its because schools are so caught up in violating students every rights to privacy that they are blatently disregarding thoes same kids safety. zoom allowes you to track eye movements. mousepad/mouse movemenst. the browser activitiy of the user. its horrifying and dare i fucking say litteral motherfucking spyware. its not a app its a fucking virus.   its so horrifically easy to guess every facet of zoom that im guessing that schools just looked at the violation features and took them in without a second throught or trial. they disregard better functioning programs like discord because they are horrified that thoes programs would give students a sliver of privacy their instistance on using zoom is a very clear direct cause of schools horrific obsession with micromanageing every single facet of a students life.  report the fucking app.  get it taken down

If you have to use Zoom, your best bet is to run it from the browser. The Zoom website will try to get you to use the app, but if you keep declining that, it will use its browser-based interface. Since browsers have much better security, they’re unable to do any kind of persistent monitoring and have almost no access to system activities. When you close the tab, you can be assured that it isn’t running.

like... read the posts. are all your ships white gay dudes? are the people in your art all white? have you written fanfiction about a person of color? do you draw dark skinned people? have you ever drawn someone south asian? do you use aave to show you’re angry? is your black OC a sassy stereotype? do you post about wanting to live in a castle with your (white) vampire husband and his servants and not see a problem with it? or do you support cottegecore? do you only listen to white artists? are all your favorite actors white? can you even name a single middle eastern celebrity? do you refer to all modesty coverings as “hijabs?” do you pour hours of research into your favorite media and characters and yet don’t do the same for real life people and cultures, and instead inaccurately represent them? do you write about poc hoping you can get by on what knowledge you’ve managed to pick up here and there? do you read the links in the posts you reblog? do you use ambiguous race people for your poc edits instead of finding someone of that ethnicity? do you whitewash? does your favorite media contain racist caricatures? are you even critical of your favorite media? have you donated or do you just reblog for appearance? have you donated more to fanfiction sites than to gofundme’s? do you still support companies and brands after they’re outed as racist? is your activism performative? these are all questions you should ask yourself and i’m just reiterating points made in countless posts.

it’s the embodiment of white colonizers 1) running off and colonization land that isn’t theirs and 2) also running away from the real world problems that they’ve definitely contributed to. several poc have expressed the issues with it.

if your ships are all white gay dudes, it’s fetishist and exclusionary of poc. it’s not “activism” to ship white cis mlm. if the people in all your art are white, it’s exclusionary. if you haven’t drawn someone dark skinned, it’s likely unintentional colorism. the same goes for whitewashing (making dark characters lighter.) rep and art of south asian people is a rarity, especially if it’s not a gross stereotype. wanting to live in a castle with your white vampire husband and his servants is elitist and grossly white as well, and shares aspects of white people running away from the problems they’ve caused. the servant part of it doesn’t need explaining. if you’re not clicking links and reading the things in the shit you reblog, you aren’t learning and are therefore partaking in performance activism. the same goes for supporting brands and media outed as racist, and inaccurately representing people of color. i don’t see what you’re missing nor do i understand why you had to add your unnecessary commentary on this post.

if what you consume is mostly or entirely white-populated, you need to change that. if you can pour hours of research into your fanfiction, or into your favorite character, or media then you should do the same for people of color. as much as media would have you believe, this is NOT an exclusively white-populated world.
