Fannibal Meet-Up RDC5

In anticipation of this year’s RDC5, which we all can’t wait to attend or receive live notifies from, some of us has been caressing the idea of organising a meeting before or after (or both, why not) the actual Con. With this purpose in mind, I decided to create a file for anyone interested in meeting some lovely fannibals outside those 3 beautiful days ;)

You’ll find here an excel file to fill with your Tumblr account (or something else, in case it is terribly different), the day you’ll find yourself in London and able to meet everyone else, and if you’d prefer to meet before or after the Con, for lunch or for dinner. Please let us know about eventual dietary restrictions as well. @hannibalsimago kindly provided their infos to be displayed as an example for anyone else, and we love our lovely assistant 💕 I’ll be transfering these data into this other excel file, which will be visible for anyone but not editable anymore, if not by myself. I’ll of course delete you if you change your mind at some point, if you ask pretty please (¬‿¬ ) If you have troubles understanding this chart, feel free to ask me or contact me privately and we’ll sort things out together :)

I’m not saying we’ll actually manage something, because this is all a bit impulsive and largely an intriguing ensemble of feathers I’m still trying to unruffle, but @trashbambi has been proposing to meet already on 4th for lunch at Kintan, a Japanese BBQ (menu here, if unfortunately without vegan options) in either Holborn or Oxford Circus. You’re welcome to send them an ask or message to confirm if you’re interested in coming. This already sounds rather promissing, but I want to ensure even those leaving Monday morning have the possibility to say something, to meet up if they can and want to… for a friendly tea perhaps, if not a more demanding meal ^^

That being said, I hope y’all will find this a valid option to consider and you’ll help me spread the message as fast and as efficently as we can  (๑˃ᴗ˂)ﻭ  we need time to book in advance, to manage practical issues, but also to include as many lovely fannibals as we can!

Circle 5: Gluttonous - CONTRIBUTORS

‘Aye, that the measure overflows its bounds, / Held me in brighter days.’

Canto VI, 50-51

The sinners, removed from they’re feasts in life, are punished by hail, snow and continued discolored water, three-headed Cerberus barking over them and rending them apart.

Our contributors:

@theseavoices

Regarding Ravage: “Gluttonous is a circle that I am extremely familiar with ;) - over-indulging in food, drink and addictions eh? Perfectly placed between lust and greed, calling it a sin certainly explains the guilt :/I’m aiming to illustrate Hannibal’s excessive, delicious, decadence in this.”

@thenecronon

Regarding Ravage: “A Last Supper of another kind.“

moonstruckidiot

Example work: Drowning

Early morning is a good time for a stroll. The sounds of humanity are muted then, a back drop so faint that if you listen carefully it is possible to hear the earth talking, or at least that is what Hannibal Lecter’s grandmother used to say.

Just as she once did he walks in dark places before the rising of the sun.

Today stones shifts under his feet and the sea laps lazily over sand. It is calm now, in a few hours children will rush down from the dunes straight into the warm, welcoming water.

Last night was another story. The sea made itself heard, debris strewn the length of the beach lies in testament. Mostly it is drift wood, sea weed, the occasional dead bird and human rubbish cast adrift from other shores.

Ahead of him is a dark lump of a thing, it could easily be a sea mammal but Hannibal has an idea of what else it could be, but he is not in a rush. He bends down, settles onto his haunches and carefully examines a small cluster of stones. There is one, it is thin, flat and circular in shape, it should skim quite nicely. Three times it bounces before it is taken by the sea, good enough, thinks Hannibal, although room for improvement. He tries again, this time he manages five.

Regarding Ravage:

There will be Hannibal ;)

Frankenberger

Example work: Six hours warning

Six hours. Six whole hours. He glances at the clock on the mantelpiece and regrets it instantly. Better to exist outside of time, to hang in limbo. The only thing more excruciating than the waiting is the stark realisation of just how much it is affecting him to be alone. In the beginning it was difficult, now it is close to intolerable. He doesn’t know how much longer he can wait.

