i hope people realize that “azula deserves a redemption arc because she is a traumatized child who was abused and manipulated at the hands of her fascist father” and “jet deserves a (better) redemption arc because he is a traumatized child that grew up as a war orphan that tried to fight for his life and freedom and should be seen as a complex character instead of an evil boogeyman” are two views that can not only mutually exist but actually compliment each other, in the sense that both of them centre on the idea that children who are capable and willing to inflict violence on others due to trauma deserve a chance at redemption and a happy, healthy life.
^^ and if you’re an azula apologist and not a jet apologist, maybe think about why you find it easier to sympathize with a traumatized imperialist/colonialist instead of the traumatized, colonized brown boy
