You’ve spend the entire day looking for Luke. He’s a busy man, always running around doing maker knows what. And for some reason, he’s always unfindable whenever you need to talk to him.
The small box lightly bounces against your chest in your pocket as you’re half walking, half running around the base. You really needed to find him before he took off again.
Ever since Luke came into your life, it has been chaotic. But for a good cause. You’re fighting for the freedom of the galaxy and you’re surrounded by friends that you love. Sometimes you lose someone, but it only made you more determined.
You hope you find Luke before it’s too late. You force yourself to stop, close your eyes and to take a breath. Don’t. Don’t let those kind of thoughts find their way into your head.
You shake the thought from your head and continue your search for Luke. Where could he be? People pass you non-stop, and you’re scanning every face that you see. Finally, you find a familiar one. It’s not the one you’re looking for, but maybe they could help you out.
‘Leia!’ you say, and she stops to see who called her name. ‘Have you seen Luke?’ you ask. ‘I can’t find him anywhere.’
‘Have you tried the Falcon?’ she says.
‘Yes, he wasn’t there.’ you say.
‘I’d check again, that’s usually where I find him when I’m looking for him.’ says Leia.
You shout a quick thank you before hurrying over to the main hangar. You’re bumping into several people on the way to the Falcon, and the hangar itself is as crowded as ever. You make your way through the sea of people and finally make it to the Falcon.
There’s no sign of Luke, but you hear Han and Chewbacca inside, and so you decide to see if they know where Luke is. Just as you want to enter the ship, the person you’ve been looking for emerges from it.
‘Oh, hello Y/N!’ says Luke.
‘There you are!’ you say. ‘I’ve been looking for you everywhere.’
‘Do you need help with something?’ he says.
‘No, but I do need to talk to you.’ you say.
‘Pour your heart out, Y/N, don’t wait for me.’ says Han as he appears behind Luke, looking at you and shooting you a wink.
‘Thanks Han, but this is between me and Luke.’ you say.
‘Oooh what’d you do?’ says Han, nudging Luke’s shoulder. The poor guy looks between you and Han with a confused look on his face.
‘He didn’t do anything.’ you say and you reach out to grab Luke’s arm. ‘Let’s go somewhere a little more private.’
‘There’s a nice cupboard along the second corridor to the right!’ yells Han and you roll your eyes and ignore him, purposely going in the opposite direction. Once you’ve found a deserted hallway - which took a while considering the amount of people roaming around - you turn to look at Luke.
‘Did I do something wrong?’ he says, clearly trying to thing of anything he might have caused.
‘What? Oh no, you didn’t do anything wrong. Han’s just messing with you, don’t listen to him.’ you say quickly, calming his nerves. ‘I was looking for you because I was afraid you were off on a mission again and I didn’t get the chance to talk to you. I don’t know when I will see you if you leave, I never know if you’re going to make it back so-’ you get the little box out of your pocket and hand it to him. ‘I made this for you.’
Luke looks at you curiously before taking the box from your hand and opening it. Inside is a bracelet made of all kinds of coloured beads. He takes it out of the box to take a good look at it.
‘I’ve collected them over the years.’ you explain to him. ‘They’re all from different places, I got them from different people. They all have a unique story to them. I thought I could tell you a story every time you come back from a mission. And once I’ve told them all, I can start collecting new ones.’
Luke says nothing as he looks at every individual bead. You bite your lip nervously, anxious he might not like it.
‘Do you like it?’ you ask him, a slight hint of hesitation in your voice.
‘I-’ Luke’s voice fades away and he finally looks you in the eye. He smiles brightly at you. ‘I love it!’ he says. ‘You say all of them come from different places?’
‘Uh, yeah, all of them.’ you say, glad he likes it.
‘Wow, amazing.’ he says. ‘Can I ask you something?’
‘Sure, anything.’ you say.
‘Can I just get one story? I can’t wait til I get back, not now I’m curious.’ he says. You smile at him.
‘Sure. See this blue one? I got it from a little marketplace in a big city. It was a very hot day and we were tired and wanted to go home but I wanted a bead, and so I basically forced everyone to stay until I found a bead I liked and…’
