Hey, folks! Sorry for the extreme lack of activity on here. Been signed off work for the next while due to accidentally crushing my foot with a cage, so I was thinking of coming on here again since I’ll have plenty of time. If anyone is interested in doing something, don’t be afraid to let me know! You can either leave a wee comment, a message, send an ask/starter, or add me on Skype and I’ll more than happy to respond.

“It’s going to be a main course of mayhem with a side order of trouble, mate.” A flare of fire shined temporarily over the dark, lingering only enough to be beaten by a puff of cigarette smoke. “Okay we’re going to steal something very dangerous from equally dangerous people and I need your talents to help keep some undesirables off me back while I do it.” He took another drag of impending lung cancer and released the excess smoke into the air. “Look I know your not the thieving type, but if it makes you feel better this artifact can cause quite a headache for the status quo if we don’t. Better in the hands of the devil you know, right?”
Admittedly, before John even had a chance to open his mouth, Charles already knew whatever it was would be outside the telepath’s usual boundaries. But that was part of the blonde’s appeal, he could pull the reserved mutant from his stubborn path, even if only for a moment, and lead him where he never thought possible. These were the building blocks of his future, and he knew it. “I’ll do whatever is necessary to keep this... artefact, from falling into the wrong hands.” He finally admitted aloud, trusting Constantine’s judgement, with more understanding of what that truly meant than most. “I will help, my friend, but with one condition....” He paused a moment, assessing what words gathered in his mind before letting them fall between his lips. “-- - I will act only in self defence. I will not mindlessly attack anyone.” He hoped John knew that already, but he had to be sure. “Do you understand that?”

“Come now, it’s not as though I forced you to accept it.” Charles teased with a playful waggle of his brows. “-- - and besides, even if I wanted to, I have a rather strong suspicion I wouldn’t be able to...” The soldier admitted somewhat pensively. “-- - not easily, anyway.”
That smile formed on the con artist’s face. that wicked smile, that kind of smile which means you’re in for a night you won’t forget. A night of danger, trouble and all out mayhem. An average Sunday for John Constantine. “Oh just the usual kinda fun. Ya know, fight some demonic arseholes, save this shitte whole they call England and back in time for a cheeky late night pint. Can’t do it with out cha, mate. What do ya say?”
Charles knew that look. It was the mischievous glint he had seen more than once on the blonde’s expression, one that came with stories even the young telepath could scarcely fathom at this point. But there was something about it that always lured the curious minded young mutant in, enough so that his own features began to mirror the smile on John’s face. “How could I refuse?” He chimed with a nod of his head. “Dare I ask what it is, exactly, that you have planned?”

“Professor Xavier, I find your work here absolutely astonishing,” Bruce said with a smile. “In your opinion, has the work you’ve done with the many children at your school benefited society? Or has it done more harm than good?”
"Ah, why thank you, that is indeed very kind of you.” Charles replied with a kind smile and small nod of appreciation. But as he listened on, taking in Bruce’s enquiry, the old telepath seemed to tense, just slightly, against the back of his wheelchair. “I believe, Mr Wayne, that no child nor adult should fear who or what they are simply because they do not understand. I inform them, and from there they make their own choices, their own decisions, in the world around them.” His smile grew a little further. “It’s not my opinion you should be concerning yourself with, my friend, it’s theirs’.”

With an amused tug of one eyebrow, the young soldier dropped his gaze with a growing smile. “Is that so?” He couldn’t help but laugh, although he made sure to keep his voice down. The last thing the pair needed was for the men to think that Charles had gone mad, and well, the truth wouldn’t really aid them at this point. “I’m just glad to be of service.”

A deep sigh fell between the Professor’s lips. Those words, he’d heard them so often on the fearful tongues of mutant youths, heck, the thought had crossed his mind too, before he made sense of the madness. “I know you don’t.” He admitted, his tone soft yet still with a sense authority. “There are many aspects of life that we don’t necessarily ‘want’, but they come our way none the less.” Charles sat in a little further forward in his wheelchair. “It’s what we do in face of that uncertainty which defines us.”

Out of sheer instinct, the mutant retreated back a little in his chair, hands in front, fingers splayed out, as though to show as best he could that he meant no harm. However, it didn’t take a genius to understand that the threat others might deem most unsettling of all, was what lay behind blue eyes. “I promise you, it is not my intention to play mind games with you.” He tried to reassure, a pensive look on his ageing features. “I’m not your enemy.”

The words hit like a strike to the heart, luring the old Professor’s gaze downwards as stern brows began to meet in the middle. They’d had this discussion before, over and over again, yet still a time hadn’t come when Charles would back down. But the same could certainly be said of his fellow mutant. If there was one trait matched equally between them, it would probably be their capacity for stubbornness. “I choose to believe very differently, old friend.”
