Rafah was Palestinians’ very last safe zone. There is quite literally nowhere else left to go. And now it’s being bombed with airstrike after airstrike.

What’s funny is I was gonna be like “well the Super Bowl is obviously a distraction! It’s not a coincidence that Israel invaded Rafah on the same day all eyes were on the Super Bowl!” then I remembered that the western world doesn’t care to begin with and Israel has been genociding Palestinians with no remorse for months now. To claim that they do it while the world is distracted is also to imply that the world would care if weren’t, which it doesn’t. The truth is Israel is now targeting Rafah because Israel knows the US won’t be doing shit to stop them either way. It really is such a depraved world.

Israel has banned children’s insulin injectors from entering Gaza

It's a larger article covering ALL the difficulties Israel is creating for humanitarian aid, but if you ctrl+f "insulin" you'll find that Jaime McGoldrick, the UN Humanitarian Coordinator, does say the Israelis are blocking insulin pens under the absurd argument that they're "dual use" which: they aren't even trying to claim there's a military use for them they're just pretending that "dual-use" covers obvsl civilian uses which they disapprove of. This is Monstrous.

Rashida Tlaib has set up a petition to send to the White House to recognize and stop the ethnic cleansing and forced displacement happening in Gaza. If you’re a US citizen please sign. I have no illusions that this will change policy, but the public outcry against their actions must continue. We will not be distracted or discouraged from continuing to object to these human rights violations.

So isaac herzog, current president of Israel, spoke at the world economic forum a few days ago and I find what he said here to be very interesting:

"If Israel wasn't there, Europe would be next, because the barbaric jihadists want to get us all out of the region"

Now while this in itself is not particularly noteworthy because they’ve said this over and over again the past couple of weeks, I wanted to point out that this rhetoric is actually not new, in fact, it’s even older than the state of Israel.

In Theodor Herzl’s 1896 treatise on the state of Israel, it included this:

“There [in Palestine] we shall be a sector of the wall of Europe against Asia, we shall serve as the outpost of civilization against barbarism.”

Herzl’s words can easily be repeated today, and I see it echoed within the statements of Israeli politicians and settlers - Zionist rhetoric about Palestinians has changed little over the past hundred years - something said 20, 50, 100, 120, years ago about us could be said now - be aware of that whenever you see speeches like this circulating, it’s likely it’s not the first time it’s been said.
