I understand the idea of tone and wanting to set up a certain vibe but what is with Hollywoods obsession with presenting anything before the Victorian age (and sometimes during the Victorian age) as a filthy and muck-covered time where nobody bathed and everyone had dirt on their faces assuming they weren't rich or of noble descent??
