Hey! How are you? I haven't seen you around, but I know that you are a busy lady. How is law school? I hear your seeing someone new too. Any relationship advice?

Hello anon! Thanks for taking the time to ask! I usually try not to post OOC asshattery on my page, but I’ll go ahead and post.

Law school is going very well.  I had a rough start, but I am thankful that after that rough start, I was able to refocus before winter finals. My grades have only improved since and my doubled efforts were reflected in my spring exam marks.

Socially and emotionally, however, law school is tough. Law school is its own beast, which I won’t harp on about. Even if I did, those who aren’t in it wouldn’t understand. Unfortunately, lots of legal students feel the same way I do, but I’m fortunate enough not to let it get to me too much.  Those stresses have caused some of the people I formed strong bonds with to drop out of law school all together.  One of the toughest things I’ve been through this year is the loss of a very close friend. There were, of course, rumors and speculations about the circumstances surrounding his death, but I find the idea of speculation -- especially about the dead -- to be tawdry. I consider myself  fortunate enough to have known him for the short time I did.

I tried new things this semester too such as pro bono work in the public service field. I also was able to litigate in front of a judge during a mock motion hearing. Even though I have a shy demeanor in person, I am an entirely different person on the bench and the motion to suppress evidence was denied (score for me, the prosecution!) Though, I highly doubt I have a future in litigation. It was a little too intense for me! But, at least I know that.

And yes, I am seeing someone very special. I actually met him during my pro bono work in New York. (New York is a big city, but this is a small world!) I do believe this man will be here for me long term and we are both very serious and invested about working toward a future with each other being a part of it.

I’ve been through a lot of horrible relationships so maybe I’m not the person you should be asking advice from, but maybe again, I am. There are several things I see with this relationship that I haven’t seen in my other ones.

Trust + Time spent at work: Trust is obviously an important factor. My life is busy and my schedule is constantly changing but also constantly packed. I don’t have the time to share a blood supply with my cellphone and I don’t have the time to explain things over and over again. If I say “I will be busy today” my current partner understands. I don’t have to worry about getting down time only to come back to a phone full of text messages that accuse me of seeing other people, sleeping with other people, etc. etc. etc. when I was literally at school, at work, in the library studying -- or a combination of all the above -- all day.  One major factor that I feel adds to the success of our relationship is that we’re both equally matched. Meaning, I’m busy and so is he. He doesn’t have the time to become paranoid when I don’t pine for his attention for a few hours. When we get down time, we’re able to just enjoy our moments with each other.

Communication + Compromise:  Just like anyone else’s relationship, we’re not perfect and there are things we don’t agree on. However, I’ve always been someone to stop and try and communicate to resolve the issue before it spirals out of control. The partner I am with is one of the rare people I’ve found that stops to LISTEN for the sake of actually listening instead of listening to craft an argument or push back against me in some way. I talk, he listens. Then he talks, I listen. It’s very simple! When we communicate, we both end up resolving issues very quickly through compromise. I fix what was bothering him and he fixes what was bothering me even if that means a sacrifice on both our parts.

Truth: Admitting when you mess up is hard for all of us.  But sometimes, it’s necessary.  Also, in the age of social media and instant communication, it’s easy to air all your dirty laundry and skew the “light” in a way that makes one individual look better than the other.  I try very hard to keep my private life well...private, especially the “dirty” parts. Even when people pry, I give vague answers. I’m passed the point in my life where I feel it’s necessary to broadcast every argument I get in to, and have been for a while. Fortunately, my partner is too. I know I don’t have to worry about our private life being talked about and, if it ever becomes necessary to talk about, I won’t have to worry about the truth being skewed. We’re both honest people.

Agreeing on the big picture: I’m one of the rare people who exists in modern times who doesn’t agree with modern dating. I think the idea of being repulsed by family, unity, and children is a huge red flag and illustrates just how selfish or lazy a person is. Of course, I’ve dated casually here and there, but after a good many hookups, I know that such a vapid lifestyle isn’t for me. I date people only if I’m serious about them and about a future with them. If my partner is repulsed by the idea of marriage and family, I know that not only are we not on the same page, but we’re in different books entirely. Fortunately, me and my partner are very much on the same page. We’re driven and future oriented.

If you can find all those qualities in a partner, you have an equation which equals success.

Good luck and best wishes!

♝- Who’s the most intelligent person you know?

Make my muse uncomfortable:

The question caused her pause, a slight crease between brows. “Well, intelligence is a rather… unique thing. People are intelligent in different ways. Wisdom, book smarts, high levels of education… verus tactical or technical skill.” She was pondering as she spoke and seemed to decide with a slight nod. “My sister A’va… everything about her is wise… she thinks very, gracefully.”

"Your friends have abandoned you. How does it feel to see that he abandoned you? Are you ready to listen fully now? Your path is with us. We will never lead you astray."

There was no escaping the shadows when they crept in during the dead of night. Whispers and promises, both good and evil, wove around every fiber of Light and logic that could be found within her.  The Galeshatter’s had always been known for their gold-flecked stare, but when the whispers communed, the Cleric’s eyes faded in their natural golds and in favor, spun with dark amethysts.

Tonight was no different. Even as the arcane flames flickered within glass cloches,  no amount of Light could be found there in the windows of her soul. A tremor found her heart, and this time it lingered to her detriment.  The tips of her fingers found the harp-shaped pendant, and for a while, traced its intricate design to and fro.  It was a decisive act as fingers finally pinched the delicate silver chain.  It was a single yank that splintered the chain-links beyond repair. The once-beautiful adornment was deposited to the soil below in a snaky line of shattered truesilver, and the sight of it caused the Cleric to pause in reflection.  Indeed, it was just like her: Once beautiful, but not good enough to truly keep or to wait for. Had it not been for the shadowy intoxication she reveled in, the Cleric would have been shocked, or worse, hurt.

