they're divorced. they weren't even married. this isn't romantic. they're definitely not platonic. they're cinematic parallels. they are fighting the narrative. they slowly built their relationship. they rely and trust each other. they were aggressively thrown into this. they want to bite each other's head off. they kill for each other. they live for each other. they should kiss. they would put each other in a blender. they're insane. they don't even realise. they're fully aware it.

Everyone likes to talk about enemies to lovers this, enemies to lovers that, which, valid, but like, the emotional turmoil of lovers to enemies? The pain of facing off against someone you once trusted turning into resentment, the intimate understanding you had becoming a lethal weapon – especially when it would just be so easy to fall back on these lingering feelings? Chef’s kiss.

character who is sun-coded but not in the traditional ray-of-sunshine way. character who is sun-coded in the sense that they burn hot and bright and powerful, that they're a raging fury of fire and passion, and that maybe, just maybe, they are destroying themselves as they do so.

Writeblr Positivity Tag

I was tagged by @andromedaexists, who is always so lovely.

What motivates you to write?

Audacity? Stubbornness? I really don't know, I just cannot imagine life without writing. It's been my favorite hobby since I was a kid, though I did deviate into terrible poetry for a long time. And now my friends motivate me to finish my stories through their kindness and enthusiasm for my idiots.

I also write to process the traumas that I have dealt with. It's cheaper than therapy.

A line/short snippet of your writing that you are most proud/happy of. If not, maybe share a line of someone else's work you love (just please credit them):

From early on in Metropolis Down's revisions.

Which OC makes you smile every time you think/ talk about them and what are they like?

Jett and Eddie together make me smile. They are so sweet and so dumb and so devoted to each other. But also still such assholes. They are my favorite mcs that I have created.

What process of writing do you enjoy the most?

That depends on where I am in the process. Right now I am in revisions, which means I like drafting more. I miss the raw creativity of pantsing my way through a first draft.

But when I am drafting I enjoy revising more because I want to refine the story. I know my first drafts are ugly and messy and I like fixing those.

I always hate editing.

What part of writing do you think you are the best at? (Yes stroke your own ego it's okay)

I'm good at environmental description, food descriptions, and writing weird horror-y stuff.

What is something in the writeblr community that is most enjoyable?

Tag games? The relentless positivity? I'm not sure.

A writing tool/device you use that helps you with writing? (It could be speech to text, a writing program etc)

Printing out my drafts to edit on paper. It helps me get all my thoughts in order before moving on to the next draft.

A piece of worldbuilding that you like in your own story? (It could be the magic system, a particular place in the story, a law etc)

Having space ships large enough to hold whole cities. It just sounds so fucking cool living on a city that is just in space. Going from planet to satellite to planet to station. I am so ridiculously attached to the Neo-Tokyo in Metro and I am glad that the prequel book will spend a lot more time looking at the city and the ship.

What piece of advice would you say to encourage others to write if they are having a rough patch?

Since I am in a rough patch right now, I'd say just take it easy. Unless you are on a hard deadline that someone else set, you can always change your goals. Don't push yourself too far, don't neglect everything else for writing.

Tag some people whose works you love/have been your biggest supporters:

@caranox and @silverhue and @ladyknightmeg have been with me from almost the start. I wouldn't be here without them.

@marsadler and @andromedaexists and @wickedwitchwritesstuff and @ladzwriting and @golden-heretic and @aninkwellofnectar are all very kind and sweet and I adore them.

And there's tons more, but I don't think they are on here.

Enemies-to-lovers, but instead of featuring a villain redemption arc, the heroic one is getting progressively more corrupt, unhinged and fucked up, and the one who was originally the clear-cut villain out of the two is just like “well mark me down as scared and horny”

Hollywood Writers Strike: Official Sources

The Writer's Guild of America has voted to strike, and I want to get out ahead of something Tumblr is bad about doing and encourage y'all to PLEASE get your information about the strike from the guild itself, not from random people on Tumblr telling you it's "actually" about this or that.

The WGA wants the public to understand why they are striking. They have plenty of info available that is written with a general audience in mind.

  • WGA.org is the official website of the Writer's Guild of America West.
  • WGAwest is on Twitter and posting extensively about the negotiations and strike. This account is linked from the WGA website.
  • WGA also has a Linktree (linked from their Twitter bio) with more information about the strike, including their own Twitter threads about various strike issues, as well as articles in the media.
  • WGA Contract 2023 is a website full of information about the strike. It is one of the first links in the Linktree above. It's a great resource if you want to get deeper into the subject. There is a FAQ.

Any third party explaining the issue for you has an opportunity to, intentionally or not, insert their own spin or agenda. Get the information from the source.