He breathes out a long and pained sigh as he returns to pacing before the fireplace, barely glancing at the glowing coals of the fire even as the logs crackle and spit out sparks in his direction. The book he had been reading this morning sits forgotten on an armchair, his sketchbook and charcoals freshly abandoned on the coffee table. Outside, the wind blows flurries of snow that eddy and swirl against the frosted windows. Six hours.

How much longer?

Regarding Ravage: “Raging against the austerity and restraint of his youth, Hannibal expresses his freedom through the sin of gluttony. A feast of fine food, a feast of blood, a feast of sensation. Inspired by the sin of overindulgence and the hellish torments that await the gluttonous within the Inferno, this story will delve into the life of Hannibal in high society during a season of plenty.”

Example work: Forgemaster

Char froze. He knew the butterfly must be laughing at him, but he was fixed to the spot. Because he knew, intellectually, that the forgemaster would be strong. Seeing the powerful muscles flex under golden skin was an entirely different kind of knowledge. His lower back was a beautiful curve, leading to plush buttocks and strong thighs. Heavy upper arm musculature rounded out the utterly inviting physique. His skin was marked with deep blue runes and swirls, across his back and ass and thighs. Char was entranced. He moved closer, the waterfall drowning the sound of his feet on the tiles, feeling like an utter creeper but also utterly unable to help himself. One Eye was scrubbing at his hands, and his shoulder blades flexed under his skin. As Char came closer, he could make our the fine tracery of scars that mapped the god’s back. They looked like… whip marks. A tiny, horrified gasp escaped him, and One Eye turned and found him there.

Regarding Ravage: “I’m best at writing funny things, or lighthearted, at least, so this was quite a challenge for me.  It ended up being lighthearted anyway, so at least I’m consistent! I really enjoyed working with all these creative people, and exploring a world I’ve never explored before.”

@lukkalee

Falling didn’t feel like flying. Will didn’t feel weightless; rather, he became aware of the weight of their bodies only when they had already lost the ground beneath their feet. It didn’t feel like peace. Didn’t taste of freedom. It was the sickening sensation of Earth losing its axis. His stomach lurched, and his heart skipped a beat in shock. It certainly did not ‘feel like forever’. It lasted two seconds, and then it was over, and gravity had reclaimed them.

The water was akin to a thousand pinpricks and drove iciness beneath Will’s skin. The impact pushed the last bit of air out of his lungs; it cost him every ounce of willpower left in him not to breathe in. The brackish taste of the Atlantic infiltrated his body anyway, uninvited, entering his mouth and nose and ears. There was nothing but darkness all around him. Darkness and the muffled roar of waves. His wounds burned from the saltwater. After mere seconds his fingers grew numb. His fingers, which held fabric and skin in their grip. How easy it would be, to let go, to let him sink and then follow after him. Death by drowning was always described as a peaceful thing, once you surrendered to it. No!… No?

Something spurred Will on, his grip tightening all on its own. He must not let go, must never let go. He had to swim, had to survive. He felt the weight of antlers breaking through his skull, and yet he didn’t feel weighed down by them. Instinct took over; there was no use fighting it. Will Graham was weak and hurt and overwhelmed by his wish to die. The beast within, however, did not accept the fate put onto it by force. It had waited too long to finally taste blood again. Now its mouth was filled with it, even though the blood was its own.

Regarding Ravage:  “It’s going to be Il Mostro!era Hannibal. Like, Hannibal, still traumatised by Mischa’s death, right on the cusp of becoming Il Mostro. He loses himself in Florence with all it has to offer - food, culture, architecture, music, art, EVERYTHING, and slowly becomes who he is now. And he starts committing his first art murders, and they nearly get him caught right at the beginning, because he is still so caught up in FEELING it. And so he slowly grows better and better at the entire thing, reigns in his instincts while keeping the hunger for life itself on max.I interpret “gluttony” not only food-wise, but just related to experiences as a whole. Life is a feast for the senses for Hannibal, and I hope to show that!”