But instead, she felt nothing at all.

“It does not surprise me, you had warned me this would happen. I should have listened to you. You will never mislead me.”

A simple request

Dear all, Please pray for the 1L class of RWU Law. Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers because right now we are mourning with heavy, broken hearts. Our class has lost a talented man, and I have lost a dear friend. A talented, beautiful soul has been taken from the world before his time. Right now, none of us understand and have been left with more questions than answers. Some of us are stunned, others of us heartbroken, and some of us are at a loss - we're angry and heart shattered. Please pray for our continued strength and pray that our wounds will heal over time. Pray that we find some peace in all of this, and pray for his friends and family. Pray that we keep him in our hearts and that we never forget his smile, his jokes, his strength, his diligence, and intelligence.

     [ A s s a s s i n a t i n g   t h e   A s s a s s i n ]

It had been ages since she’d stepped foot in Tirisfal for business, but it was just as she remembered.  Forrest mist clung to leathers and, even through them, chilled her form to the bone.  Above, in lush canopies, ravens cawed to her only to flutter away once she drew too close.  The crypt she had named “the abandoned crypt” bustled with life just beyond hidden doors. It too was exactly as she remembered.  This was where the “undesirables” and the less savory individuals wandered to. It was exactly where she belonged.

There were several faces she recognized at the bar, but to say she knew them would be far too great a lie.  Just beyond those patrons, a forsaken lady scuttled back and forth along the tattered banners on the wall and cursed as the potions she brewed refused to meet their boiling point and balance correctly.

Just like her, he showed up when he wanted to and when it was convenient for him to. However, tonight he was on time and already waiting at a secluded table.  Once he saw her, he lofted the drink he’d purchased for her and patted at the seat closest to him indicating that she should come, hurry, and sit.

Nara forwent the coconut rum and wiggled into the booth beside him before pulling the curtains closed to provide more intimacy.  The man smirked and let out a whimper as she straddled him; one of a few tale-tale signs he’d been too long without her and too long without release. The pair had been doing this for years, and they knew they could speak between kisses.

“Now there’s a face I haven’t seen in a while. What is your name now? First it was Starr, then Eri, then Dell, and now…”

“Nara. It’s Nara for now, or it will be until you give me the next. And what do you do now? If my information is correct, you’re a captain now. Sailing the seas on the Emerald Eye.”

Both of them laughed at their ridiculous lives, but his smile faded faster. He was jealous, but he knew how she was and the tools she used to get information.

“It wasn’t anything. None of them meant anything to me. You know I’d do anything for you; to get information. It’s the surest way to get someone to talk. But in the end, there’s only you.”

She ran her fingers through his blonde tresses and attempted to lift his gaze to hers, but he was having none of it. Nara rolled her eyes and slid off the Captain’s lap. “You’re really fucking priceless. Fine. Give me the next contract and get out of here.”

The Captain shook his head. “And you’ve really lost your charm.”

Nara took a swig of her rum. “Oh, bullshit. I’ve done everything you asked me to do. I’ve been gathering intel for you for years and eliminating your targets for much longer. Now give me the next faux dossier I can hand out, and I’ll show you how worthless you’d be without me.”

The Captain’s jaw tightened. “No, Nara. There are no more contracts for you.”

She knew the rules, but before the words registered, she felt the dagger plunge into her chest.

For nearly 7,000 years, high elven society centered on the sacred Sunwell, a magical fount that was created using a vial of pure arcane energy from the first Well of Eternity. Nourished and strengthened by the Sunwell’s potent energies, the high elves’ enchanted kingdom of Quel’Thalas prospered within the verdant forests north of Lordaeron.

During the Third War, however, the high elves were nearly scoured from Azeroth. Led by the death knight Arthas, a Scourge army stormed into Quel’Thalas, slaughtering almost ninety percent of the kingdom’s population. Arthas then used the mystical Sunwell to resurrect the fallen necromancer Kel’Thuzad, irrevocably tainting the fount in the process.

Fearing that the befouled well would obliterate his dwindling race, Prince Kael’thas Sunstrider gathered a group of Quel’Thalas’s defenders and destroyed the fount to avert catastrophe. Although the high elves were spared from continued exposure to the Sunwell’s dark energies, in the fount’s absence they suffered terribly from withdrawal. As a result, Kael’thas desperately searched for a means to help his people—whom he had renamed the blood elves—and thus he set out for the shattered world of Outland. There he allied with the renegade demon Illidan Stormrage in the hopes of finding a cure for the blood elves’ crippling withdrawal.

Kael’thas had assured his people that one day he would return to Quel’Thalas and lead them to paradise, yet time revealed that his promises were nothing more than lies. On Outland, the prince became twisted due to his reliance on fel energy, the dark and corrupting essence wielded by the demonic Burning Legion itself. Unbeknownst to Illidan, Kael’thas also came under the sway of the Legion’s commander, Kil’jaeden.

At the bidding of his new master, the wayward prince eventually returned to Azeroth and seized the site of the Sunwell, hoping to use the fount as a means to usher Kil’jaeden into the world. Ultimately, Kael’thas was slain before his recklessness could bring ruin to Azeroth. In the wake of Kil’jaeden’s defeat, the draenei prophet Velen purified the Sunwell with the Light-infused heart of a fallen naaru, transforming the fount into a source of both holy and arcane energies.

Inspired by the Sunwell’s rebirth, the blood elves have since entered into a shining new era in their ancient race’s history. Although some elves remain hesitant to abandon their dependence on arcane magic, others have embraced change for the betterment of Quel’Thalas. Yet only time will tell if the blood elves can avoid repeating the tragic mistakes of their past.
