the most satisfying thing i’ve seen out of this show is what happened tonight when white pulled out his gem and it turns to STEVEN instead of pink it just proves that steven is steven and not his mom and the animation of that scene was very well done
SHES GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONE is the most powerful line of the show change my mind
I think this, more than anything, was such a HUGE message and relief. Steven is himself, his GEM is HIS. He isn’t carrying Pink, his gem is his.
“Steven, we can’t both exist. I’m going to become half of you. And I need you to know that every moment you love being yourself, that’s me, loving you and loving being you. Because you’re going to be something extraordinary…You’re going to be a human being.”
That’s very important. People always ask what would happen if Steven’s gem was taken off, if Rose or Pink would come back, but no, since the beginning of the show we already have the response. Steven is Steven. Pink/Rose give up her form to Steven exist.
Pink don’t refuse her own form in front of White to be “rebellious”, Pink is Steven now.
And also, its important to see how Steven full human is weak and very emotional, and Steven full diamond is very strong but without emotion, but together they are both (literally), and that’s how Steven is.
(I’m just saying all of this because I’ve seen people saying that Pink/Rose just refuse to be her, and that she still exists)
I’ve always been me
White Diamond’s luminous white light is a manifestation combining all the colors of *light*. This light is searing, and serves only to call out “imputities” and categorize them.
Obsidian’s earthy black matte is a fusion of all colors of *pigment*, layered together. They are fueled by love from within, and do not project any light, expectations, or judgements onto others.
I love how the contrast of light vs pigment reinforces the opposing philosophies of judgement vs love.

can we talk a little bit about all the corrupted gems being healed? you notice how many of them still retain bits of their corruption? in most other stories i can think of, they would’ve been fully cured like magic like as if it’d never happened. but that wasn’t the case here. it did happen, they were corrupted, they were hurt, they were mutilated beyond recognition, and that’s gonna stay with them. they’re never going to fully heal, they’re going to carry that trauma with them for the rest of their lives. but that doesn’t mean they’re never going to be themselves again or never be happy again.
okay, so from what i can tell:
all gems, including the other diamonds, are born from white diamond extracting her own “impurities” from herself to become flawless. (basically, she did exactly what she accused steven/pink of).
and, of course, these “impure” gems have minds of their own and may go against her wishes. if this causes enough problems, she repossesses them. but the more she possesses, the more spread out her “purity” is, and the weaker her hivemind is as a whole.
hence why steven was able to reveal some of her “off-coloredness” with his words: he had united enough of his friends against white to cause her to possess them. notice as she takes over more of the gems, the more emotional she becomes? her humanity was showing through as her impurities returned to her.
