Heroic Scale, Diorama 4: Boundary Arch

In which Soloist expels the gangster from Little Fuzhou through the border gate. This structure is modelled after paifang (牌坊) arches, which mark the boundaries to numerous Chinatowns in the US.

Graffiti references the Free Hong Kong protests of 2019, including the initials “FHK” on the right sign. The graffiti spanning the bottom level of the archway, “We can’t return to normal, because the normal we had was precisely the problem”, was sprayed in a subway tunnel at the height of those protests.

Gateway is entirely 3D-printed (18 pieces), base is a cigar box with a layer of concrete on top. Acrylic paints.

A day/night, before/after scene of Soloist defacing an existing mural, driving her own mark through the head of a snake—the gang’s symbol and territory claim to the area.

A special job: the Big Bad for a session.

The lower body comes from Reaper’s Scorpion Man miniature. However, the torso that originally came with the model wasn’t what the commissioner had in mind.

The good news is that Hero Forge now allows you to download the file for your custom-made hero for $10, which allows you to 3D print them at home if you have the hardware for it.

I had to scale him up to match the scorpion half, on top of cutting his legs off in Maya to save on filament, but with a little green stuff I was able to put these two together.

Monopoly

Miniatures from the Star Wars Monopoly game, Saga edition. Luke, Leia, Obi-Wan, Yoda, General Grievous, Palpatine, Darths Maul and Vader.

Picked these up as Christmas presents for a friend, and decided to paint them to take a break from classwork and to practice open source lighting.

Each of these minis will be getting either a solo or pair post later, so you can look forward to that.
