but it's pretty handy for Storm right now, so.*

I can walk. It hurts a little bit sometimes, and I can get dizzy, but I can walk. [He shrugs. He stands up. He looks a little different than Amara. His hair is more grown out and his body is covered in scars. He has a nice, comfortable coat and several bandages on his body. His face is soft, devoid of the angry tension Amara held.]

*Kishar notices the difference immediately*

If It Hurts, Then I Can Carry You. Just Because You Can Does Not Mean You Have To. I Reccomend Mentioning That To The Doctors By The Way; They Might Be Able To Get You A Mobility Aid That Can Help You Walk Without Pain

*Hesitantly, they hold out a hand, either to beckon Storm closer, or maybe just to hold his hand while they walk if he insists on walking himself*

That'd... be good.

[Storm decided to take their hand ]

*They hold Storm's hand very gently, giving an awkward smile.*

Alright, Let Me Know If You Need Me To Walk Slower, Okay?

*They begin walking at a fairly average pace, keeping an eye on Storm in case he needs to stop*

Thanks.

[Storm seems alright, though his head is ducked awkwardly. He seems a bit anxious, wary of the near-stranger who was venomous towards him just a half hour ago.]

*Kishar notices his anxiety - mostly because they're doing their best to spot if he needs to stop - and hums, softly*

I. Am Sorry. For How I First Responded To You. I Would Not Have If I Knew You Had No Memories. Immortal, Um, He Hurt A Lot Of People. People I Care About. It... Hit Hard, Because I Thought We Were Friends. If I Had Known You Did Not Remember Anything, I Would Not Have Treated You Like I Would Him. Without Memories... You Are Basically A Different Person. And I Will Not Blame You For Someone Elses Actions.

*They give Storm an awkward smile, trying to be comforting*

If It Would Make You Feel More Comfortable, I Could Tell You A Bit About Myself As We Walk? I Do Not Think I Am Very Interesting, But I Would Be Happy To Help You Feel Comfortable

[Storm briefly lags behind, slowing to an uncomfortable shuffle as he processes this new information about himself.]

[Immortal.]

[-He was in a fugue state, drifting in and out of fog, always angry, always hurting, always wanting to hurt but wanting to keep others from hurting, he didn't trust anyone, he was a robot, he was nobody, he was trying to be good but he-]

[-He skips forward a little bit to catch back up to Kishar, trying to not let his unease show on his face. His head hurts again. He doesn't think about whatever he just thought of. Trying makes it worse.]

Yeah. Okay.

Alright, Uh. So I am One Of OSHAs Only Janitors, Right? I Uh, I Am Very Busy Because Of It. Luckily I. Am Not Human. Which Uh, Makes It Easier? Since I Am A Lot Less Fragile, You Know?

*It's clear they're trying to be careful about what they say, attempting to not overwhelm Storm more.*

Why so few? This is a big place.

I Actually Uh, Have Multiple Bodies? Sort Of Like A Hive Mind Situation, Except With Only One Mind. It Is... Just How I Work, You Know? It Is Probably Best Not To Think Too Much About It, Really, It Takes Ages To Explain. But Uh, It Does Make Cleaning Around Here Easier, Sort Of.

*They hope this isn't too much information at once. They genuinely don't want to upset Storm*

[This catches his interest. He tilts his head, seeming slightly less disoriented now.]

That's interesting. Can you feel all of the sensations of your other bodies right now? At once? How do you focus?

Yeah. Okay.

He looks very lost.]

...Hello.

Sorry.

Hey.

[Storm walks up to the person, wearing sunglasses and looking just a little apologetic.]

You're very... bright. It's distracting. Can you move?

I Am More Than Bright. But If You Must Insist.

You Appear.. Familiar. This Place Is One For Immortals, Judging By The Light Of Your Souls So I Suppose That Is Something You Hear Frequently.

...Y-Yeah. It is.

[Storm isn't bothered by the persons reappearance, rather their noting his familiarity.]

Thanks for moving. And you are?

Toruris. I Am The Light, And You Are Already Known To Me But Let's Indulge For The Sake Of Conversation, So What Do You Claim As Your Name?

Uh. Storm. It's good to meet you.

We Will See. How True Is Your Immortality?

Why do you ask?

I Want To Know If You Could Survive My Preferred Level Of Light.

Let's give it a shot.

*toruris' light burns brighter, ever brighter. it keeps making it brighter somewhat slowly, until the heat from their light is starting to partially melt the building the around the two; which is when it dims suddenly, back to the original just a little irritating level*

Apologies, I Had Forgotten That Buildings Will Melt With Enough Of My Light.

[Storm's skin is a flushed red where it isn't scarred, their eyes squeezed shut and a grimace on their face.]

Ah. It's alright. Wow.

Are You Okay? I Knew That My Light Could Burn, But I Had Expected An Immortal To Be Far Less Effected By It.

Not injured, if that's what you mean. My vision is spotty, but I'll give it a second.

[They blink at Toruris.]

I'm primarily human, just an enhanced, immortal one.

I See. Are You Still Effected By Pathogens?

No. Why do you ask?

[It's a lie, but he doesn't trust this stranger with that information.]

I Did Not Think To Stop Some Of The Dangerous Aspects Of My Light. The Kind That Can Afflict Cancers Specifically.

Oh, I'll be fine.