Fresh Meat Friday Rec

For this month, I’m reccing Collecting Strays by frankenberger, @frankenberger on tumblr. This is a story from the Radiance anthology, with Molly and Walter moving on with their lives physically, while struggling to do so emotionally. It’s inevitably a sad fic, but also kind of hopeful, because Molly’s a strong person who deals with whatever the world throws at her. The writing is a lovely blend of practical with poetic touches, just perfect for Molly, and her character is spot on. She sometimes wonders if her memories of that last night have been coloured by what happened next, but that’s just the nature of memories. Not a reflection of reality, just a story that stupid humans keep telling themselves. People collect stray fragments together, and turn them into something to help make sense of the things that happen. But the stories don’t belong to them. They’re just the audience, desperate to know how it’s all going to end.

Oh wow, this is just the boost I needed today. Yay! Thank you! :D

Fresh Meat Friday ROUND UP

Hello dear Fannibals, and welcome to Fresh Meat Friday’s Roundup post for the end of April 2018! This post gathers all the recs posted on Tumblr this month under the #Fresh Meat Friday tag so they’re in one easy-to-find place. Many thanks to all who took part and congratulations to our rec’d creators! Until next time, stay hungry!

Just a quick reminder: Tumblr is often rude and doesn’t show us every rec, no matter how hard we try to find them (there didn’t seem as many as usual this month?). If we missed yours, just send us an ask with the information and/or a link to the post, and we’ll get it on next month’s round up. :)

thequietscribe rec’d by @planetstarclaw for Lives, Loves, and Predators “This is a gem of fic from a first time author that I’m so deliriously happy I stumbled upon. It ticks off so many boxes for me: Regency fic, ABO, rich world  and character building, and enough Will/Other to pique Hannibal’s competitiveness. This is definitely one of those stories you can’t put down.”

cuffedcatling rec’d by @fhimechan for Cane Catharsis “The story stands out because it depicts a rare non-sexual BDSM moment between Will and Hannibal. The writer describes the experience from Hannibal’s POV with a mixture of calm detachment and manipulation, stressing his enjoyment in breaking Will down and stitching him back together. It ends with a lovely twist, which seems in fact inevitable.”

@frankenberger rec’d by @tiggymalvern for Collecting Strays “This is a story from the Radiance anthology, with Molly and Walter moving on with their lives physically, while struggling to do so emotionally. It’s inevitably a sad fic, but also kind of hopeful, because Molly’s a strong person who deals with whatever the world throws at her. The writing is a lovely blend of practical with poetic touches, just perfect for Molly, and her character is spot on.”

@beatricenius rec’d by @pragnificent for Axiology “I want to rec this wonderful story, which I still think about all the time. My favorite thing about it, I think, is that the whole “killing a neo-Nazi” thing isn’t a lark for Hannibal. It’s not really for fun or even petty spite here, and it doesn’t feel like his typical kind of violence, and that gives it so much more emotional impact.”

@krey-9-jorce rec’d by @active-imagination  for Out of Curiosity. “It’s a wonderful rarepair (John Flynn/Le Chiffre) that people should def check out! It may just become a new fav like it has for me.”

Also, just a reminder that the FMF Mods are now hard at work on our  fics for the prompt giveaway winners! We’ll be boosting them here for you all to see them once they’re finished :)

Omg! Is me! :D

i love how the star trek fandom is a meme itself and how no one takes us seriously because everytime st fans and non fans start talking this always happens

Non-fan: Oh, so you like Star Trek? I’ve seen the movies! Which one is your favourite?
Fan, sweating:
Non-fan: The Wrath Of Khan, with all the terrorific scenarios and battles? The emotional rollercoaster that is The Search For Spock?
Fan: Well I-
Non-fan: The Final Front-
Fan, nervously: The one with the whales, the one where literally all they have to do is search for some whales while Spock keeps cursing everywhere and they eat pasta

#HannigramFirstKissChallenge <3

Hi guys!!

