A big thank you to all of our fans listening! As some of you know, John and I make ends meet by working for other musicians. Admittingly there are days where it's inevitable for us to feel like we're not much of a band at all. Although our existence can be difficult and humbling, seeing the 32 million streams that you guys made happen this year really makes us feel like we're doing something special. Out of the 42,000 shares we've had within the year, 61% was a direct result from our fans sharing with their friends! Thank you for spreading Brick + Mortar and thank you for giving us life. I know it’s corny but these numbers tell me folks are listening and to keep going. Our next record “Melting UP” drops August 18th 🍻💨💊👽💀💰🌍presave link in bio. “As soon as the pandemic hit, it felt like my life was an icecream cone slowly melting in my hands. This was ironically funny to me because years before as a skeptical-negative-curmudgeon, I had my friend Richie give me a tarot card reading while on tour. I remember that the deck was custom made and that my attention was drawn to an upside down melting icecream cone. He told me that it symbolized the imperfections of life and dreams; deciding whether to enjoy it anyway or choose to throw it away and start over. However, my mind saw a different meaning- I saw that the upside down icecream was actually melting up. I thought to myself, it's similar to how magma messily melts upwards to form something new like a silver lining of sorts. This metaphor rang in my head all pandemic and stuck with me. While everything around me appeared to be melting down, our streaming numbers were steadily "melting up". Melting UP is an emotional record for me and a perfect representation of my life at the moment. It's clear to see that I've always been a icecream cone "melting up" under the sun. “ This amazing sculpture on our cover is a “creep” made by @pixie_bl00d that we commissioned for this record and we are so glad to have worked together!! Lies Of Life was written as a letter to my younger self. My mother was a blonde-haired, blue-eyed, white woman and my father was a Morrocan-Israeli immigrant. Growing up, I always hid my fathers side of me. I remember kids throwing racist slurs my way, making fun of the fact I was Jewish, and the sad part is I felt at fault. I never stood up for myself as a kid. I never spoke up or felt pride in my heritage.
