It’s almost as if you get more mileage out of treating your characters (and the people they resemble) with compassion than you do just shamelessly stamping them with your own misconceptions and hang ups.

I think it’s hilarious for Sansa Stans to claim Sansa gets hate because she’s a woman and feminine. Are they also forgetting that Margaery was popular? Olenna? Hell, even Cersei is popular and gets hate due to her utter ruthlessness. Despite the way Cat mistreat Jon, she still has fans as well. The notion that Sansa hate is centered around her femininity is complete crap.

Can you imagine spending ten years -ten years- of your life playing a character who is basically the first woman to be a protagonist fantasy ruler in a major cultural touchstone, who gets to be the hero, the good person who struggles with hard and bad choices? Can you imagine having that weight on you? Of holding that icon on your shoulders, with all it means to so many people? To pour your life into that? To experience what it means personally to your family? To your friends? To yourself?

And then having it torn out from under you by some jackasses who make your character into a monster for a Twist™.

IDK why but I find the ending to DA:O hilarious for my main warden because I romanced Zevran, told him that we’d travel together (I don’t remember what the exact phrasing was), and then told Sten that I’d go to Par Vollen with him.

I just can’t stop imagining Sten waiting at the docks for my Warden to show, trying not to get hopeful but he can’t help secretly wanting his one friend to show and come with him. And then he sees him. Kadan. The man who helped him redeemed himself. The man who found him his sword. The man who asked nothing of him but his partnership. Sten can’t help the tiny feeling of joy at the prospect of showing his friend his home land. This trip is going to be wonderful.

And then he sees Zevran behind him.

This trip is going to be awful.