We are so happy to see all the wonderful posts of Radiance artworks and fics – we’re so grateful to see once again that people had fun and felt inspired by our project <3

All the love and support in the fandom has put us in a cozy, cuddly mood and it had us thinking about fluffy, warm, kissing Hannigram… *sigh* :)))

We know there are a lot of prompts, challenges, exchanges going on in the fandom right now, but this is really just for fun and giggles, so…

We want to invite EVERYONE – artists, authors, gif maker, manip masters and video wizards – to celebrate the coziness of the season and share your ideas for Hannigram’s first kiss with us!!

(Pic by Evansblack on Deviantart <3)

If you have a little time during the holidays we would love to see your drabbles, sketches, edits, gifs, clips of Hannigram smooching for the very first time ^^ Just think of all the mistletoes, fireplaces, snowy walks, comfy sweaters, alcoholic holiday drinks,… But it doesn’t necessarily have to be set during Christmas time!

You can post using #HannigramFirstKissChallenge whenever you want from now up until January 1st and we’ll reblog and collect all the posts!!

We’re wishing you all happy and peaceful holidays :)

Sincerely,

@lovecrimecat & @allionne

Have fun getting these two to make out for the very first time!!!! <3

After the death of her first husband, Molly had wanted to get as far away from Florida as she could afford to go. Mountains and the scent of pine trees called her north, as well as the promise of being alone for a little while. They had led a quiet life in Maine, and when the man in the plaid shirt and fishing waders approached, her first instinct was to tell him to go away.   But then he smiled.

Molly Graham receives a package, months after Will's disappearance and assumed demise. A sad moody little piece, and my entry from the @radiance-anthology.

As much as I gotta give props to Thomas Harris for bringing Hannibal Lecter and Will Graham and all the others to life, the dude does not know how to name characters.

I mean, I can’t be the only one bothered by this?

He thought of a character who was a cannibal and then what? Uh. Let’s call him Hannibal.

He named several characters Fred. (Chilton and Lounds, at least). I haven’t perused the books in a while but hell, there were probably more Freds in there. When I wrote an OC in one of my fics I named him Rick (short for Frederick, of course), just to be more in fitting with the canon.

Willy, and Molly, and Wally.

Really?

*tosses books in air and flounces away*

So i think that tumblr has stopped bothering to notify me when people tag me in things, so sorry if you’ve tagged me in something and I haven’t seen it. Tumblr is just trying to ensure that I remain isolated and friendless forever.

An essay, in 83 tweets

Over the past week, I have been participating in the final GISHWHES (or, the Greatest International Scavenger Hunt the World Has Ever Seen). This year, my various accomplishments included the building of a small house out of wombat droppings, and the baking of cookies shaped like poop emojis. Truly a wonderful experience.

However, this is my favourite thing I’ve ever created for GISHWHES. We were challenged to write a 2000 word essay on how to get pregnant for the tenth time, and publish it in 140 character bursts on Twitter.

If you’d like to read it in its original form (all 83 tweets) you can find it at: https://twitter.com/Frankenberger/status/896539866879504385

And here it is in text form. I hope you enjoy.

Hi everyone, For those of you with jobs and money and are able to give (no pressure), my GISHWHES team and I are raising funds to grant the last wish of a woman with terminal cancer. Fiona Sargeant, a former ballet dancer from England, founded and runs a ballet school in an impoverished township in South Africa that for years has provided ballet instruction, meals, education, safe refuge and ultimately hope for hundreds of children. She is not a doctor, nor running a large foundation or charity, but she does know how to dance and she wanted to give back to the world. She is the living proof that EVERYONE can make a difference, if their heart is behind what they're doing. Sadly, Fiona has terminal cancer and only has weeks to live. Once she passes, she expects the school to be shut down. But there is a plan in motion that, if funded, would carry on her legacy. So please, if (and only if) you have money to spare, donate to this great cause, and together we can help change a life.
