List of known bugs with Minthara

Calling all Minthara fans and everyone who wants to see her fixed.

As of the latest update, Minthara is (sadly) still the buggiest companion in the game. And so I thought, what would be an easy way to gather more information about her bugs? Evidently, a lot of people are still clueless about them 🤔

I decided to make a Google Sheets document to compile all of Minthara’s bugs, old and new. Don't hesitate to leave a comment if you found a mistake or something that is not yet on the list!

Here's the link and a little preview:

Please reblog and share this to help out any confused players (which is most of us, half the time) and be sure to report the bugs you encounter in your game. This table will be updated periodically to bring you the latest info 🤞

Sometimes it baffles me that Minthara is regarded as the most evil companion when she is the only one who doesn't even really do anything. The only time we see Minthara do anything evil is the grove raid. However, consider that she was literally being mind controlled, we can't exactly fault her for it. I mean, she spells it out pretty clearly for you. She did not have the capacity to fight against the Absolute's commands.

But once she joins your team, she does nothing. Literally. She does not actually do anything evil. She suggests evil. She encourages evil. But she doesn't do anything evil. She actually does what you tell her to do. So if you are doing evil, then she is doing evil and she will be ecstatic about it. If you are not doing evil, she'll bitch about it, but she'll stand by your side and begrudgingly not be evil. If anything, you are the greater evil as she is only doing what you are doing.

You have to tell Astarion not to ascend. You have to tell Lae'zel to stop worshiping her obviously evil god. You have to tell Gale to give up on the crown. You have to tell Shadow not to kill the Nightsong (under the wrong conditions). You have to convince Wyll not to kill Karlach. But, what ledge does Minthara ever stand on that you have to tell her to back away from? Like I said, she doesn't do anything evil herself and thus, there is never a moment in which you tell her not to do the evil thing.

"But, she wants to become Absolute." No, she wants you to become Absolute and she'll rule by your side. If you choose not to become Absolute, she'll bitch about it, but she moves on. Either way, it was a win-win for her.

This is why she needs a companion quest. She needs a moment where we can tell her "Hey, Minthy, stop being a jackass and don't do the evil thing." I need to see how Minthara would actually rationalize doing an evil thing herself and how she would try to convince you to let her do the evil thing. I need to see how she would rationalize your pleas into not doing the evil thing. I need to see how that moment impacts her development.
