By having me here, we’re bringing in an audience who maybe don’t necessarily go to the theater a lot. They may be more TV watchers, may be more Game of Thrones fans. Here we’ve had a younger generation of new theater-goers and that’s incredibly important and that’s why we’re doing this play, and that’s why I’ve been chosen to be in this play and I feel incredibly proud of that. ~ Kit Harington on Doctor Faustus. (…) there are Buzzfeed lists dedicated to how cute their relationship is, whole YouTube compilations that show them being nice about each other in interviews. [Kit] grins a wide grin. “Are there?” It’s adorbs, I tease. “She’d approve of adorbs,” he smiles, but that’s all he’ll say.

Discussing his use of the word ‘sexism’, Harington admitted to the The Guardian, “I was wrong there, though. Sexism against men is not something I should have really said. I think what I meant was, being objectified. At that time, I did feel objectified, and now I’ve learned how to control that.”

“Look, I do think men can get objectified. I do feel I have been objectified in the past, sexually as well, in pieces that have been written about me. Has that made me feel uncomfortable in the past? Yes. Do I think my position is the same as a woman’s in society? No. They’re very different things, and I should have separated them. I was wrong.”

In a candid interview with The Guardian, Harington revealed why he’s not fond of being mobbed by fans who request selfies with him.

“I don’t particularly enjoy that. I don’t know. Do I? I’m glad I’ve experienced it, but… It’s a bit incessant,” he said.

“It makes me snappy and it makes me uncomfortable, and I turn into a grumpy person,” he shared.

“Especially me and Rose (Leslie), we never do a photo together. Because then it makes our relationship feel like… puppets. Like we’re a walking show.”

He also recalled a recent event in Europe, where he and soon-to-be wife Rose Leslie had a hard time going through the city.

“Like, being in Spain and there being a crowd of 500, maybe 600 fans camped outside the hotel every day, and you have to get through them. It feels like being Bieber or something,” he said.

“You just have to [turn them down], otherwise you start feeling like a mannequin.”

The idea, says Harington, grew out of a conversation with his friend and housemate Daniel West (the two met at drama school) about three years ago. ‘We were sat in a pub having a drink and I said to Dan, “I don’t know why no one has done the story of Catesby,”’ he recalls. The two got very excited.  ‘And when we woke up the next morning we still thought it was a good idea,’ says West.
